Holly Kiddell Has Been Accepted At Hogwarts!

meet Holly Kiddell:

NAME Holly Kiddell
NICKNAMES
Hollyberry - by her sisters. Just something cute and endearing. (the others go by Laurelleaf, and Weepy...okay, that one isn't very nice, but siblings, you know?)

Hollytree - okay, this isn't creative, and was originally used to try and pick on the tall girl. Little did those attempted and failed bullies know that Holly is very happy to be compared to a tree. They're magical things, you know?

BIRTHDATE October 2
BIRTHPLACE London
HOMETOWN London

BLOOD STATUS Pureblood (granted, there are half-bloods in the family tree: her mother herself is a half-blood. does that make Holly a half-blood? May...be...?)
ETHNICITY British
LANGUAGES
English - Fluent - Native

FACECLAIM Onata Abrile
APPEARANCE Holly has exceptionally dark eyes. Fortunately she's a happy girl overall, so its very rare that she levels the "Kiddell stare" at anyone (her sisters however have already perfected it). Holly is taller than most other girls her age, taking after her sisters who are known for their height as well. It's not giant by any means, but lets just say boys trying to pick on the smaller, weaker girls was never a problem for Holly and her sisters. Her dark hair is perpetually in her face, despite attempts at keeping it pinned or tied back. The mane has a mind of its own, she swears!

FASHION Practical clothing is her favorite. Dresses typically don't happen, and she hates frilly things. Dress robes will be hell for her later. Overalls, stained pants from mud and dirt, and shirts easily replaced are her items of choice.
Don't judge on what you see:

PERSONALITY
Sensitive, Boisterous, Restless, Optimistic, Lighthearted, Colorful, Long-winded, Animated, Protective

Terribly in tune with her emotions and wearing them where everyone can see them, Holly is eager to smile at just about anyone. She is ever the optimist, smiling at anyone who says hello and returning it with a loud and enthusiastic "Hiya!!" With Holly, what you see is what you get. Never one to hold onto secrets about herself, she is happy to talk about herself if asked without shame. If anyone can make a bad situation into a positive one, Holly can. There isn't a need to linger on bad feelings for very long. She just needs to do her best to smile and let those negative feelings fly away.

But Holly is increadibly sensitive. While this means she is in tune with people around her, lending itself to immense empathy on her part, she also feels things a little too intensely. It's increadibly easy to make Holly cry. Sad or angry, Holly tends to let the tears flow without a thought. It's almost too easy to read and play on Holly's emotions, and she tends to take things to heart way too easily. Normally a lighthearted, happy girls, too much negativity she can't do anything about makes Holly morose and tempermental as she doesn't know how to handle these more complex emotions well yet due to her youth.

And this youthfulness also lends itself to her boisterous, some might call boyish, propensity to just flit around and jusr find something physical to do. Active and eager, Holly sometimes just needs to run around. She's always been the kind of child you;d find in the yard making mud pies and tracking muddy footprints into the home. Sometimes this is a bit much when it's time to be quiet and reticent: Holly needs to be free and wild, not repressed damnit! And don't even think of being one of those idiots who pick on others. Holly ain't having it. She won't keep quiet about the injustices of the world, and is far to eager to jump in and intervene on things. Calm down no Holly. You can't fight everyone.

She's ready to take part in most activities, and is by no means shy. And Holly loves to talk. Give her a topic she knows, and she will talk your ear off about it. Her stories are full of detail and color, she makes big motions and gestures, and can talk as long as you'll let her. But sometimes, this story teller nature makes it really hard for Holly to get to the point. It's never "I went to the library." It's "I went down the stairs, took a left, then a right, paused to consider me options, I almost got food, but didn't!" before finally getting to the library.

BACKGROUND
A relative to Jimmy Kiddell who owns a wand shop in Diagon Alley, Holly's side of the family mainly focused on  studying and providing the wood for wandmaking. This has been a family tradition for a long time, and while they aren't nearly as well known as Ollivander, Kiddell wands aren't pieces of junk, and the family prides itself on it's craftmanship and ability to identify the perfect trees to collect wandwood from.

Fortunately for Holly, most of her young life was spent travelling with her parents, finding new resources, and documenting their details. This insulated her from much of the war, but she remembers as a younger child listening to her parents arguing with her grandparents about allegiances and what not. Laurel, her oldest sister, thinks that there is a the possibility her grandparents supported the anti-miuggle movement.

In reality, it wasn't about being against muggles. Her family were concerned about the state of muggles interfering with their forests and livelihood. To prevent their family from tearing itself apart, the Kiddell's were known to be neutrals in the war. While her parents tried to keep their business out of anything that screamed one side of the other, Laurel tells Holly that their parents were definitely pro-muggle, and in secret provided their services as a discounted price to those who thought similarly.

