Before the Dawn

Personality: 

Myung-dae is definitely not your average guy. For one thing, he's rich. Another thing is, he's a musical prodigy. But lastly, he's the kind of guy that's apathetic towards most aspects of his life, showing little interest to things that happen around him unless it involves music, or he's actually involved in it or if someone pokes him about it. Despite being shown as a lazy, I-don't-give-a-damn-about-the-world-so-leave-me-alone! kind of guy, he is quite intelligent and perceptive. The reason for his usual laziness and indifference is because he wishes to "conserve energy". His motto speaks his whole personality, "If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I have to do it, make it quick." Myung-dae isn't lazy because he wants to rebel against authority. He wasn't even like this in his early childhood. It was after a tragic event in his past that he retreated to a grayscale life of muteness. Myung-dae may appear indifferent but he is actually quite sensitive, especially when music or family is involved. His indifference and lazy acts are just masks to hide his insecure and wounded self.

This guy seldomly gets angry. But provoke him with, say, a musical piece he happens to know from the past or any music by his parents, then you'd see the 180 degree change in mood. He would grow defensive and start to fight back verbally or physically, as if he were being threatened or harassed and would try to run away from the person or provocation. However, that kind of scenario is rare in itself because he heavily guards his past life. He does not hint his background because of his quiet character. Myung-dae just wants to blend in with the background rather than stand out. He's not one to start conversations and if you do happen to have with him, he would usually be the one listening. His impassiveness may come off as being rude or hurtful, but don't be mistaken, he just has a very strong sense of control. 

Myung-dae is not someone you'd expect to overwork himself, since he rarely moves. He is prone to sleeping and sleeping deep. His laid-back personality makes him terrible with time management and scheduling, so he'll often be the last guy to arrive or the guy often getting lost somewhere because of his sheltered life. However, he'll be the one who will be the least stressed, the one who will be willing to let others take the spotlight and the one who'll rarely complain about whatever is happening around him, no matter how bogus they are.

Persona: The Underachieving Gentleman

Background: 

Myung-dae was born into a well-off family of musicians. His father was an introverted conductor and his mother was an optimistic pianist - two totally different personalities. From an early age, his parents had strongly endowed into him the ability to hear sound extremely well - to be as sensitive as a harp's string. He didn't mind, because he loved music just as much as he loved his parents. But this isn't the typical "parents forcing him to do things they did all their lives" story, because his parents were also willing to spend time with him or let him do things he would want to do. All in all, it was a very happy, musically-centered family and he specifically gravitated towards his mother more because of her happy self.

He lived majority of his childhood in a more bustling city, when they moved to Cordelia because of his father's ambition to teach in a music school. The idea of teaching in a country-themed town was intimidating yet tantalizing. So the family moved right after Myung-dae graduated from grade school.

All was well for the family. Myung-dae even adapted well in his new middle school. However, it was not until his mother disappeared a few months upon entering high school at Cordelia Human's High School that things started to go downhill. From what he heard, his mother had travelled to attend a piano concert - where she was the main star. It came as a shock to the father and son duo when the staff called and told them that she had failed to show up. Much of Myung-dae's middle school life was then devoted into searching for her. He had been pulled away from living a normal teenage life. This greatly affected his psyche. He had retreated to a quiet "shell". He had lost the one person who he dearly loved and was sure that his father was hurting twice as much as he was. He didn't want to bother his father so he decided that silence was the best remedy for the situation. Why add more words that could either hurt or anger him? Myung-dae's relationship with his father took a deafening stand-still and they had somehow become mutual comrades in the process of searching for Myung-dae's mother. However, his father had slowly begun to lose hope in finding his wife alive. His father would often just stay closed in the bedroom or in the music room out of depression. Myung-dae, taking a sort of oath of silence, felt rigid with guilt. He thought that his silence could help his father, but things didn't turn out the way either.

His retreat into his "shell" had also caused him to be unable to play or hear music - something the family used to do together. For him, it was as painful as thinking that his mother was no longer alive. He didn't want to hear any form of music - especially if it was his parents' music. He just wanted to mute out everything - to silence everything so that he could pretend that nothing bad had happened. He would often cover his ears or plug in some kind of object forcefully in them to silence out the sound, mostly out of desperation. One day, he had gone too far and his right ear had begun to bleed. Panic-stricken and fearing the worst, his father quickly send him to the hospital. It was then that Myung-dae had lost the ability to hear with his right ear. It was a painful blow for his father, who was hoping the best for the one and only family member he had left. But for Myung-dae, it was as if time had frozen and he had begun to not care anymore.

