My One Great Step Experience

I just returned from Infinite's One Great Step in Silver Spring, MD.

For the most part, I really loved it.

But there were many problems that I feel need to be addressed.

First, the venue. It was not designed to handle a concert like this. It looked more like a casino than an arena. The general standing tickets were alright, but the balconies were horrendous. Very tall, very angry people who happened to get in line before lined the railing. They refused to let anyone stand in front of them. There were raised areas further back to stand on, but I, and other short people like me, could see nothing of the stage. When the music videos stopped, and they came on stage, and I could hear them but couldn't see them I realized that I had just paid 100 dollars to watch Infinite on a screen. And then Destiny began to play and I broke down sobbing. Why? Because Infinite wasn't even being shown on the screen. I had driven one hour, and waited a cold hour outside to stare at the backs of people's heads and listen to Infinite.

I was lucky. I managed to push my way through (there was a seating area in front of the tall angry people, for those with the right tickets). Although I technically wasn't supposed to be there, a really nice employee took pity on me (and my inability to see at all), and let me stand closer. At best, I could see half the stage at  a time, but it was better than nothing. I still enjoyed it.

But there were plenty of other girls, short like me, who just gave up. Who could see nothing, had paid good money for nothing. My heart goes out to them. I got extremely lucky, but a lot of people had horrible experiences.

Second, some of the people, man. Rude. Inconsiderate. When I started to cry, one turned to me and told me to stop being a baby, and just listen to the music if I couldn't see. They said the right to watch a concert I paid for was first come, first serve, and it was a shame that I would miss it. But they didn't care.

I like to think of us k-pop fans as a community. A nice community. A community that helps each other.

But today I was severely disappointed.

That's all my complaints.

The good stuff?

Well, I missed pretty much the entire first half hour, for reasons listed above.

When Before The Dawn came on I think I had the biggest fangirl moment ever. <3 That song, man. God, I was screaming all the lyrics, it was great.

During their ending speeches, I shouted really loudly and obnoxiously in Korean, but I think they heard me lol.

While Woohyun was speaking, he looked about ready to cry, so I shouted, "Don't cry!" (in Korean) and then it turned into a chant. I shouted again, "Oppa, please don't cry! What am I supposed to do if you cry?" And he smiled and sniffled and said, "Okay, I won't cry." Even if he didn't see me, he kind of acknowledged me. Which was cool.

And Dongwoo was sooooo greasy. Way worse than Woohyun. We all sang Happy Birthday to him, and he kept saying "I love you." "I love you so much." And being an overall cheesy guy.

But yeah, overall, not what I expected.

But pretty fun nonetheless.

Don't let this discourage those of you going to the New York concert. This was a problem with the venue. (The venue change, I'm assuming, is because they didn't sell as many tickets as they had hoped. The arena at Fairfax seats around 10,000, and I doubt there were many more than 1000 at the concert. They would have lost a lot of money if they'd kept it at Fairfax.) A serious problem.

You might have seen (or heard) me if you went. I was on the left (for us from the entrance) balcony, wearing a Pikachu hoodie. I was also being pretty loud, later on.

I'm pretty tired, and I need to get ready to sleep.

Good night all.
