Every. Freakin'. Time!

I hear about a plot that sounds like it might come out of my own brain and get all excited because maybe this is gonna be an awesome fic and I have such a hard time finding those.

My excitement is dashed by OCs and groups I can't stand.

What's worse is if I've already told the author that I'm excited to check out their fic. It is so embarrassing to have to be all, "Yeah, so.... um.... I won't be reading your fic after all. Good luck with that and have a nice day and sorry for getting your hopes up that you might have another reader. Bye!" If I don't say anything at all I feel like a jerk. Either way I feel like a jerk, but man... why do people have to ruin awesome ideas with crappy groups and OCs? Like... seriously. *deep sigh*

Thought the day was going to start out well. I was wrong. And now I'm sad.

I kind of know what you mean, it has happened to me as well... :(
However, don't most fics say that they will be about a specific group or that they will include OCs? Since they usually do, you know from the first moment what the story will involve, and you can avoid disappointment, no?

Oh, and I've also been meaning to ask, after I read your post... what are the groups you don't like?
