personality traits.  bubbly, motherly, sharp, mood maker, clean and tidy, peculiar, noisy, loud, bipolar, terrible cook, loves skinship, talkative, daring, straightforward

personality. 

despite being 23 years old, yoojung has a bubbly personality and is able to liven up the mood of the group easily. maybe that is also because she talks wayyy too much and she’s super loud so her energy just spreads everywhere. she often gets shushed when they are at the dorm and people are trying to get some rest because there’s just no volume button on her. it also doesn’t help that the members don’t even know what she’s trying to say or do half the time, they just find her amusing and entertaining and just watch her while she's in her own world

she tries to shoot aegyo from time to time but receives complains from her members, which ends up with her tackling them into a hug, until they admit that she’s cute. why does a 23 years old want to be called cute? well that’s yoojung for you. she also tends to be bipolar and her mood changes quickly. at one moment, she can be shooting aegyo trying to cheer her members up and in another moment she can be seriously pointing out mistakes when the members are practicing. is she really the same person?

however, yoojung is able to detect the mood very well, maybe that’s why she’s the mood maker, she livens up the mood when she feels the need to but yet when things get serious, yoojung is able to sense the atmosphere right away and changes accordingly. she also gives good advice so the members often turn to her for advice with their problems and she plays the role of a mediator in times of conflict.

yoojung is rarely angry but she would always acts like she’s angry in order to get the attention of the others or to make sure that give in to her. it’s a tactic she learnt when she was younger and would often use it on her brother to get what she wants.

always making sure to provide care for her members, yoojung’s motherly instincts are very strong. she would visit everyone before midnight to make sure that they are all comfortable and snuggled in for bed before heading to bed. she’s also an early riser, so she wakes everyone up in the morning too. (she uses her loudness to her advantage here) yoojung is also a relatively neat and clean person and would clean up after others too. she would make a perfect mother, except that she can’t cook to save her life. her members would make sure that she stays far away from the kitchen whenever meal preparations are happening if not something bad is bound to happen, trust me you won’t ever want to taste yoojung’s cooking, you might regret it.

if you ever happen to get onto yoojung’s bad side you won’t need to guess or be suspicious as to whether yoojung likes you or not because she’s very straight forward with her thoughts. if she doesn’t like you, you would be able to tell immediately and she’s also very blunt with her words. she does not see the harm in speaking in a straight forward manner, even to her seniors. she’s daring and is not afraid to offend because she believes that people needs to be aware of their flaws before they can improve. initially this had caused tensions within the group but after some time they realized that yoojung is doing this in order to help the group improve so they started to accept the criticisms yoojung gave with open arms as a way to help them get better.

yes yoojung maybe cheerful and seems like she likes to joke around but she is very serious when it comes to performing, just watch her perform and you can tell that she’s very passionate about rapping on stage and takes it very seriously. yoojung makes sure that the other members in the group puts in the same amount effort which probably explains why she is the leader of adora h. she is a great motivator and makes sure that everyone is putting in effort into practicing and performing.

yoojung grew up in la with her brother where the both of them grew up and studied. with her two other closest friend, damien and michelle, she had a fun filled childhood growing up in la. when her family announced that they would be returning to seoul, she was really upset. because la was her home. it was where she grew up and made many memories, it was her childhood. she couldn’t bear to leave her friends behind.

after a heartfelt goodbye, yoojung promised to keep in contact and also to visit somehow when they were older. not having a choice, yoojung and her family returned to seoul where they settled down comfortably. hyojung adjusted to the korean lifestyle quickly and made friends easily. however, yoojung took longer than her brother. she missed la terribly and she found it hard to communicate with people around her. she did make some friends in school but she didn’t feel the same connection as compared to her friends in la, culturally they were just different. in addition, yoojung struggled with learning korean as language isn’t her forte so she could rarely put her thoughts into words in korean.

that’s when dongmin entered her life. yoojung had successfully gotten excused from pe lesson, by exaggerating her period cramps when she actually just didn’t want to do pe and was just sitting by the bleachers when the mild mannered male, who was injured at that point in time, approached her. initially, yoojung was cold and refused to speak to him but when dongmin started speaking to her in english, yoojung’s perception of the boy changed instantly. they both became quick friends and were seen hanging out often. dongmin had offered to help yoojung with her korean and thanks to his help, yoojung’s korean improved quickly.

damien and michelle were the first to know of yoojung’s crush on dongmin, which didn’t last very long. dongmin was clueless about the entire crush thing but it was gone quickly so he doesn’t need to know right? dongmin and yoojung remained as close friends and he soon earned the title of being yoojung’s best friend.

since hyojung and yoojung often did things together, when hyojung announced his plan of taking part in jyp entertainment’s audition in 2012, yoojung insisted that she would go with him. they both spent a lot of their free time practicing their rap skills and slowly put together a decent performance they could use for the audition. however, the both of them did not make it through the auditions but the siblings didn’t give up. they went for the cube auditions soon after where hyojung got accepted and yoojung did not.

