Jongin had his face squished between his hands as he drowsily blinked in sheer boredom at his best friend Sehun. The latter was making funny faces at a little girl with wavy long black hair; the said girl giggled with every move his friend made and that kind of confused the tanned male a bit.

“How do you do it?”

“Do what?” Sehun’s full attention was focused on the little child’s smiley face; he covered his own pale one with his hands and then swiftly took them off again with an absurd face on display. The girl burst out laughing all over again at that and Jongin sighed in envy.

“Making her laugh, kids in general I mean. How come you’re so good at it?”

“I don’t know, it’s not like it’s rocket science or whatever. It just comes naturally.”

“Pfft, I can’t make a kid laugh for .” Sehun glared at him as he mouthed ‘language Jongin’ and the tanned male mumbled an apology before finishing whatever he was about to say. “Kids are so hard to deal with you know, I can’t handle one of those creatures even if my life depended on it.”

“Well I think I’m going to have to disagree with that Jongin-ah. You’re pretty good with dogs aren’t you? I mean you raised tons of puppies on your own so it’s not going to be that hard for you tonight don’t worry.” Sehun angled his right cheek for the little girl to kiss and she immediately obliged with a soft giggle. Jongin frowned.

“What does raising puppies has to do with babysitting kids, Sehun?”

“I don’t know, they’re both impossibly cute I guess.”

“What? You’re not being any help here!”

“Look, just stop thinking about it for a few seconds okay? Here, try to make Lin-ah laugh or smile or even give you a peck on the cheek. If you succeed then it’s going to be alright tonight. Go on, do something. I’m sure she’ll love you.”

Jongin awkwardly smiled at the little girl; straight pearly white teeth—that usually make older girls swoon—on full display. Sehun stared in complete anticipation at his adorable nephew as she blinked back at Jongin with a cautious expression on.

“Ask her to give you a kiss. C’mon.” Jongin blinked at Sehun for a second before bringing his gaze back to the small, black haired girl. The tanned male pursed his lips forward and winked at Sehun’s nephew while pointing with his index finger at his plush lips in what he hoped was a baby-attraction gesture. A long silence stretched around the room until Lin-ah couldn’t take it anymore; exploding into a loud fit of sobs and heartbreaking hiccups.

“Oh, ! Shh, Lin-ah I didn’t mean to scare you, shh, please stop crying! I’m sorry!” Sehun hurriedly engulfed his nephew in a comforting tight hug before sporting an apologetic look on and shifting it towards his doomed friend.

“I’m so not going to buy that skateboard now.” Jongin groaned in agony and Sehun couldn’t help but agree.