Likes: 

01 ) Lemons or anything lemon-flavoured
| He just likes them. Anything with lemons - juice, candies, cake, ice cream, etc.
02 ) Sunrise
| Even though he often sleeps in and misses sunrises, he still likes them because of that very reason. He thinks that not being able to see something all the time is more exciting and since he would still be awake for every sunset, he finds sunrises more endearing.
03 ) Music (specifically violin solos)
| He's a violinist in his family of musical prodigies. 
04 ) Aquariums
| Sometimes he thinks he's a fish, wanting to swim in the blue abyss that is the sea because of its silence and unreachable depths.
05 ) Winter season
| Myung-dae is a conservative dresser and winter is the season where wearing more than one layer of clothing is totally acceptable. He also likes the whiteness of the season.

| Myung-dae can't handle warm food or drinks really well. Coffee is one of them.

| Since he's a quiet person, it's only sensible to like quiet places.

| He likes to read, though he rarely finishes his novels because he often falls asleep reading them.

| He doesn't like to be restricted when it comes to personal space. He lives in a pretty sheltered kind of life so he's not used to the hectic and chaos of overfilled places.

| He is heavily allergic to shrimps.

| He's a conservative kind of guy so the summer, beaches, the pool or anything that involves stripping down to his shorts is out of the question for this young man.

| He wants to be left alone and not be tended to like a lost kitten. Just because he's quiet doesn't mean he's a fragile piece of glass.

| Myung-dae is sensitive to what others think of him. That's why he prefers to use silence to be on the safe side. He's not confident in his speech, just like how he dealt with his father, because he doesn't want to hurt or anger other people. He's afraid to be rejected and pushed aside and be alone. Hence, he would rather express himself through music than words - but that would probably not be possible anymore since he had stopped playing music altogether.
02 ) Disappearing | medium
| Just like his mother, who seemed to have vanished off the face of the world mysteriously, Myung-dae doesn't want that kind of thing to happen to him too. This fear is actually an excuse to something he is even more afraid of and that's...
03 ) Being forgotten | high
| Myung-dae knows that he prefers to be in the background. But if ever something happens to him or he disappears, would others look for him? Would people not even realize he was gone? Those kinds of thoughts scare him, because although he wants to blend in with the background, he does not want to be totally invisible.

01 ) Musical Prodigy
| He knows his music. He is best when it comes to the violin, but he has not picked it up for quite some time.

| He is surprisingly lucky, probably because he does not act impulsively and tends to let things flow towards him.

| He's quiet and can easily slip in scenes or rooms without being noticed by a lot of people. Sometimes people are surprised to find him right behind them, not realizing he was there since the very beginning.

The fact that he transferred from the city to a country-style town irks some people because it feels as if he's bringing the dirt of the city over to Cordelia. Some people may find him intimidating because of his character.

Myung-dae, because of his tendency to guard his psyche and past to protect himself as a whole, developed the ability to create a shield, wall or a barrier to literally protect himself or others. Its form is that of energy - an almost transparent grayish existence. Other than defending, his shields or barries can also be thrown away from himself or others to act as a weapon - a one-directional force of energy. These shields can also catch things.

Side Affects: 

01 ) His barriers are not impenetrable and can usually be removed by an energy drain or extreme weight or pressure. Myung-dae is weak when it comes to endurance-related activities, so he may lose focus when faced with such a challenge.
02 ) Attacks on the barriers may cause damage to a lesser extent to Myung-dae's mind or body.
03 ) Requires a considerable amount of energy, depending on the size and the time of usage, which is why Myung-dae would sleep like a log afterwards (not that he already does anyway).
04 ) His barriers are only limited to round or oblong-shaped forms.

Gloves | These are black gloves that cover all the way to the wrist. Personality: 

Suzy is sweet and hardworking, a bit impulsive but has a heart of gold. She has a natural beauty with that wonderful smile that catches a lot of attention, without her even knowing it. She's popular in the school but believes that she's not, Myung-dae would strongly disagree to that humble belief though. Suzy may look like fragile and weak girl but she has a surprisingly strong sense of what is right and wrong and won't hesitate to stand up against other people. Oftentimes, she would defend Myung-dae if he gets bullied in school for being too mysterious and quiet - like a ghost. Suzy is also very curious with what other people are thinking, especially Myung-dae.

He doesn't have any rivals but he does have bullies. I didn't put them in the rivals section because he doesn't find them to be such. He probably just finds them annoying and he usually ignores them.