yoojung grew disheartened and stopped signing up for auditions to entertainment companies. but she stumbled across the application to go onto this rap competition, show me the money. yoojung signed up with the intention of gaining more exposure to rapping and also to showcase her current skills to the public. yoojung managed to do decently well in the competition but didn’t end up winning. after her experience with the show ended, several entertainment companies attempted to get her to join their company in which she chose cube in order to join her brother.

after joining cube, she met shinji (aria’s character) and other pentagon members like hui, kino, yeo one, shinwon and wooseok. after training there for a while, yoojung realized that cube wasn’t for her. the plans that the company made for the female trainees were unlike her style of music and realized that it would not be beneficial for her to stay in the company which resulted in her departure from cube.

since then, yoojung tried looking into another entertainment company that would help her grow in her own style and came across sunlight entertainment which left a good impression on the teenage girl. hence she auditioned for sunlight and was accepted. in sunlight she managed to work on her singing and dancing as well, and when the plans for necalli came about, yoojung wasn’t considered as she wasn’t considered ready at that point in time and now after working harder, yoojung is ready to debut as part of adora.

– brother :: kim hyojung/edawn (24) / member of pentagon / equally weird / since hyojung and yoojung only have a one year age difference, they spent a lot of time together when they were growing up which explains why the both of them are so similar. they both have the same interest which explains why hyojung is currently a member of pentagon while yoojung is a trainee, preparing for debut.

– best guy friend :: lee dongmin (25) fc: astro’s eunwoo / model / charming / the first friend that yoojung made when she moved back to korea. since yoojung couldn’t speak korean very well when she first came back, she rarely talked to people but dongmin approached her first and made friends with her. dongmin knew english fairly well and could communicate with yoojung. he also helped yoojung with her korean. yoojung at one period of time had a crush on clueless dongmin, i mean who can resist his charm, especially that eyesmile damn. but she got over it quickly realizing that is was just mere infatuation that she was feeling

– la friend #1:: damien smith(24) fc: kard’s bm :: yoojung’s childhood friend from la that they keep in contact till today. damien is the jokester of the group and many of yoojung’s humor is actually picked up from him. he’s loud and obnoxious. if yoojung and damien is in the same room, i pray for your ears.

– la friend #2:: michelle adams (24) fc: blackpink’s rose :: yoojung’s childhood friend from la that they keep in contact till today. the calmest out of the trio, she somehow manages to handle both damien and yoojung. she is the most sensible and very mature for her age.

– the annoying (best) friend:: shinji (23) aria’s character :: they both met when they were in cube and since both of them are sisters of pentagon members and are of the same age, they naturally clicked along easily. also they never knew they'll see each other again when yoojung left cube, but i guess fate brought them together once again and also unleased hell for the rest of adora and their manager because the combination of yoojung and shinji, hohoho, i'll leave that up to your imagination

pre-debut.  

failed jyp and cube auditions in 2012 and decided to take part in show me the money in 2013 to hone her rap skills. competing against professional rappers, yoojung did fairly well considering that she was only a rookie rapper and was scouted by a few entertainment agencies. ultimately joining cube, yoojung trained in cube for about 1.5 years before realizing that the company wasn’t for her. in 2015, yoojung found sunlight entertainment and auditioned, and has been a trainee with them every since.

yoojung came into sunlight entertainment with high level of skills in rapping but very basic in everything else. her training in cube had only taught her the basics and she could barely be considered ready to be an idol. thankfully sunlight saw the potential in her and accepted her where yoojung started from the bottom with basic dance routines and vocal practices where she started to grow.

how do you feel about debuting?
it’s been a tough route to get here but i’m glad i am finally able to rap on stage

do you have any goals you want to achieve with Adora? 
that we all work towards our dream and be as successful as our seniors, necalli

do you have any role model? How do they inspire you? 
my brother was the one who introduced me to becoming an idol. we used to do everything together when we were younger so when my brother started auditioning for entertainment companies, i followed him to audition as well. but in the end we got separated cause he got accepted and i didn’t. that’s when i decided that i needed to find my own path which led me to where i am now.

do you have any ideal type as well? 
my ideal type.. hmm… someone who’s tall? and also is able to handle my skinship *shyly smiles*

how do you feel about being in a big group and living together? 
it’s interesting, we can work together as a group and yet also specialize in different aspects because of our units. it allows us to produce music of various genres and maybe gain a larger fanbase. living together can be tough, 13 girls of different personalities all living together but that’s what makes it fun

what do you think about adora's concept?
girl crush material. i hope we’ll be able to capture the hearts of many fans through our performance

and lastly, is there any idol you want to get to know backstage? 
epik high sunbaenim? i love listening to their works because their raps are so cool and i really respect them but they do not really perform on music programs… so maybe ikon sunbaenim? i have been following their music since their yg win days and was really sad that they didn’t win initially but im glad that they managed to debut in the end. also i would love to meet hyuna sunbaenim again, i met her before when i was still a trainee in cube but i didn't manage to hold a proper conversation with her. i think she's really cool and down to earth and i hope to be just like her in the future
