Personality

Xin Seoyun is a pretty quiet and reserved person, only preferring to speak when requested to, which often frustrates her company's ceo as well as her fellow bandmates since it's an undesirable quality to have, especially when in the entertainment industry. She lacks social skills as a result of her father restricting her social life when she was growing up. Having to rebuild a new life in a foreign country on her own at the age of 14 has also caused her to be abnormally independent for her age. She finds it difficult to ask people for help, even if she needs it, and will usually push herself to complete the task to the end on her own, despite might having done it all wrong. Her introverted and stubborn nature also often causes her to just stand there and take scoldings, even if she believes she didn't do anything wrong. She refuses to retaliate, since the last time she did it, she destroyed her relationship with her father. Since she also likes to keep her problems to herself, she'll just smile and say "nothing's wrong" when people ask, which lead the people around her to often wonder why she looks so stressed all the time even though "nothing's wrong". They often assume it's because of her training, but that's only part of it. "I cannot fail" is a mantra that Seoyun has ingrained into her own brain, and as a result, has developed into an irrational fear of failing. Seoyun is very mentally mature for her age.

Since Seoyun is not the type to lash out and talk back, any negative emotion she feels builds up overtime, until she feels the overwhelming need to cry it off all at once, earning the nickname "crybaby" from her bandmates. She often feels stress from her strong desire to do well, which happens often since the bar she has set for herself is unreasonably high. Though her trainers and coaches praise her very often in the practice room for her superb vocal and dancing abilities, she always feels as if she isn't doing enough. She never seems to be satisfied, and it doesn't take a genius to see that she's unconfident about her own abilities, but spectators often beg to differ once they see her perform on stage. There's a reason why the company chose to keep her despite all her social downfalls. Now all that's left is for Seoyun herself to realize how good she is.

Her personality out of the practice room is a lot brighter when she's off training. Though she is still quite introverted and prefers to spend time alone, she does enjoy the occasional companionship of a friend or two, often seeking out the few friends that she does have when she has a day off. She is soft-spoken and easily excitable, sometimes forgetting that she has an image to maintain when she passes by an arcade, and is already eagerly shoving coins into the machine in exchange for tokens by the time her companions have caught up to her. Seoyun smiles a lot in front of everyone, but doesn't laugh a lot unless you're actually funny to her. She's genuine about her feelings, and most people can read her like an open book.

Background—

Xin Seoyun, born Xin Jiahui, grew up in Guangzhou, China with mandarin as her first language. Since Guangzhou is so close to Hong Kong, she travelled there often when she was young, eventually picking up cantonese along the way. She learned a little bit of Korean from her mother. Her childhood was filled with a lot of "no-nonsense" reminders from her father. He was strict, and she was scared of him, so she always tried her best to comply with his wishes. That meant she studied all the time. Growing up, her life was very structured, and it had already been decided from the day she was born that she would be headed to university in the future. It was the same with her sister, Tianyu. Her sister didn't seem to have a problem with it, but Jiahui hated it.

So instead of growing up surrounded by friends, she grew up surrounded by books. By the time she was in 6th grade, her mind was so advanced that she was allowed to skip 7th grade and head straight into the 8th. Her father seemed to like this, so he promised to grant Jiahui one wish. Her wish was to learn how to play the piano, so he enrolled her in lessons. What he didn't know was that this one wish would be the cause of Jiahui's downfall. Jiahui fell so completely in love with the piano that she began to devote all her time to playing it, and teaching herself how to sing and harmonize. When her grades began to drop, her father got angry and withdrew her from her piano lessons, but she continued to play. She loved it, and hoped her father would understand. He didn't.

When she turned 14 years old, he trashed the piano. For the first time in her life, Jiahui wanted to hurt him. Instead, she did what she knew would make him the most angry - pursuing a career in entertainment. While blinded by her own anger, she stole his credit card and booked herself a one-way flight to South Korea, where her aunt from her mother's side resided. She knew her mother's family never approved of her father, so it was easy convincing her aunt over the telephone to let her stay. With her aunt's help, Jiahui left Guangzhou a few months before her 15th birthday. Her goal was to get a reaction out of her father; to see him angry and demand her to return home. She would have been less hurt if he had showed up in South Korea one day and forcefully dragged her home. Instead, he did nothing, and that was what really hurt her the most. He didn't care. He had stopped seeing her as his blood daughter long ago.

Jiahui fell into depression. She wanted to return home, but she had already screwed up her life there. So she continued to pursue what she came to Seoul to do in the first place. She changed her name to her Korean name, Seoyun, in a desperate attempt to get away from her past, and began auditioning for several entertainment companies while continuing school in Korea, working part-time, and picking up the Korean language. All of this, her father had legally allowed - another sign that Seoyun was no longer her father's daughter. She overworked herself in an attempt to create a new life in this foreign place. When she was 15, she was accepted into Woollim Entertainment as a trainee.

