personality — 

First and foremost, Ji Won is talkative, extremely talkative. She can talk for hours on end, and tends to be very random. To add on, she's also pretty witty and is able to come up with sassy and sarcastic remarks quick. She's also really good at trash talking, although sometimes it could end up sounding like she really meant to insult her opponent and might come off as rude. She's been told many times about toning down her sarcasm, because it seems like she's sometimes so sarcastic that she seems really disrespectful. Thankfully, this only happens if she's really close to the person she's conversing with so she hasn't exactly offended anyone she's just met with the way she speaks. 

Even though she might not be the most expressive person and often finds it hard to express her love and concern for others, she's a really good listener and gives great advice. Having been through difficulties when she was younger, she's able to relate to others and give proper advice to people. But at the same time, she's also kind of straightforward. She doesn't bother hiding her displeasure towards others and sometimes might come off as someone who has a really low EQ because of her comments. As mentioned above, she doesn't really know how to show her love to others well. For example, if someone was sick and still insisted on working, she would go "Yah, don't be stupid" instead of gently telling them not to overwork themselves. She also finds it really awkward to go "saranghae" to the people around her. 

Finally Ji Won is a hardworking girl - but only in the things she's interested in. She's never been really good in school, and was usually around average or maybe even a little below average. But in things that she's interested in, like singing and rapping, she will put all her effort in them and will always do her best in it. To her, the only reason why she didn't drop out of school would be because her parentst threatened to pull her out of singing classes should she score another bad grade.

Ji Won used to have confidence issues because she was often the odd one out in her classes. It was never really clear why, but somehow it just seemed that she was the most different from everyone. Many people seemed to avoid her and even though she had her own group of close friends, she was always bothered about why the other students found her different and weird. However, with some counselling and her brother's encouragement, she managed to gain enough self-esteem and opened up to the people around her. This is the reason why she has a tattoo of "confidence" to remind herself always to be confident, because only when she's confident of herself will people be confident of her. 

When she was young, she never really liked rap. In fact, she pretty much hated it. Her brother often listened to rap songs and she always complained about. She preferred ballads; slow soothing songs that calmed her down when she was feeling nervous. Even after counelling, she finds that she still has quite a low self-confidence hence it actually took pretty long for her to tell her parents that she wanted to be a singer. It had actually taken her brother's encouragement (read: force) to tell her parents about it. Thankfully, they were understanding and they signed her up for singing classes and her brother for rapping classes. 

When Ji Won entered middle school, she started having trouble with her studies. It's not because she mixed with the wrong company or because puberty changed her but she just suddenly felt that it was such a big jump from elementary school and everything was too confusing for her. Bit by bit, she started losing interest in school and the teachers even had to call her parents up to complain about Ji Won's behaviour and grades. Worried for her, they threatened to pull her out of singing classes if she were to continue her attitude. Of course, she loved singing too much to be forbidden from doing it and tried her very best to at least be average in class. 

She had joined Cube back in 2012, when her brother debuted. She did think about joining Jellyfish, but she didn't want people to think that she got in just because her brother was part of the company. Her brother doesn't mind that she's in Cube anyway. When she had first started training, she couldn't get used to the rigourous routines and often felt helpless and useless. During those times, she'd hide in her room to cry it out - she never called any of her family members because she didn't want them to worry. Slowly, she managed to get used to it and opened up to her fellow trainees more. She'd been introduced to rapping during her trainee years, because her teacher realised how fast she talked and realised that it was a good trait for rappers. It came as a surprise that she was really good in it since she didn't really like rap. But as time passsed, she started listening to more and more rap songs. When they were about to debut, she didn't want her stage name to be Ji Won not because she didn't like her name, but because there were already quite a few people with the same name and she wanted something that would make her stand out. She chose Athena because Athena is the goddess of wisdom and Ji in her name means wisdom.

MEETING — There was once when VIXX hadn't debuted for long and Ji Won had called Won Shik to ask about his wellbeing. Sanghyuk answered because Won Shik was in the shower and chatted, though a little awkwardly to wait for Won Shik to finish showering. When Ji Won came over to visit Won Shik a few months after she had gotten into Cube to give the good news of her passing the audition, she was introduced to Sanghyuk and remembered him as "the one that answered the phone was oppa was showering".
INTERACTIONS —
They're still not too close at the moment so it tends to be quite awkward when it's only the two of them together. They start getting closer when Sanghyuk opens up to Ji Won about his insecurity of not being a good singer or dancer and not being of much use to the group (because that's what he sometimes reads on SNS portals). Ji Won comforts him and also shares her story of her childhood. From then, they start to get closer and closer and both of them open up to each other more. Sanghyuk doesn't know when he actually started falling for Ji Won, but reckons it was when she was comforting him; he loved her caring nature that was rarely seen. As for Ji Won, she's still pretty much clueless about her own feelings, having never been in love. 
CONCLUSION — They soon find out about their feelings but decide not to act on it for the sake of their careers. However, there are still some slip ups where it becomes clear that they like each other.
