🐯 In his humanoid form, Honglin got white tiger ears, a tail, and 3 pairs of white stripes on his cheeks as facial markings, setting the standard for tiger laguz. And due to being a tiger-tribe laguz, Honglin developed a well-build body, even though he's not classified as "the big-guy" like his brother and most older beast laguz (he believes this is due to his age is still relatively young to be able to reach the perfect body proportion). He has dark brown hair with white highlights. He is also rather well-groomed and neat in appearance.

🐯 Honglin always tries to look neat wherever he goes. He does this in order to attract women's attention so that it will be easier when he is flirting with them. When not wearing his uniform, it's common to see him wearing a pair of chinese traditional tang suit with white shirt underneath and decent shoes, from neutral tones to the red ones.

Loyal // Honglin is extremely loyal if you manage to befriend him. And though he may act inconsiderate towards others, he would do anything for them if the need arose. After all, the Bei family always known for their undying loyalty. It' a trait which the Bei brothers believed to be the inheritance of their family.
Supportive // Honglin is a very good listener, and is always willing to listen to other people's problems. The advice he offers in return is often surprising, but effective. His friends consider him to be a great companion, always available for support, whether as a shoulder to cry on or simply to get together and have fun.
Honest // If someone asks him for his opinion, he doesn’t sugar coat it. He’ll come out and stand up for what he believe in, even if that’s not what the other person wants to hear. Sometimes he can hurt someone easily by his honesty, but usually the purpose is to help that other person to grow. Sometimes truth stings, you know? He trades the word “shame” for the word “bold”. Sometimes, he does not realize when the opponent is far stronger or even after he knows the opponent is stronger than him; regardless, he will continue to fight. He refuses to accept himself as inferior to anyone. This is due to people making fun of his transformed appearance which looks cute and harmless when he was younger, saying that he needs to "get beat up" in order to transform.
Humorous // Honglin got a good sense of humor and you'll never gets boring around him. He is spontaneous and will pull almost any stunt for a laugh. He's not a smart person, but he probably has a vast knowledge of peculiar facts to make a punchline that will make you laugh until your belly hurts.
Energetic // He constantly laughing, getting excited, maybe talking a bit too loud about something he like and occasionally drifting off. He can't sit still for quite a long time. During a fight with bandits, it's possible to find a happy Honglin jumping around, laughing like a child and slapping enemies, as well as allies sometimes.
Bold // He is going boldly through life, not hesitating much and not very fearful when confronted with relatively small risk or danger and/or possible rejection by common, mundane, ignorant humanity. He stands up for something or taking a step or making an action while fully aware of it's likely consequences or the danger involved.
Flirty // He flirt because it’s fun and playful - perhaps inferring that he'll flirt with anyone, regardless of his attraction to them. He also flirt to deepen a relationship, like explore someone’s reaction to his flirting, gain something, improve his self-esteem or to indicate he’s attracted to someone. This behavior lets everyone know he aren’t shy and that he can be fun and charming. Extremely flirtatious, Honglin is most well-known for being an eligible bachelor and all around serial dater. His good looks and overall charm make him extremely popular with the female army (anywhere between the ages of 16 and 25) despite this though. However, despite being swooned over and often reciprocating most flirtation he receives, when committed to another person Honglin only flirts and teases them exclusively and brushes off any and all other flirtation he receives He makes a point of showing off his significant other constantly and making sure people who do flirt with him are aware he's happily taken. He isn't typically easily flustered either but gushes over anything he thinks is cute.
Light-minded, Silly // Honglin always showing a lack of serious purpose, attitude, etc. He also can be extremely silly when he feels comfortable around people, and might surprise others with how goofy he can get. His unique brand of humor and his sometimes absurd goofiness, is something that he only feel comfortable sharing with certain people. He will often enjoy making jokes and being goofy in order to entertain his friends. He love being able to keep a smile on everyone’s face, and is not afraid to show his silly side.
Mischievous // His mischievous nature often means he can be found hiding around corridor corners or somewhere secluded, thinking up new schemes to prank others with.
Outspoken, Dry/sarcastic // Pretty much a living embodiment of sarcasm, he usually has some smartass response to everything. He can be somewhat blunt when it comes to speaking his mind on more serious topics, and isn't afraid of telling the truth, but tends to water it down as he doesn't like hurting other people's feelings.
Boastful // Honglin really is a bragger. He doesn't stop bragging even when you avoid eye contact, chuckle at his apparently unconscious character flaw, or show your boredom with a yawn, either. That’s because he doesn’t notice, he is either insensitive to begin with or becomes insensitive while bragging.
Distractable // He has a short attention span, and if something isn't particularly interesting, he tends to move around a lot, and his eyes start flitting around everywhere. He can't really focus on something for too long unless it really clicks with him.
Childish // Being the youngest Bei also led to Honglin being babied by his brother and cousin. He can be a little immature from time to time, Doing funny things, acting like child, making faces, sounds, and (annoyingly) constant whining. His childlike behavior is easiest displayed when he doesn't get his way as he often pouts of whines. He whine when he doesn't get what he want, and he whine when he does, as he sometimes typically doesn’t know what he truly want. He can whine to his brother, cousin, and friends about getting attention, but when he’s given attention it feels hollow because he truly want to be admired on a regular basis. His anger ranges from being entirely cold to utterly explosive which is then followed by periods of sulking.
Rebellious // Honglin does not like being told what to do, he would rather give the orders. He dislikes that people bow to authority so easily or accept the status quo without question. He almost always disregard the reasons for rules, even though the outcomes are likely to be painful or of disadvantage to him. He also enjoy making others uncomfortable. Since being out of the ordinary is his trademark, he occasionally enjoy making ordinary folks feel out of sorts. Being ordinary is something he’ve never understood and he find it a fun activity to poke under people’s shells and see how they react to abnormal situations.
Impatient // He's unable to work on something for long hours and expects results asap, unless it really clicks with him. He resent being held up, whether intentionally by another person or just accidentally in the normal course of events. He may annoy you with many requests which he want to be done right away, and can cause you much distress if he is in a position to place demands on you.
Indecisive // When making decisions about something he has wanted for a long time, he still ends up weighing pros and cons before he can comfortably make a move, and he may end up losing his chance due to his indecisiveness.
Dense // He's also dense, and he has difficulty in understanding things that are the slightest bit complicated or rely heavily on a specific process, and he tends to say stupid thoughts that don't make any sense. His head is just too thick to teach anything to him.