Family

— father | Xin Yiru | 46 | businessman | stern, stubborn,  strict, serious, very "proper", a man of few words | Seoyun's father never approved, and will never approve of her decision to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Since she became an official trainee, he has stopped all contact with her, and refuses to pick up the phone whenever she calls. Seoyun knows that if she ever were to fail and choose to return home, she would not be welcomed by her father.
— mother | Kim Yeonju | 46 | none | quiet, sympathetic, optimistic, tries to make everyone happy | Yeonju worries a lot about her youngest daughter. Even though she disagrees with her husband's decision to stop all contact with Seoyun, she doesn't have enough courage to say otherwise. Despite that, she still tries hard to be a good mother to Seoyun, even though they're miles apart and in completely different countries.
— sister | Xin Tianyu (Minji) | 21 | university student studying law | hard-working, friendly, sympathetic, kind-hearted , very social| Tianyu also does not agree with the way her father chose to cut off all connections with Seoyun, but what can she do about it? Not much. Like her mother, she tries to call her sister often. They spend hours on the phone together, and though it's been years since they last saw each other, they are still quite close.
— aunt | Kim Jina | 48 | interior designer | outspoken, messy, loud, easily-excitable, opinionated, very last-minute in everything she does | Jina always had a bad feeling about her younger sister's husband, and even though she voiced out her opinion about him regularly when they still lived under the same roof, the marriage still went on. When her niece called her several years later, she had almost been ecstatic to know that she had been right about him all along. Who the hell would abandon their own child? Only Xin Yiru. So Jina accepted her niece with open arms, allowing her to do everything her father never allowed her to do. Jina is more than capable of financially supporting Seoyun, so she did and continues to do so.

Friends—

—friend | Lee Aemi | 16 | student | fun, extroverted, talkative, carefree, lazy | She and Seoyun used to work at the nearby convenience store together, stocking up the shelves with candy and chips. Aemi was Seoyun's first real friend in Korea. Aemi used to show her around Seoul after their shifts ended after finding out that Seoyun was a foreigner, and always treated her to hot dukkbokki in the winter time. Even though they both don't work at the convenience store anymore, they've kept their friendship.
—friend | Kim Sora | 16 | student | bold, rambunctious, loud, optimistic | Sora is Seoyun's deskmate at school. She has a lot of school friends, but for Seoyun, Sora is her only friend. Knowing that, she tries hard to get Seoyun more involved, always including her at lunch, and volunteering to be Seoyun's partner during projects. She really appreciates the effort, and believes the only reason she hasn't died of loneliness in school yet is because of Sora.

Rival— Jeon Hyejin (OC)

Age— 21

Group— None

Personality— Hyejin is extremely outspoken and confident; almost the opposite of Seoyun. Once she has her mind set on something, it's difficult to convince her otherwise. She also has a lot of charisma that makes her a great leader; she's charming, and people want to follow her. She is very good with her words, and often has good intentions for the people around her, but the way she acts on these intentions may not always be the best.

Interactions— Seoyun is extremely uncomfortable in Hyejin's presence, since the older girl has shown her clear dislike for her on more than one occasion. Despite that, Seoyun remains polite to her since she is, after all, older. She tries really hard to avoid her, but since she and Jungkook are friends, it's unavoidable that they run into each other sometimes. Hyejin often uses sarcasm to indirectly insult Seoyun in subtle ways. She has never threatened the younger girl, but has clearly shown preference of Jungkook dating an older woman. Seoyun really doesn't know why Hyejin dislikes her so much, and tries not to let her words get to her head and bring her down.

Why they are rivals— Jeon Hyejin is Jeon Jungkook's older sister, and she is very protective of him. She is also very aware of his close relationship with Seoyun. Even though he's told her multiple times that he wasn't interested in Seoyun romantically (yet LOL), Hyejin remains unconvinced. She thinks Jungkook should find an older girl - one that can take care of him; someone who's mature and headed somewhere in life; someone that has a stable future. Unfortunately, Xin Seoyun fits none of these requirements. That girl is a teenage runaway who has nothing going right for her. Hyejin is determined to make Jungkook see that Seoyun is a waste of time, and that he would get nothing good out of pursuing her, except maybe a scandal blowing up on the news, and possibly a tainted career. But Jungkook believes that Hyejin doesn't know Seoyun like he does.

Love Interest— Jeon Jungkook ( Choi Junhong )

Age— 16

Group— Bangtan Boys

Personality— Jungkook is extremely mature compared to other guys his age. His confidence is also quite high - being naturally talented as well as hard-working has earned him a lot of praises from the higher-ups. He'd have to thank his parents for his good looks though. Jungkook is pretty laidback, and just takes life as it comes. Besides his career, he doesn't really spend time worrying much about other things, like school work. He has quite a dominant and wild personality, often "forgetting" to add -hyung to the end of his older bandmates' names in which he'll grin cheekily when they call him out on it.

