"The Long or The Short of It"

Personality : 

At face value, Goreum seems like a rather socially inept and meek girl - one that easily gets intimidated by others. But often, those that actually know Goreum describes her as the most kind, caring and maternal person they have ever met. Although, they do have to admit that Goreum is a rather complicated girl to define... most of the time. Like the colour that she represents, 'Fushcia', Goreum is a woman who is confident with her abilities and oozes with maturity.

Beneath all the labels that have been thrown upon her, Goreum is actually anything but socially inept and meek. Goreum can be rather sarcastic (almost to the point of being blunt) and quick-witted. These two traits of her, although it can be quite useful, always manages to get her into some fights or troubles. Being raised by a mother who had a way with words and charming people around her, Goreum learned to be subtle with her words; though they may sound dull, those words normally hit quite close to the heart. 

Other than her good traits, Goreum is really stubborn; when Goreum sets her mind on to something, she will put in her utmost effort on her work - she is the type to go after what she wants by any means. Not only that, even though Goreum has a rather good tendency to willingly help people, sometimes she forgets about her own well being in the process of helping others . She's rather aggressive too. As a matter of fact, it has been said that Goreum has very low patience and is a natural hot-head. Although no one has ever seen her blow up, it is quite easy to irk her but most of the time, she is relatively kind and rational.

Seeing as she represents the colour 'Pink', Goreum does not stray far from her 'true' nature. She is sometimes described as a bit of a flirt and uses this to her advantage. Although she is not a player, Goreum comes close to being one. She often breaks a few hearts here and there but most of those times were actually for payback. She has never experience real love - between lovers, that is - and therefore, she is actually naive when it comes to her heart's desires. Seeing as she has never experienced true love, she often over-reacts whenever she sees someone (whom she has a crush on) is being romantic towards another person - to put it simply, she is just really clueless with the whole love thing. All of her life, she grew up with a lot of family love - her mother and her workers - she had no one that was of her age and she didn't exactly understand the concept of love that her cousins seem to be flaunting about.

Although Goreum is kinda sensitive (especially when it comes to issues about mothers), Goreum is a strong-willed and determined person; not one to lose or give up in a fight easily. Goreum has a soft spot for little kids: seeing as she does not have any siblings, she finds pleasure out of being surrounded by little kids. That's when her childishness comes out; she would often play with these kids, treating them or anything that would make them happy. Being around kids shows her childish innocence.

Let us move delve deeper into Goreum; when she is sad, she would casually brush it off at first and appears to take little interest in anything but when she is alone, that's when the waterfall starts. If she ever cries in front of a person, consider yourself lucky because she rarely shows that vulnerable side of hers to people. When she cries, she just doesn't cry about one thing, she will cry for everything that she has loss. So much so, by the time she finishes crying, she would be extremely exhausted. To piss Goreum is quite easy; just make her wait for a long time because she absolutely has low patience therefore she tends to get irritated. Cheering Goreum is really easy; talk about her mother! But be reminded that it could go two ways; absolutely fine and absolutely wrong.

Bottom line is, Goreum is a girl that can never be defined. One minute, you think you have her all figured out but the next, you're like 'what did she just do'. At times like these, it's best to just go with the flow of the rollercoaster ride that is known as 'Han Goreum'.

Background :

It was rumoured that Goreum is an illegitimate child. Her mother, a woman from the wealthy and well-known Lee Bon family, had an affair with an unknown man. To conceal the truth from the media, the head of the Lee Bon family, Goreum's grandmother, banished the two of them (along with a handful of workers) to their second mansion, which was conveniently located in 'The Fallen'. 

Life in 'The Fallen' was really... there were not enough words in the English dictionary that could probably describe Goreum's experiences and memories as a child in that town. For the first two years of her life, Goreum was kept locked inside the house, with her mother and the workers. At the age of two years old, Goreum was a really quiet and curious girl; she would often cause ruckus amongst the people living in the house because somehow, as a kid, she loved playing hide and seek. It once took half than a day to find Goreum when she played hide and seek with her family because she was really quiet. 

Her first appearance to the world outside of her house in 'The Fallen' was a bittersweet experience. Goreum had been convincing that everyone were as nice as the workers in her house as well as extremely generous and loving as her mother. At the age of five, Goreum learned that the world was a rather cold place and we cannot simply please everyone. She was bullied because of the stories and the rumours that travelled around about her birth, her mother's and how her grandmother had banished them. It was quite a lot for the five year old to take in. She was also confused to the extent that the first few symptoms of her power began to show. At that time, she was at her play room, playing with her dolls as she babbled about her days in school. Seeing as this was something that Goreum normally did, the nanny merely let her be and decided to go to the kitchen to get a glass of water but when she came back, she was more than surprised. Goreum's dolls were alive and talking, playing with the five year old Goreum. When the nanny sputtered about this to Goreum's mother, Goreum's mother merely shushed the nanny dismissively and told her that it was just her imagination.

