My Two Cents on the Kris Issue
Okay I heard about EXO's Kris filing a lawsuit against SM and I just had to put my two cents in to the whole issue.
Basically it's like history is repeating itself. First it was with Han Kyung then JYJ and now Kris. I won't judge unless I break down what is really going on.
I had intended to rant about how unfair SME is or how Kris is being treated unfairly but I read this article just had to rethink everything. Read here.
Okay my two cents starts now.
Unlike the issue with JYJ and Han Kyung when I read about Kris filing a lawsuit at SME I wasn't that devastated. It's not that I am am not an EXO Stan or that I am Suju biased. Don't get me wrong. I like EXO most especially EXO M but I don't call myself a member of their fandom because of the sasaengs. I was reacting to the issue but I was deniably calm.
Why?
It's because I knew that somehow it would all come to a settlement.
Han Kyung was treated unfairly. It was probably because at that time SME didn't know how to handle their overseas artists' activities because it was relatively new to have a non-korean artist. Not to mention that during the time that Han Kyung was with SME and Suju, there was this unclear law about foreignerrs working in Korea.
I think SME learned a thing or two with handling these kinds of things.
Kris is part of EXO and with the popularity of EXO going off the roof I don't think they would let Kris leave EXO that easily.
SM will find ways to keep him in the group because profit wise if they don't then it would hurt them (finacially). Kris and EXO M targets the Chinese Market and I am sure that most fans wouldn't be that happy if Kris leaves. Fans tend to be protective of their biases and idols and I am sure SME is being bombarded with curses and negative comments regarding unfair treatment and slave contracts, etc. Even though its still unclear, there will be fans that will be on their idol's side no matter what the reason.
I also don't think that Kris thought this whole lawsuit through if he meant to really terminate his contract. In Han Kyung's case he had been planning to sue SME for a long time before he left and chose the time when they went to China to promote to drop the bomb.
In my opinion, Kris had no intention of terminating his contract but was seeking to ammend it or change some of the conditions that his contract was demanding.
Come on guys, think about it. This whole issue came out days when Overdose was being promoted. He participated in the China promotions and was performing with the group. His working conditions were the same with the other Chinese members ( I believe so ) and he was getting a lot of exposure from the start.
Unlike when it was with Han Kyung. In his case he was the only Chinese member and he was not able to participate in a lot of programs and offers (both in China and Korea).
Moving on. I believe Kris was really intending to ammend his contract, hence the lawsuit. By the way guys, when you file a law suit re termination of contracts and stuff it doesn't necessary mean that you intend to terminate your contract. It is a long process that can take even years and most of the time when someone files they usually just settle for a settlement or revision of the contract.
I think Kris was after that.
As I have said before I think SM really learned a thing or two regarding this issue and will probably settle for a compromise.
As for the fans, I was a bit sad that there had been fans that have judged Kris wrongly saying that he did this because he was selfish or how he was unfair to s and there was even a post saying that he should just die.
Seriously? Idols are humans too you know. They feel pain, they feel lonely and they can feel when they are treated unfairly. It is human nature to react on these things but people should think twice before saying that he should just die or something like that.
Put yourself in Kris' shoes. He must have a really good reason for doing all of these things. He wouldn't abandon his teammates like that. He wouldn't think of leaving them just because it was a whim of his.
No. There is always a reason.
I just hope that people most especially fans wouldn't over-react about all of this. Aren't we all here to support our idols? Does supporting them mean we put them down?
I don't think so.
As for SME, I always feel that they are not good in handling their artists. (This is just my opinion people no need to hate). Unlike YG and JYP, SME tends to have biases. I really feel that they are biased around SNSD. I am not a SONE but I do believe these girls are also talented. But so are other artists like F(x), Suju, TVXQ, TRAXX, BOA, et.al. I specifically did not mention EXO because it's pretty obvious how SME treats them.
Slave contracts are always present in any agency. SME, YG, JYP and other agencies sign on artist for profit. They invest on them and they expect a huge profit. So since they are investing so much then they would use whatever means necessary to get back what they have invested plus a huge interest. This happens to SME a lot because they have so many artists that they have signed on and also a lot of afflitated agencies like WOOLIM et.al. They are doning out a lot of time, money and effort so the only thing that they can profit from it is to "overuse" their artist.
I think this is unfair but that is the reality. We can only hope and pray for our idols and love and support them.
So, to end my long entry I would just like to say that as fans all we can do is pray, love and support our idols. We can't control how they think and act. We can't control how they should feel. We can't control the circumstances they are in.
We shouldn't. Instead we can control ourselves. We have to think rationally and remember there are always two sides in every story. Until these two sides are clear and seen then we have no right to judge.
I believe that history does repeat itself but only because we have to apply what we have learned from the first time.
So, I am supporting Kris and EXO. I just hope that there will be a positive outcome out of all this mess. Also, I hope that the other members will try to understand where Kris is coming from and be true to their motto that "We are one."
End of entry people.
Have a good day. Be positive,
Peace guys!
