Background Lily Nari Kim (born Liliana Nari Kim) was born on October 31st, 1998 in Milan Italy. Lily was an unplanned surprise to her Korean father and Italian mother, who were only twenty and twenty-one at the time of her birth. Despite their young age, they vowed to do anything to take care of their daughter. Life wasn't very easy for the family of three at first, but that didn't make her parents give up. Lily's father finally found a good paying job while her mother would look after some of the other children from the street. Finally, when Lily was three, things finally started looking up. In just a few years her father had managed to work his way up in his new job which helped their situation greatly, so much so that Lily's father was asked to move to Australia for his job. So on June 4th, 2001, Lily moved with her mother and father to Australia.
Once they moved to Australia, Lily was pushed right into primary school where she was forced to learn english without knowing anything about the language. What seemed difficult at first ended up not being so hard, by the end of the year she was mostly caught up with her peers thanks to the help of her parents and teachers. At the age of seven, Lily's parents finally let her participate in dance classes after the young girl had bothered them for what felt like forever. At first, Lily was hesitant and shy at the thought of dancing with other people. But slowly, slowly she started to warm up to the idea and started to fall in love with it. It wasn’t long before all of her free time was consumed by dancing and dance classes. But sadly it wasn’t long before Lily and her family had to pack up and move again. When Lily was eleven, her father got another job offer that was too good to pass up. So with a tearful goodbye Lily and her family bid farewell to Melbourne and hello to Shanghai.
Once in Shanghai, Lily was enrolled into an international school where she quickly made some friends who also recently moved to Shanghai. Her parents encouraged her to continue her dance classes in Shanghai, to which Lily agreed. She struggled a little with the language barrier when it came to dance classes but quickly adjusted and started to pick up some of the language. The start of her teenage life wasn’t ver eventful. She continued with their schooling and dancing, even joining a local dance crew when she was old enough, but it wasn’t long before her world was shook up once again. Lily’s mother and father had been tossing up here they would like to settle down as a family once her fathers job would allow it. Ultimately, Seoul was chosen by her family, meaning they would once again have to pack their belongings and move counties. Though Lily was sad at the thought of moving once again, she thought it would make one hell of a life story one day. So when Lily was sixteen, her family packed the bags once again and moved to Seoul, South Korea. Her parents also mad a point to promise her that this would be the last time they would move.
Settling in Korea was a lot easier for Lily than the other moves had been. She already spoke the language, thanks to her dad, so things were all good on that front. She was enrolled into a Korean school this time rather than an international school where she quickly joined the dance club and made a few close friends. Her high school life was pretty normal. She adjusted to life in Seoul rather fast. It was around this time that her friends from the dance club encouraged Lily to look into rapping after overhearing her rap along to songs in the dance room. Lily had never thought she was good at rapping, but with the support of her friends she dived right into it. It wasn't long before one of her friends introduced her to the underground rap scene, where she became an active member, attending as many open mic events and she could. Despite her young age, she quickly made a small name for herself and gained a small following. Despite this, she dicided to give up rapping when she enterted university to focus on her studies.
After she had finished high school and graduated with flying colours, she enrolled into university to study foreign language in the hopes of becoming a translator. On her way to school one day, she happened upon a sign about an open audition for a Japanese agency looking to form a new group. The thought for dancing and rapping for a living interested her so much so that she decided to attend the audition and give it a shot because, why not?