As her power began to steadily grow, Goreum was often avoided in school mainly because she kept talking to her 'imaginary friend'... which as a matter of fact is not imaginary at all. Whenever she voiced this out to her mother, her mother merely told her that she was a 'special child' and 'you take after your father'. Goreum did not mind though; she never liked playing with the rest of her classmates. She had her fair shares of being isolated and left out of group activities but that did not make her sad. She was quite happy to be able to work with her teachers. Despite being called a 'freak' and the 'Demon's daughter', Goreum merely brushed off their insults and continued with her life. 

At the age of thirteen, Goreum was far more mature than those of her age. Her mother was starting to grow weak as the time passed by. Goreum began to spend more time with her mother and her 'family', learning how to be independent. Despite being busy with her school work, Goreum never failed to learn a thing or two every day for her mother. The two of them would often spend the weekends, talking about her mother's life before she was born, why she had powers and why her grandmother did what she had to do. Her mother kept on reminding her that 'Grandma Lee Bon did what she had to do. I broke the rules and I faced the consequences. But you know what? It was worth it. You're worth it." 

At the age of fifteen, that was the first time Goreum ever shed tears. When her mother finally passed away in her sleep, Goreum cried throughout the day. She mourned over the wonderful things that her mother will never get to see and the loss of a really wonderful mother. This was also the first time her 'astral form' came to be; she cried herself to exhaustion - so much so, the next time she woke up, she was in the astral plane. It took the workers a while to get her to wake up. Even though Goreum was thoroughly educated with her studies and is somewhat of a well-rounded person, it still did not stop her from feeling extremely at loss.

It took her grandmother five months after her mother's death to bring her to the main house in the mainland. Being in the main house was horrible for Goreum. Seeing as she did not have her strongest pillar of support, Goreum was often teased by the rest of her cousins and her cousins' friends that came to visit. It was horrible; when her cousins first found out that Goreum had powers, they kept on bullying her - telling her to bring this and that to life and when Goreum protested and did not abide to their wishes, Grandma Lee Bon would often mock Goreum, telling her that she was nothing but a 'demon's child' and at times spanking her for 'existing'. 

At the age of seventeen, Goreum learned to be what she is today. It took her a while to actually master her powers, due to the fact that she had no one to teach her and the only one who seemingly had knowledge of who could have taught her was her mother and she was long gone. Goreum was immune to her cousins' jests and insults. Instead of confronting them, Goreum uses subtle ways to get back to them. Goreum grew up to be a pretty fine lady and she knew she was beautiful. Whenever any of her cousins would get a boyfriend and flaunt about it to Goreum, she would always subtly steal the boyfriend away. Her cousins have an inkling it was her but they never seem to figure how she could be at two places in one time; sneaky Goreum has only shown her cousins her main power and not the other two. She learned to fight fire with fire and seeing as she was tired of being treated the way she was treated, i.e. being kept prisoner and confined to the house (like her mother was), Goreum would often try to rebel her way out of the house. The most... perhaps idiotic thing she has ever done to anger her Grandma Lee Bon was to get a tattoo with the words 'human' on it. It served as reminder to herself that she was human (and still is human) although to her Grandma Lee Bon, it was as if Goreum was mocking her about it.

Long story short, Goreum had a handful of things happening in her past that made her who she is today.

- Her name literally translates to 'one cloud'.

- Despite having nearly the whole 'Lee Bon' family disliking her, all Goreum wants is for Grandma Lee Bon to actually accept her as a part of the Lee Bon family.

- She is highly afraid of bugs and insects.

- She has a 'hug' teddy bear in which she received just before her mother died. It was also the last thing her mother had hugged. Hence she calls it the 'hug' teddy bear.

Hometown : A rural town in the middle of nowhere - no one speaks of the actual name of the town. They normally refer to it as 'The Fallen'; highly dense population for a town in the middle of nowhere.

Power :  Mental Projection | Basically this power enables the owner (or in this case Goreum) the ability to project one's thoughts, consciousness and emotions into reality. She can generate rather elusive entities of emotions and structures from the mind: usually memories of events and real people meant to confuse the victims can feel like amazingly real events.