Honglin was born during the chaotic times of Xue'liang, where many groups conspired to dethrone King Xue from his position. The leader of this rebellion was none other than Heo Joonho, leader of the group of beorcs who came several years ago, claiming to have been tired of the racial conflict between laguz and beorc, and came risking their lives to propose peace. Newly authorized for 2 months as Chief State Councilor, he began to screen the civil war so that the laguz tribe could kill each other and his group could control the country. Sure it was not easy, but his two-faced personality managed to deceive many parties. In the next 6 years he managed to create a civil war between the laguz tribe.
As one of the most influential people in Xue'liang and known for his undying loyalty to his country, Honglin's father, Bei Jingyu, must had been the main target in this war, second to King Xue. He fought until his last breath on the battlefield was accompanied by his brother-in-law, Chen Yifeng who was the ex-husband of Chief Heo's nephew. Jingyu never expect that around ¾ of the laguz tribe that inhabited Xue'liang turned out to be on the side of Chief Heo, so the troops he led killed in the war, all of them, including Yifeng and Jingyu himself.
Immediately after hearing the news of the death of her husband and brother on the battlefield, Chen Yifei immediately woke her sons and told them to sneak to her sister-in-law's house, Heo Seorim, while she distracted the guards sent by that devil beorc. Although not willing to leave his mother alone, the eldest Helin could tell that they had no other way because sooner or later the devils would take their lives, so he reluctantly followed his mother's request. Meanwhile the youngest Honglin cried loudly, not wanting to go anywhere without her mother by his side. After all, he was only a 6-year-old boy who didn't understand anything about the incident. At least it took some time to make Honglin fall asleep so that Helin could take him away without attracting the attention of the guards. And in that endeavor, from a distance Helin saw with his own eyes how his mother died in the hands of the guards.
Fortunately, no one was guarding Seorim's residence, considering that she was Chief Heo's nephew, and Seorim was known for respecting her uncle, even willing to divorce with Yifeng for her uncle's sake. Helin and Honglin could easily enter the house and meet their aunt, told her all the events that Seorim should know. At first Seorim did not believe when Helin told how their mother was killed in the hands of Chief Heo's subordinates, arguing that it was impossible for her uncle to do such a thing and still believe in her uncle's story that the king started the war to expel all the beorcs from the country. The racial conflict between laguz and beorc is technically older than the laguz and beorc themselves, but all this time Seorim believes that they can life peacefully in Xue'liang, as happened for almost the past decade. She realized after reading the letter from Yifei and saw the jade given by her husband. She realized that all this time she had been deceived by the angel mask of her uncle.
The following night, Seorim took his daughter and nephews to leave the country. At that time Seorim thought she had no other choice but to return to her home country, so she mindlessly sailed to Dalbyeol with two laguz and a branded.
Their journey went smoothly and they arrived at the destination safely. Seorim rushed to the house of her relatives, only to have swords pointed to her neck because she dared to bring those creatures to their homes. Seorim tried to convince them that one of them was her daughter, but she only ended up being labeled a traitor. Lucky one of the elders sided with Seorim, and after lengthy negotiations, the elders decided to let them live and would send them to a place that might receive them, in this case the enemy area.
Apparently Seorim was wrong when she thought that they would be fine after that. The elders did protect them until they arrived at the port, but there was a group of racist beorc who passed them and clearly saw Honglin's facial marking. Seorim swiftly pulled Honglin to hide behind her as the elders were trying to deal with them, but at that time Honglin was still too young and stubborn to understand what was happening. He took off his hood instead because he felt it too hot to have his head covered by the black hood and that's when the elders could no longer find an excuse when they had seen Honglin's tiger ears. Inevitably, physical fights arise between them. In the chaos Seorim took the opportunity to bring her daughter and the Bei brothers to board a ship that would soon sail in seconds. Bei brothers and Seorim's daughter managed to get on board, while Seorim herself died with an arrow piercing her heart when she was just about to join them on the ship.
The ship arrived in Hwail a few days later, and after learning that the three children did not have relatives or acquaintances there, the sailor took them to an orphanage managed by Mr. Oh. That's where they lived and grew up with a few other children who were unlucky like them.
For the next few years, Helin spent his days learning how to fight, going into town and learning about the country around him, and took care of his brother and cousin. He possesed great skill in fighting so Mr. Oh ask him to enroll in Army. Helin quickly got a good position in the army. A few years later, Honglin dan Chenchen were enrolled into the army but were treated like a normal foot soldier. Despite his age of fourteen, Honglin caught the attention of several members of the army with his reckless fighting style, including Prince Hyunwoo. He called out for him specifically, asking why a boy his age would be joining the army. Honglin gave a very basic explanation and Prince Hyunwoo asked him to work under him.

