Personality: Alice is quiet, creative and every bit a shy dreamer with a low self-esteem and a penchant for attracting her exact opposites. She rarely speaks out, even to defend herself, and was the victim of bullying when she was little, which lead to her having an immense distrust of strangers and her classmates. Alice, or 'Honey' as her friends like to call her, seems like the kind of girl that you could remember if you really tried, or totally forget in the next five minutes. There isn't anything extremely remarkable about her besides her brains, her surprisingly fragile health, and her love for art and music. She is very bright for her age and her brother, Seungho, likes to by calling her 'Grandma' for how mature she acts at times. Alice is practical, while still being the dreaming-artist and musician she has always been.

 

On the surface she appears really cool [as in 2D and standoffish], but she's actually very sincere and caring deep down. She doesn't show this side of her too often because she doesn't want to be taken advantage for appearing 'weak,' but Alice would never keep this side hidden if someone was seriously hurt or upset. Alice is what people would call 'fake' because she doesn't show who she really is most of the time, choosing to show it only with her family and friends. The way she acts around them isn't that much different from strangers except she appears happier and joyful. She talks a little more but otherwise is very quiet. Alice does most of her talking through text, where no one has to see her face and she doesn't have to hear their criticism.

 

A lot of people don't realize it, but the reason why she avoids people she doesn't know is because she's afraid of what they think of her. She's afraid of hearing how people see her, and hearing how they judge her based on her appearance. Alice is very sensitive because of this and takes 'jokes' and teasing very seriously, almost to the point where she'll cry if it's even implied she is being insulted in an offensive way.

 

When Alice gets upset, she gets REALLY upset. Her face gets really pale, as if her emotions are draining her energy, and the mellow Alice everyone knows becomes more like a living corpse. She won't talk, eat, or sleep at all because others' words affect her so much that they just repeat over and over in her mind. Sleeping, she says, is for people who can handle the silence and darkness on their own. Sleeping while upset for her is like being trapped in her own personal hell where every insult, every moment of bullying becomes real, or is replayed.

 

Her shyness gets the better of her social life, but she doesn't let this hold her down and she'll continue doing what she loves, with who she loves. Alice is a soldier, and if you knock her down, she'll just get right back up – sooner or later – and keep on marching, eyes straight ahead, tears barely held back.

Personal description: Alice has long, black hair that ends a little higher than her bust area that hangs straight down in lots of layers. Her face is heart-shaped with puffy cheeks, pink lips often set in a pout or an octopus face (her cheeks puffed out with her lips pursed like she's blowing a kiss). She has pale skin that is more white than tan [as in, very, very pale] and brown eyes with short, sparse eyelashes [they surprisingly suit her more than long lashes though].

Family background: Alice was brought up in France with a Korean mother, and a French father. Her parents were both really loving and they both were very artistic, so Alice grew up loving the smell of paint, the sound of cameras flashing and brushes scraping against canvas. When she turned twelve, her mother took her and her father to South Korea to visit old friends. That's where she first met Seungho and his father, as well as her (and his) other best friend Joon.

 

On a tour of the city, Alice's car had crashed into a stray taxi that was luckily empty, but for her car, it was full of her, her father and her mother. After she woke up in the hospital with broken ribs, a sprained ankle and multiple cuts and bruises, she was never the same again. Alice used to be outgoing, bubbly, and openly sweet but then she became quiet, fragile and afraid to love and care for others out of fear they would leave her. Because her mother was such good friends with Seungho's family, his father decided to adopt Alice into his family so she wouldn't have to go through foster homes and Seungho wouldn't get lonely from his empty home all the time.

 

Seungho's family treats her like she was their own daughter. They care about her well-being and always make sure she is doing okay. They're not as supportive about her music and art as her birth parents were, but they encourage enough. Alice was a sweetheart and pushed it upon herself to always work her off to repay the Yang family for allowing her into their home.

They're the closest out of her, Taeyang, Bom and him, and act more like brother and sister than her and Seungho do a lot of the time.

How you became best friends:

• Taeyang | Taeyang, Bom, and Alice had initially started out as not even knowing each other until they had one class together in their sophomore year. They ended up working as partners for a project and after getting over how close Taeyang and Bom were, Alice began opening up to them and getting to know them better. After the project ended, they kept in touch and realized they had grown on each other.

• Kyuhyun | Kyuhyun had stumbled on some boys bothering her and after his gut told him to protect her for some unknown reason, without even realizing it, he had unknowingly became someone special to Alice. They had a few classes together and despite his efforts to get her to forget about the incident, she never did and he gradually became used to her awkward, but caring personality. You could say that once people get to know the real Alice, they can't help but let her into their hearts.

