Kpop Rant : YG Artists and Solo Promotions

*I never aim to offend anyone with these posts. I just choose to express my opinion honestly and listen to how others see the same situation. I'm putting alot of effort into accepting opinions different from my own, but won't take any insulting comments from anyone.*

I don't enjoy being angry with YG Entertainment, but they keep giving me reasons to wanna hunt them down. I love BigBang, 2NE1, and Lee Hi impressively keeps the talent coming. But I really love seeing how group members handle solo promotions. Every member of BigBang grew from watching their past performances and have upgraded themselves as a group also. My personal bias is G-Dragon, cuz the man is just beyond unique. His style may be shocking at first, but turn on the eng subs and let him express his point the way only he can. I'm not saying the other members aren't unique, I just find G-Dragon the most interesting in my opinion. While I feel that he and T.O.P are slightly pushed to the front lines without proper time to just lay back, the group supports each other and has made it through years of success.

Now, the solo promotions from 2NE1 make me think those angry thoughts I mentioned before.

Most people realize Dara has few lines in many of their songs, but her voice is still smooth and perfect for a stronger song when she goes solo. I know her voice would fit perfectly with reggae music. She could even safely shift into a song like Taeyang's "I Need A Girl" that she knows so well.

Bom has never blown me away with her voice, cuz it's small. She is quiet and her voice follows by that, but remains gentle and soothing. I can say that Bom should try to lean towards reggae style ballads (yeah, those actually exist) when she goes solo again so her vocals aren't forced but show that a soft voice can be strong. Her inner beauty comes from her peaceful sound and she should embrace that. No one can tell me Bom is not a sweet person with the other members, she shows her gentle side and that's why she's beautiful.

CL. How much can I say? The lady is a powerhouse of quirky rap verses and killer vocals. Her song "Please Don't Go" with Minzy was suitable for them both. I don't like feeling this way, but her solo "Baddest Female" was stupid. The song was bad and they don't give CL room to express her own style, cuz she's wearing G-Dragon's clothes and ends up bearing resemblance to his style. She is a strong woman, and I respect her. But calling herself the "Baddest Female" was also a huge mistake. Yeah, she kills on stage but where I come from the baddest female earns her title from fighting. We won't see CL winning a street fight, and its street slang. The only thing I liked about her solo was the message. An independent woman who will speak her mind To Anyone and stick by her word. Being successful starts with confidence and CL defined that with her song and personality. I wish that YG would do her justice and let her run the show for her solo next time.

And the talented Minzy comes last. How can I speak on solo promotions that don't even exist? Minzy had her fun duet with CL but never had the spotlight to herself. I've heard Minzy sing her heart out to "Halo" by Beyonce and watched her rule the dance floor. Her rap skills are slightly close to CL, who obviously would be proud to see Minzy with a rap solo. She can do everything, but has been given no chance to prove it. If she goes for a solo album this time around, I will be expecting all her talents to be showcased!! I can sound crazy, but in my mind I hear Minzy performing a cover of "Playin' Our Song" by Chrisette Michelle. The soulful R&B track is the style I know Minzy would take and transform. She makes music her own and deserves her moment.

It is always the maknaes of YG groups that get underestimated

Minzy is an awesome dancer and she is jut awesome. But she doesn't have anything solo besides a duet

Daesung only has solo promotions... His only solo album was in Japanese. So he technically didn't have a solo album in korea..

Seungri... He is really hardworking. But he is underestimated. Seungri released his song "gotta talk to u" around summer. But yet taeyang and gd got more views on their mv when they were released a couple months later...

I feel that daesung, seungri, and minzy are underestimated by the public. But still, I love YG family~