Unlike Honglin, he's mature and serious about what he does. What happened in the past left him some psycological problem, in other words, have grudge against sentiment beorcs. He trained hard to get a good position in the Army, so that later when the time comes, he could tear many beorcs in two.
As the oldest brother figure for Honglin and Chenchen, he educated both of them to be loyal and brave person, who are willing to risk their lives to protect their kind.

Honglin's beloved cousin whom he considered as his own sibling. Honglin preferred to call refers her as older sister rather than older female cousin, regarding that they grew up and together and Chenchen tends to be bossy towards him.
She's a tiger heritage branded. Her official artwork shows a white mark on the right side of her chest, which is likely her brand. Even though she looks rather weak and and tends to be chatty, you can't underestimate her ability. She sees Helin as her role model and tries hard to exceed her own ability while training so that she can protect herself in any mission or later in war.

These two met at the army. His mischiefousness and rebelliousness make him get along pretty well with Changbin, and naturally become close with Wooyoung since he was always by Changbin's side, and also related to each other for having no parents around. Wooyoung would be the one who drags them out of trouble and scolding Honglin for being childish and giving a bad influence on Changbin.
Initially he did not understand the concept of revenge which had made Helin become who he is now, but after seeing Wooyoung, he could now understand the reason behind it. Luckily he was still so young when he lost his parents in Xue'liang war. Otherwise, maybe now he would be a cold and bitter person like Wooyoung, and it's not "cool" and "fun" at all.

Sejin and three other branded started to live in the orphanage managed by Mr. Oh a few years after Honglin lived there and naturally became close to them. Of all his friends, Sejin is the most frequent partner in his assignment/mission since Sejin is known as the youngest strategist in the army. Honglin finds his bright and bubbly nature is very likeable and is easy to mess around with. Sejin sure isn't Honglin's favorite person cause he's a man LOL.

Woojoo's older sister and Helin's girlfriend. Honglin is very grateful that his brother has Yoojoo by his side. When Helin was only busy paying attention to Honglin and Chenchen and his position in the army, Yoojoo was always by his side to remind Helin to pay attention to himself. Since dating Yoojoo, Helin has quite often shown his soft side so Honglin really likes her and go around calls her his future sister in-law. When the two of them had a fight, Honglin always upset with his brother instead and beg him to quickly make up with her.

Initially Honglin too was sceptical of Shiwoo, not many of the other children played with him as he was considered quite serious, and thus not “cool” or “fun”. However, as these two got to know one another they became friends, sharing similar “pains” which they don't really understand – have to grow up without parents since they were very young. Despite their obvious opposing personalities, the two get along extremely well. Often when Honglin, Shiwoo, Sejin, Woojo, and Jaesung were seen spending a lot of time together, some of their peers commented that perhaps Honglin had brainwashed Shiwoo, to which they simply ignored. Honglin likes to a lot cause he find it cute when he's angry.

When not with Hwiyun, he must be with Honglin, flirting here and there or betting on who dropped the most bandits in the border area. He's also getting along well with Helin but Helin hates it when he drags Honglin along to get involved in problems.
