avery was born in toronto, canada from a korean father and a cape verdean mother. she was the second child of the couple. since a young age, her sister and avery were always been a center of attention. people asking what they are because they don't look like their dark brown skinned mother or like her asian father. avery was definetly annoyed by it everytime she was asked these questions. would always give a quick answer that she's both, asian and african.

by the age of seveen, avery started dancing lessons while her sister was doing cheerleading. avery loved dancing. she focused mainly on social dances and her favourite being salsa as a kid. as her children were growing up, her parents made sure to make them aware of their mixed heritage and to be proud of it. learning the languages, music, history and even going on vacation there. every summer, they would all fly to cape verde for a month and every winter break, they would go to south korea for two weeks. the two girls loved going to cape verde, enjoying the beautiful views, beaches, food, seeing their grandmother and father, cousins, avery loved getting new traditional clothing and dresses. the kids learned how to understand cape verdean creole. then, going to south korea was quite different. being in the early 2000's korea wasn't as diverse as now. being stared at in the streets, people being curious about their skin color, hair or even making comments made avery very uncomfortable... to the point of not wanting to come to korea as a child. outside from that, she loved korean food, culture, music, and loved extremely the traditional dresses.

at school, avery was a great student. excelling at school, in her social dances competition but, she felt like something missing. avery started to sketch clothing for fun and mix match clothes. then, her love for fashion grew and fast. by the age of 15, avery was obsesed with youtube and started her youtube channel. her channel was growing slowly but surely, then, she decided to make a blog when instagram started. it grew way faster with her fashion style, fun stories and deep talks. she made a whole community with her blog. she was able to be invited to events all over the world by fashion designers, makeup brands and even more.

her youtube channel blew up the last two years. it became her second source of income. when she moved to south korea to live with her older sister, her channel grew way faster than before. she started having korean viewers and then, she had her ''scandal'' when she talked about her childhood and visiting korea in the early 2000's. instead from hate, she received a lot of love. avery was invited to few beauty related shows in korea to talk about fashion and curly hair.

then, eventually, she got chosen as a host for the real. it was a surprise for her. she never expected to be chosen, her older sister was very excited to see her sister finally be successful in korea at the same time as her.

lifestyle  right now, Avery lives with her older sister who's often away because of her modelling career. since living in Seoul is expensive, she preferred to live at her sister's place to save money. before joining the real, Avery filmed twice a week, one vlog another was a content video. her blogs were mainly a week in my life or whenever she had a special event or a trip. it was online every Sunday at 3 PM. content videos every Thursday. she would be taking pictures for her blog during the week and a blog post would be made on Tuesday. she had a quite busy schedule. event through that schedule, she made time to do what she enjoys to do, hanging out with friends, playing games, cooking and baking. now, since the real started, she had to make sacrifices for her youtube channel, she uploads once a week every Sundays 5 pm. she would switch up every week a bvlog or a content video. her blogging schedule stays the same every Tuesday. she would film & write two three videos and blog posts to help her keep on schedule. every day, she wakes up at 5 am, get ready and get on the set by 7 am. makeup, hair and dressed up to have a meeting about the different subjects of the day before starting filming live by 12 pm, meeting with fans during commercial breaks and continue filming until 1 pm. as soon, it is terminated, they go back for debriefing, meetings and preparing the next episode. they finish around 5 pm, then, sometimes, avery runs back home to sleep, eat and binge watch Netflix or runs to hang out with her squad or writing & editing. her weekends are when she goes out the most and get things done, before starting again on Monday.

Avery was flying back home (Toronto) from Cape Verde when she found out as soon she arrived back to Toronto, she quickly broke off things with her boyfriend and had a big discussion about racism + how dating someone of a different race isn't gonna erase racism.

I was driving to the studio when my amazing manager called me talking about, ''I got a crazy project for you. you might be interested, do not freak out when I tell you.'' then, she told me and I ended up screaming in my car of excitement.
are you familiar with the American version of this show? if so, who's your favourite host?
oh yes, I am very familiar. since it isn't dispo on tv oversea, I just have to tune in with small parts on youtube. Adrienne, Tamera, Loni and Jeannie mai are amazing ladies. I'm a huge fan of the real.

Hm... I would say that I'll be a voice for a different group of people; for the young adult, for foreigners, for biracial in Korea. I think these things would make me stand out.

I may be a youngster but, I think it is important for the youth to talk about a mature subject without being shunted down or labelled as a bad example. it is by talking about it that the younger generation will learn and knows what to avoid and what to do. I won't be afraid to talk about it.
