Once outside, Eunsu felt a brief shock as a hand grasped hers.

     “Come on,” Kunpimook whispered as he gently tugged her closer to him. The girl felt a faint blush creep onto her face but quickly turned her head to hide it. The two walked across the parking lot to a side street near the back of the campus. They approached a black range rover with tinted windows and Eunsu grew nervous. Was it really a good idea to get in a car and go somewhere with a boy she had just met yesterday? The boy still held her hand as he opened the back door and started to climb in. As their hands disconnected, the girl had an urge to walk away, but brushed the idea off and put on a brave face as she hopped in. The boy said something to the driver in a language she didn’t understand. Thinking back to earlier that day, the teacher introduced him as being from Thailand, so he probably was fluent in Thai.

    “Are you hungry?” the boy asked. Eunsu looked at him and shook her head. She pulled out her phone and decided to text her mother that she would be late coming home. The woman was surprised but delighted when her daughter told her the reasoning was due to her finally making a friend. Since her mother seemed so fine with the idea, Eunsu pushed away her nerves and started to enjoy the new experience.

    “Can you speak Thai?” Kunpimook asked. The girl looked up at him and said no. The boy nodded as if he expected this answer but still seemed disappointed.

    “Maybe you can teach me? I’m a fast learner,” Eunsu said honestly. The boy smiled and said sure. The two starting talking about how he learned Korean and how she could easily pick up Thai. Before the girl knew it, the car stopped and the driver exited.

    “We’re here,” Kunpimook said before opening the door and hopping out. Eunsu grabbed her bag and followed him. She stepped down from the vehicle and saw a solid white building that caused her to crane her neck upwards. After analysing its entrance and number of floors, it appeared to be a home. A massive home. A mansion. The girl was ripped from her daze as a warm hand slipped into hers. She looked beside her and saw the boy smiling as if he was holding back a laugh. The girl forced a smile out of embarrassment and followed him inside.

    Upon entering, Eunsu had no time to observe the interior when someone jogged up to the two started speaking in a polished yet rushed tone. Again, Eunsu didn’t understand any of it, but noticed the whine in Kunpimook’s voice as he replied. This person, a man in his mid-thirties who stood just a few inches taller than Eunsu, and Kunpimook talked back and forth and the girl started to felt awkward at her lack of understanding. She was fluent in Korean, English, Mandarin and conversational in Japanese and Russian, so not understanding a conversation was a new and somewhat frustrating thing. During this time, Eunsu looked around and took in the massive staircase they stood near that separated two open rooms. The left looked to be a casual sitting room, which was empty but full of light from the massive windows along the back wall. But the right had an older heavyset woman mulling around, tidying the artwork which hung all along the walls. The room had a few lounges spread around, but the white marble floor was covered in a massive decorative rug that held several tones of red and yellow, but was mild enough to remain classy. In between each piece of artwork, which the girl soon noticed were portraits, were identical potted plants that stood ha
