Background:
If you asked Zayne where he would be going to school when he was older, he woudn't have told you that he would pack up his entire life and move across the world to Korea. He never planned on leaving Canada, at least not until school was over, but circumstances changed where he ended up.
Zayne is an only child, born to first generation Korean Canadians who always had high expectations for him. They, like any parents, wanted the best for their son and wanted him to have a much more successful life than they had. As a result, there was an exorbitant amount of pressure put on him at a young age. From the age of seven, his parents had him in tennis, wanting him to have the chance at an athletic future if he wanted one. School was always priority number one, Zayne not really ever having the chance to make friends outside of the classroom. This was the biggest factor in creating his shy demeanour as an adult as well as built the functional and inquisitive brain he has.
Zayne found out when he was a teenager that he wasn't straight and to honest, he never really saw anything wrong with it. Growing up in the west, it wasn't as unheard of for someone to be gay so there wasn't never a lot of call for him to be ashamed of it. He never viewed it as a big deal, it was just something he happened to be. Though, he kept it from his parents, not sure what they would think.
Thought all of that sounds taxing, Zayne didn't mind the hard work too much as long as he got time to pursue his real interest and passion. Astrophysics. All things having to do with space. He learned about the planets in his third grade class and that got the ball rolling. As he got older though, it was starting to become obvous to him that his parents wouldn't support his major as they had their hearts set on him attending medical school, and he knew better than to question their decision.
So for his first two years of college, he attended a University in Canada, majoring in medical science and minoring in physics, though the years of not being able to study what he really wanted to was starting to take a toll on him and after his sophmore year came and went, he decided he needed a change before he cracked.
So he did the unthinkable. He started applying to colleges away from Canada. He didn't really care where, they just needed to have an Astronomy program he could enter. Finally, he stumbled across Neo City University. It was definitely prestigious and expensive, so he would have to apply for one of the scholarships, but it was far away from his parents, it had the program he was looking for, and it was in Korea, so he wouldn't have to learn a new language. Seemed almost perfect. He was well aware of how conservative and taboo being homoual is in Korea, but he decided that the many pros outweighed the one con. He was only there for school anyway. He could leave as soon as it was over.
He sent in his applications and paperwork for the scholarship and he shipped out, despite the protests from his parents.
This was his first year at NCU and he is looking forward to the summer to just relax and enjoy himself.

Zayne loves his parents. They gave him everything, always loved him, and simply wanted the best for him. But as of late, he is incredibly distant with them, deciding that he won't sacrifice his own dreams in liue of theirs. They didn't approve of him moving away to Korea, but they are still under the impression that he is studying medical school, so they didn't put up a big fight about it. They call often, but he picks up the phone maybe once every two weeks. They often threaten to head over there to visit him themselves.

He met Jaelin almost immediately after he started school in Korea. She was also an athlete and made an effort to introduce herself to him. Since then, she has been someone who constantly wants to pull him out of his shell, her being so outgoing and social. Usually when he is seen out, it's because she invited him. He appreciates that she thinks about him at all, let alone invites him to hang out. Plus, she isn't bothered by the fact that he's gay in the slightest.

Its hard to know everyone on a college campus as they are usually large and this one has the added bonus of a lot of the students having known each other for years. As a part of the athletic department, Zayne definitely knows of the two of them, but he has barely said a word to them. He can't say that he wouldn't like to get to know them or make more friends, but his shy self always seems to get in the way of that. Plus, Minseok never seems to be around and he usually sees Yoon Oh hanging out with Heeyoung.

Zayne met both girls through Jaelin, so they are all aware of each other and when they are in the same space, they are friendly to each other. Though they haven't ever hung out separate from Jaelin. They pass each other in halls occasionally and say hi and if Zayne is ever at a function they are at, he will most likely say hello. They are kind to him which he is thankful for and obviously best friends.

I don't drink...never had a drink actually. I suppose if I was drunk, I would be funner to be around? Or at least that's what my roommate keeps telling me.

Dongheon and Zayne out on a date, backlash or bullying, them going shopping.
So I put the idea in there that Zayne hadn't come out yet, so if you're comfortable writing something like that, go for it! If not, feel free to edit that! They can know and approve, know and disaprove and it can just be Zayne and Dongheon against the world type-ish. Open to any and all editing.