Other abilities :

Psychic Shield | This basically is the psychic equivalent to invincibility; it allows Goreum to protect herself from any or all mental intrusion, psychic or empathic powers. Those who try to get through the shield will only hear static.

Astral Projection | Goreum is able to separate her spirit from her body. It enables her to mimic the traits of a ghost. It normally makes her stay invisible but those with mental abilities will be able to sense and see her.

Physical Weapon : none.

Conscience : Luce | small hedgehog | Seeing as Luce is rather petite (they did say wonderful things come in small sizes), Luce normally sits on Goreum's head or her shoulders. They have a really tight bond and they are really comfortable with each other. So much so, they do not even need words to communicate with each other because they just understand each other really well. But at times, Luce has his time when he gets pretty stern but most of the time, he means well. 

 

 

"Lost and Found"

Exo Guardian : Lu Han.

Location : In the blue star, on one fine sunny day. Specific location: underneath a table, in a restaurant.

Reaction : Goreum was so startled by his sudden appearance that she shot up - forgetting the fact that she was underneath a table - and ended up hitting the back of her head on it. She was shocked, flustered and flabbergasted all at the same time.

Credibility : It took a while for Goreum to actually believe Luhan due to the fact that he kept on staring at her, furrowing his brows every now and then. In reality, Luhan was just trying to use his powers on her but all he could hear was static. When Luhan was able to subtly show his powers to Goreum, she felt somewhat apologetic and guilty for not believing him. Though Goreum got annoyed with his constant staring.

Willingness : Goreum did not even let Luhan finish his sentence before agreeing to everything that he was saying. Although she was slightly skeptical about him (and also how he constantly stares at her), she agreed immediately for she always wanted to be far away from the grasps of Grandma Lee Bon.

 

"I Love You"

Love Interest : Byun Baekhyun.

His Power : Photokinesis.

Does he use it against you? : No.

 

How well do you get along? : These two definitely get along like water and oil... They are constantly at each other's throats for the littlest things. Everything that Goreum does gets under Baekhyun's skin and everything about Baekhyun irks Goreum. Even though they are constantly seeing going at each other's throats, people can see their blantant feelings for each other - they could literally see the chemistry (and ual frustration!) between the two of them. Although, you could only see that if you squint hard enough; otherwise, you would just see two overgrown babies having a verbal fight. These two have a love-hate relationship, one would say. They can only be nice to each other for three hours at most before either one would start off another verbal fight. Even so, when there comes a time when Goreum needs someone to be there for her, surprisingly the first person she stumbles upon is Baekhyun. Despite all their fights, these two are somewhat in sync with their movements... after all, they did 'opposites attract'. 

 

Do you like him at first? : No.

If yes : 

If no : There was just something about Baekhyun that makes Goreum want to high-five him in the face with the thickest book she could find. The way he put himself down makes her blood boil actually and how he is constantly being bullied and being called weak - she just wants to smack him for not standing up for himself... Though honestly, in some ways, Baekhyun reminded her of her previous life back in the blue star they called Earth.

Does he like you at first? : no.

If yes : 

If no : She was just too different from him. Baekhyun couldn't understand her nor could he understand himself whenever he's around her. It's like whenever she's around, Baekhyun's personality takes a 360 degree turn. He's not quite sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing but despite all of the fighting they do, Baekhyun often finds himself wondering 'what if' and always has thoughts of wanting to better himself and to be her strongest pillar of strength.

If no to both, who falls first? : Baekhyun.

 

"I Love You Too!"

Love Interest : Do Kyungsoo.

His Power : Geokinesis.

Does he use it against you? : nope.

 

 

How well do you get along? : Just ready yourself a bucket of popcorn and some sodas. These two put together are more interesting than a TV series. Goreum and Kyungsoo are not necessarily quite close with each other but they have some sort of tightly-knitted chemistry that sparked between the two of them when they first met each other. These two get along like a house on fire, enough said. All's fair in love and war: she gives him as much as he gives her.

Do you like him at first? : a little bit of both.

If yes : There was just something about Kyungsoo that reminded her of the warmth that her mother exuberated to everyone in the house. It was something that she loved from her mother and to see that similar warmth radiating from him pulled her towards him.

If no : Because of the same reason; Goreum is somewhat afraid that once he finds something (or rather someone) better, she will be left alone. She does not think she could actually handle having a warmth like her mother's (even though she knew it was entirely different) being taken away from her.

Does he like you at first? : yes.

If yes : does not have a particular reason nor a specific one. He just simply like what he sees.