Being the youngest member does have its advantages though, and he really knows how to play the maknae card to his benefit. He's mischevious and playful, and though his antics annoy his hyungs sometimes, he does it in good fun. Most people are surprised when they hear Jungkook has never dated before, especially with how smooth he is with his words. He's not the type to be flustered easily, and is very level-headed and self-confident in everything he does.

First Meeting— Seoyun and Jungkook met at the Han River at a ridiculous hour. Seoyun had gone to release her tears of frustration alone after a particularly rough day at practice while Jungkook had gone to pick up a pizza delivery one of his stupid hyungs had accidentally sent to the wrong place. He was waiting around for the pizza guy when he ran into Seoyun. They were complete strangers, but Seoyun for some reason, had targeted him as her body-punching stress reliever. Usually, she's good at suppressing her emotions, but this time, it was just too much. Her emotions flooded her like a rush of water hitting a dam. She screamed out her entire life history at him while he stood there, apalled as she slammed her tiny fists at his chest continuously. She cried about how unfair life was and how much she wanted to quit but couldn't, because training was the last thing she had left going for her.

She hadn't expected the guy to understand. But then again, she also hadn't expected him to be a member of a debuted group. She definitely had not expected to keep contact with the stranger after their meeting that day. She also had not expected him to sit down and talk out her problems with her while he forced her to eat pizza (she still doesn't know where he got that from...), or to promise him that they'd both be successful and meet one day at the MAMA awards.

To this day, Jungkook is the only person who knows about her past.

Interactions— Since their embarassing first meeting, Seoyun never found the courage to contact Jungkook first despite having his number on her phone. She probably will never be able to shake off the mortifying memory of how she completely assaulted a stranger out of pure frustration. So, it's always been Jungkook who has contacted her first, and it's probably because of this that they're still friends to this day. If it were up to her to make the first move, her grandchildren would have already been born before the day came where she would text him first. Jungkook honestly finds Seoyun to be quite amusing. Her shyness is endearing compared to his loud and confident self, and it's a nice change. They're opposites! They balance each other out. Since BTS are always busy with promotions, and Seoyun with practice, they mostly spend time interacting through text messages. Jungkook will casually send her quick, thoughtful messages during the small breaks between his schedules without much thought, not knowing that Seoyun stresses over all her replies, reading them almost a hundred times over before deeming it okay enough to send. Jungkook is really good at distracting her from her life problems.

Relationship— Seoyun admires Jungkook in every possible way. They're both the same age, and both have the same goal, but it seems as if Jungkook is making leaps in his life and career while Seoyun is stuck in the same spot she started at. After knowing each other for quite a while, they've become good friends, and promised each other they'd meet one day at the MAMA awards, but Seoyun feels as if he's getting farther and farther away each day. Jungkook on the other hand, definitely has other female friends closer to him than Seoyun, but finds that his mind always wanders back to her no matter who he's with or what he's doing. He'll often wonder: Has she eaten yet? Is she still practicing? But it's 4AM... I wonder if she's crying at the Han River again. Should I order a pizza and go there...?

(These may not be romantic feelings just yet ! It's kind of like seeing an abandoned puppy wandering on the street alone and just wanting to bring it home, wrap it in a blanket, and protect it from the biting wind, but you know you can't protect it forever).

Training Years

— Woollim Entertainment ( 1.5 years )

Trainee Life

The only reason why Seoyun was able to train for such a short period of time was because she honestly put in 120% into her practices in fear of failing. It was a good thing, because she was able to debut so quickly, but Seoyun also refers to this period in her life as hell because of all the mental, emotional, and physical hardships she faced during this time. She pushed herself to the limit everyday. Sleep was sacrificed. The practice room became her home. Her family relationships were also not doing well, and she was alone while trying to adjust in a foreign country. But even though it was hard, some of Seoyun's fondest memories were from these 1.5 years.

Pre-debut Experiences—  None

Comments/Suggestions— Expectation by Girl's Day is a song I really like! ^^ It might be a good one for Endless, since they have 4 members. For a more ballad-like concept, CSJH songs would match well (: Anyway, good luck with the story! Thanks for taking the time to read my app (:

Scene Requests

— Jungkook hears about Seoyun's bad day at practice and shows up at her dorm later that night with pizza. When she opens the door, he shoves the pizza box in her hands before spreading his arms out and telling her she can hit him if she wants to (just like the first time they met, haha)
— For her birthday, he jokingly gives her a pair of boxing gloves
— Seoyun spends the day having fun with Jungkook and by the time they get back to her dorm, she's so exhausted and disoriented that she thinks Jungkook is her tube pillow and falls asleep while hugging him goodbye
— Collab stage with BTS? (: Since both Juliette and BTS have 7 members
