When you first meet Jihyun, you might mistake her to be a quiet or shy girl. She's not really either. In fact, mostly, Jihyun is known for being incredibly serene. She prefers peace over drama and excitement, but that's not to say she doesn't like those things. In fact, she seems to thrive in those environments, because they can keep her attention for longer than a few moments. She likes quiet places and intellectual conversations with people. If you can managed to keep up with her bouncing topics of conversation, she won't hesitate to talk your ear off, either. For the most part, Jihyun is that girl that's considered oblivious in the back of the room and everyone assumes had no idea what's going on. However, that's not the case. For the most part, even if she looks like she's off in lala land, Jihyun hears almost everything, and her brain tends to file it away for use later.

However, there are a few times you don't want to interrupt Jihyun's thoughts. She's very possessive about her writing journal, and unless she gives you the okay to read something, she won't hesitate to give you an earful (mostly with a few English and Japanese curse words thrown in there) about how it's disrespectful to look through other's things without their consent. She has the bad habit of, if she feels threatened, getting snarky to the point of bordering on rude. It's a natural defense for her, since she was bullied when she was younger. She's not a victim, and she'll never allow herself to become one. Most people who cross her leave with a splitting headache from a knowledge overload and high pitched screaming. Jihyun isn't against showing her emotions, though getting her to pay attention long enough to show them is not an easy feat.

Jihyun was born to Kim Jonghyun and Choi Daeun. As their second born child, and second girl, the Kim's were happy. Jieun was three when Jihyun was born, and due to the birth, began acting out, as her attention was given to baby Jihyun. Her parents said that was the point when Jihyun and Jieun's sibling rivalry began. Even though growing up Jihyun never really understood what she had done to Jieun, and she tried to remain close, Jieun always seemed to push her away. When Jihyun was almost three, the Kim's had another child. This time, it was a boy. They named him Jimin, and the family was finally complete. The university professor and his librarian wife began honing what they often called the 'greatest thinkers of the coming times.

From a very young age, the Kim's introduced learning and knowledge, instilling a reward system for learning, and Jihyun found she enjoyed learning the things that her parents taught her. Once she reached the age of four, she began trying to learn on her own. She learned to read and write early, and by the time she was eight, she was reading on the level of most middle school children. It was at this point that the true rivalry between Jieun and Jihyun started. Jieun felt like Jihyun was trying to outdo her, and Jihyun wanted to be the best. The harder they fought, the farther they grew apart. It got so bad at one point when Jihyun was twelve, that instead of sharing the bunk bed with her sister, she had Jimin switch, since they didn't fight nearly as bad. Jieun was always overly emotional in Jihyun's opinion, and Jihyun was always anti-social in Jieun's. As time went by, they only pushed farther apart. Jimin was very clearly the favorite sibling of Jihyun's, as they did quite a bit together. He never looked down on her aspirations to sing, and still learn.

Jihyun auditioned for SM entertainment when she was 15, but was not accepted. However, JYP did take notice in the young girl, and just after her sixteenth birthday, sent her an invitation to join their company as trainee. The Kim's were overjoyed for their middle child, who's dreams were coming true, although they were worried about her learning and schooling. Upon making sure that she would have proper housing, food, and schooling, the Kim's put their youngest daughter on a one way flight to Seoul, and sent her to start her dream with the words that eventually became her motto- "Love like you'll die tomorrow, and learn like you'll live forever." Jihyun will never admit to it, but she was scared, anxious, and apprehensive of going to Seoul, but she wasn't giving up her dream either. She would become an idol, and she wouldn't give up her ways to do it.

Jihyun only spoke Korean when she arrived, but they immediately signed her up for classes for English and Japanese when she arrived to begin training. The focus of her training was to well-round her, as she had potential in all areas, and not in the learning of the language. Jihyun was often the chosen for "stress-bullying" as she called it, due to being the new trainee. For two years she ruthlessly trained, but when her parents realized that Jihyun knew very little more about the languages she was supposed to be speaking, they decided to see who else was interested in her talents. Both SM and YG took interest, but Jihyun had always wanted to be in SM, and her parents chose thusly. Once Jihyun was transferred into SM through a swap of trainees that JYP wanted, as well, she began rigorous language classes. They already knew she had the talent, now they needed her to speak the languages semi-fluently. It took another year and half before Jihyun was able to hold an entire conversation in both languages. At this point, SM began honing her skill to decide if she was going to be someone they debuted or not.

But there was always that one thing lacking in Jihyun's life. She was well on her way to living her dream, but she wasn't really living the motto that had become her reason to push on. She had yet to find or even look for love. She didn't have time for love. Or at least, that's what the vocal coaches told her. She should focus on her future, but Jihyun knew that her future needed to involve a love who could handle the stress of her impending debut, and still fulfill that need for someone who is more than a friend. A few weeks later she overheard about a shop that set you up with your perfect soulmate, or so they claimed. Jihyun was skeptical, but the thought that there might be someone out there that can handle her and all her quirks was enough for her to put in an application.

First and foremost, Jihyun needs someone who is outgoing, but not attention seeking. With her upcoming debut scheduled she needs someone who can handle the pressures of a secret relationship if the company refuses to acknowledge them. Her ideal man needs to be able to put his foot down and be serious, and be able to pull Jihyun's attention back to him to make sure her eyes don't wander. He needs to be trustworthy and thoughtful, but not be afraid to get his hands dirty and be romantic for her sake. If the company does allow the relationship to come out, he needs to be able to handle the critics and saesangs that come along with idol life. He will be a topic of conversation for Jihyun, and their relationship will be on the topic of gossip. He needs to be self-assured and confident, or the stress of the limelight will cripple him.

Along with all the things needed in the ideal man, there are things Jihyun would really like. She'd like him to have a good sense of humor, who can take a joke and finds humor in life. She'd like him to be handsome and manly, though height doesn't matter much to her. She'd like him to be intelligent and able to hold a good conversation, so their dates wouldn't fall flat. She'd prefer if he acted more mature than childish, as she needs someone who can ground her a bit. Jihyun would also really like him to be adventurous. As someone with a wandering mind that likes to dabble in the fantasy land, she wants someone who can amaze her with new adventures and dates that makes her feel alive. She wants someone who makes the statement "life is better than my dreams" a reality. She doesn't care if he's jealous, possessive or has a temper, because she's relatively easy to get a long with.

The First Impression- Jihyun is very big on first impressions, and I would love it if, to be completely honest, Jinhyun hates Jongdae upon their first meeting. Say they get together for a coffee, and he's overly cheeky, cocky and flashy. He comes off as a showboat and a peacock, and Jihyun fears that he would turn the publicity into his own playground. Jongdae uses cheesy pickup lines on her in an attempt to make her smile and laugh, unintentionally pushing her away in the process.

Second Impression- Jihyun takes some convincing to get a second date with Jongdae, who plans a trip to a small park, much like the one she grew up playing on. They spend the time talking about themselves, and she gets to see the more serious side of him. They talk about where they came from, what they like to do, and Jihyun learns he might not be nearly as bad as she originally thought. He does't use a single pick-up line on her, or even really mention her debut this time.

The Amazing Date- A few dates into their relationship, Jongdae takes Jihyun to the Seoul Tower, cliche, yes. Jihyun thinks Jongdae is being ridiculous and cheesy and refuses to go up, but Jongdae prepared for this, renting out a cafe only on the third level, not even heading towards the lock filled fences or typical date areas of the tower. Jihyun finds the date endearing, and they share their first kiss in the cable car ride down Mt. Namsan.