How you met / your story:

Jay Park: “I first met him in my freshmen year at MAIHS. I was walking into the school, nervous because of all the dirty looks girls gave me. I didn't know it at first, but being 'brother and adopted sister' with Seungho made me the prime target for harassment. The first thing that stood out to me when I entered my first class was the group of people crowded in the large room. There was obviously something going on and curiosity lead me over there. A few people opened a path for me, as if being me was contagious, and in the center I saw Jay dancing. B-boying in fact. When class started I simply put the performance at the back of my mind, but when I was alone, it came creeping out and it dominated my thoughts.

 

At first, even after two years, I just thought it was a random obsession. Like a question you hear out of nowhere and you have to find the answer for it or else it'll haunt you forever. It was in my junior year my question was answered, my thirst for knowledge quenched.

 

There was something about the way he moved that was dangerous. Like just by touching him you would burn. But there was also something completely different in his eyes, something lonely and kind and humble. Something that made me think of...Pandora's box; like he was holding in everything he had, but still it escaped through the cracks. This went on for so long, so long that it didn't even occur to me until Valentine's Day when he gave his girlfriend flowers that I had harbored a crush on him. It personally seemed outrageous that I had began to like someone just because of the way he expressed himself.

 

In the semester of that year, we had shared a class together. We didn't sit next to each other or anything, but he had began noticing me more and more. It started out as little things; holding the door open for me, saying hello, and doing small favors. Things had began escalating to where we would hold full on conversations and not even realize how strange a topic it was. Next thing I knew, we were like secret lovers. Every time we met, it had to be like we were holding an affair. We couldn't meet anywhere where kids at our school went, like Bubbiosity, so we resorted to going to places like the woods, or taking buses to the city just to sit in a park or go shopping.

 

To be honest, it was completely innocent and unintentional for me to worm my way into his life to the point that he had grown tired of his girl friend. She was a really sweet girl and all, but I couldn't muster any remorse when Jay broke up with her. According to him, she had been distant and that he thought it'd be best they part since they both weren't in love anymore. That's how our relationship worked, me and his. We'd talk and talk for hours and not even realize how much admitting our feelings for stupid things to each other made us closer and closer. On the last day of Junior year for us both, he told me something that frightened me to no end. He wanted to make our friendship public. While deep down me and him were more alike than Thing 1 and Thing 2, there was one thing that differentiated him from me. He was damn brave. After he publicized our relationship, I realized that that was what attracted me to him. He had the courage to open himself to people and be the charming Jay Park everyone loved. He had the courage to trust in others and like people say, opposites attract.”

 

Yonghwa: “It was in Instruments that I met him for the first time. Freshmen year. A year younger than everyone else, people stayed away from me. Probably because they thought I was socially inept. Our teacher had wanted us to perform a short piece so he could evaluate our levels of experience and decide how fast or slow he wanted the class to go. A girl, one that transferred away the next year, volunteered me and I couldn't help but stumble up in front of the class when I saw the malicious gleam in her eye.

 

Like I had practiced for years and years, I played a piece my mother had taught me when I was younger. It was a lullaby, something sweet and innocent and slow that could soothe a lion to sleep. When I had finished, there was complete silence. And then laughter. That laughter still haunts me when I sleep to this day. It was cold and un-ignorable. The girl that volunteered me had sneered at the simple tune, calling it 'baby-ish.' I almost started crying right then and there. Back at my seat, Yonghwa offered me a handkerchief. It was monogrammed J.Y in pretty, gold letters and it took me a moment to realize it was actually meant for me. When I didn't take it, he folded it it and wiped my tears, not even frowning when my eye makeup ran and stained the once-pristine fabric.

 

My parents told me a story when I was little about a poor boy that was in love with a girl in love with a cruel but rich prince. The moral of the story was to not follow what your mind tells you to do – marry for money, marry for the good of your future – but rather follow your heart – marry the one that will love you, marry the one that will dry your tears. That moral had became ingrained in my mind where in the literal sense I had to live by it, and you know, Yonghwa reminded me of a prince that day...”

 

Kyuhyun: “It started when he saved me from those bullies. I didn't think anyone was left around since it was a little bit after school, but apparently there was. Just as one of the bigger boys was about to drag me away with him, he showed up. It was sunny so I couldn't see his face at first but after he began to step forward, I realized he was sarcastic guy from a few of my classes. Compared to the other boys, he didn't look like much, but from the way he stared them down, I could tell he was seriously considering taking them on.

 

I can recall the exact moment my jaw dropped when he started hitting every boy in sight bravely with no hesitation and how my heart skipped a beat when he pulled me away after him, truly like a knight in shining armor. It makes me laugh thinking about how in those few minutes, I got a first impression of him that was the opposite of his actual self.

 

After that day, it became an instinct to stay as close to him as possible without being stalker-ish. The boys that used to bother me began fading away until I couldn't even remember their faces as Kyuhyun became more and more involved in my life.

 

It was tough at first because he would push me away, but I guess when I started backing off, he started to realize I had grown on him. It really was platonic in the beginning, but somewhere along the line, our small memories and random street adventures became something more.”
