Let's start off with that word 'illegal' right there in the second definition. That's right, folks - is illegal. Although I honestly think it should be understood that having any sort of romantic/ual relationships with someone directly related to you is just wrong. But apparently not, so it had to be made into a law.

 

I do not understand why writers suddenly thought it'd be fun to make couples related. Out of all the people in this entire world, do you know how many are NOT related to you closely? A lot. A whole lot. So why is it suddenly necessary that these couples need to be directly related? Why, when there are so many people out there to meet and get to know? I thought everyone had enough of their families at home...

 

Do these writers not have siblings? A family? I don't mean to be rude or disrespectful if that is really the case, but honestly, it's disgusting. Perhaps the reason I'm so against - besides the obvious - is because I have a brother, and doing that stuff with my brother is unthinkable and just wrong. I love my brother, but in a family way, not a romantic way. As I should.

 

Because I believe that if you have a sibling, you sure as hell wouldn't write about two siblings being in love (unless you suddenly have those feelings...). It'd be awkward and odd, and I don't care if you're not writing about yourself - it's the idea itself that should repel you. The idea of being in love with your brother/sister as your characters are should disgust you.

 

And, in all honesty, I do believe fics are a cheap way to create drama. That is beyond the moral part of why I hate - this is the more literary view, I suppose. Usually, fics are centered around, "Oh my gosh, I love my ____. How will I deal with this?" There's not much more to it, and that's depressing as is. 

 

Am I saying all of them are poorly plotted? No. There are exceptions as there always are, I must admit. And are there bad plots in other types of writing? Of course. This isn't limited to .

 

All in all, I despise mainly for the reason that it is wrong and unnatural.