Outside of that, Holly and her sisters were raised learning about their family craft. Supposedly one of Holly's first words was "wand" even. While all the girls grew knowledgeable and had an inclination to carry on the family business, Holly has shown the greatest interest. At this time, while she is still too young to be certain, it is assumed she will take over the family business one day. With the war over, and business doing well, Holly really has few worries at the moment. And would be happy to take over. In fact, she has already announced she will one day make wands more well known than Ollivanders. She isn't going to simply be a specialist or supplier: Holly will one day be the one who creates wands for future students.

TRIVIA
People know the Kiddell Sisters. Laurel is pretty and daring enough to be on the quidditch team, Willow is shy and reserved but a model student, and Holly is about to come in as the final addition to their trifecta. Mess with one Kiddell, and you got the whole lot of them after you.

Holly will most likely be amazing at Herbology as she has been spending time in greenhouses and roaming forests as far as she can remember.

But she will be awful at flying due to her fear of heights, and honestly is too tactile to do well in history or potions.

The "Kiddell Stare" started with Laurel who was very good at glaring and staring down her fellow students with her dark eyes. Soon, Willow was doing the same. It is uncanny how similar the glares are, with the same intensity. One day Holly might invoke it as well.

Go ahead...get Holly on the topic of wandlore. From cores, to length, to wood, Holly can talk your ear off concerning it. Out of her siblings, she has the most interest, and will most likely be the one who continues the family business.

Holly fell out of a tall tree a year and ago, and severelt broke her arm. She is still traumatized, and can't handle heights. She fears falling again, and becomes obviously uncomfortable and fearful. She won't admit she's scared though.
Those who shape me:

FAMILY

Parents, Ash and Lydia KIddell, 39 and 41, Wandkeeper and Magical Arborist - Ash met Lydia while she helped him identify some trees wandwood could be collected from, and it was love. They are both talkative, supportive, and good overall people. Being in the Kiddell household means having your ear talked off about not only wandlore, but what they had for dinner. They are definitely pro-muggle, and dislike those who think their "pureblood" makes them better than others. During the war, they offered prices based on which faction you fell in line with: a fact unknown until after the war.

Sister, Willow Kiddell, 13, Pureblood, Hogwarts Student, A calm, astute girl who is actually quite brilliant. Willow is just as likely to go on a diatribe about a topic as Holly, and is generally well liked and polite in her house. At home, she is the "good child" who is helpful and dutiful. She is actually quite close to Laurel, and "tolerates" Holly. Truthfully, they love each other, but Holly is her kid sister, and she has to keep the little monster in check. Currently in Ravenclaw.

Sister, Laurel Kiddell, 15, Pureblood, Hogwarts Student, Laurel has no fear. Or at least exudes that aura. A quidditch player for Gryffindor, Laurel made a name for herself when she punched a Ravenclaw in the face for making a comment on her "intelligence". She is also fairly well liked in school, and has no qualms voicing her opinion. She is showing promise in transfiguration, let alone flying. Charms also come easily to her.

FRIENDS

Emery Grant, muggleborn, 12, fellow student and housemate - He meets Holly after they join the same house, and share a common love of herbology. He is the yin to her yang, and they compliment each other well. Some people might think of him as her sidekick, but in reality he just doesn't like to talk much and having Holly with him means he doesn't have to. They grow very close, and since his family often travels, comes home with her.

OTHERS
Professor of Herbology, Pomona Sprout - Professor Sprout finds an avid and engaged student in Holly. Perhaps she favors her just a little later in the year when she shows no fear in handling the scarier, more harrowing plantlife.
A new adventure:

ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT GOING TO HOGWARTS? "YES" She exclaims excitedly, nearly bouncing in her seat, "I can't wait! My sisters tell me about their classes and I want to join them!"

WHICH HOUSE DO YOU WANT TO GET INTO? "Hmm...I like the Gryffindor colors! Laurel is a Gryffindor, ya know? She looks so cool in her quiddich robes! But I'm not Laurel. Laurel is much more daring and brave than me. She once punched a sixth year in the nose when she was only a second year! Got her into trouble but she got that reputation and no one tries to pick on her now, ya know?"

IS THERE A HOUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO BE IN? "Weepy is in Ravenclaw. We don't get along as well as Laureleaf and me, so I don't think we'd do too good in the same house, ya know? This one time, I tried to use her books to stack a tower so I could get to Laurel's broom at home, and I accidently broke a spine and Weepy got sooooo mad. It was scary! I can't handle being scared for my life all day, ya know?"

WHICH CLASS ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? "Herboloy, Charms, and class that lets me learn non-verbal spells. Those are the best! Mama says you need to know these things to perfect wandmaking. Wandlore is soooo cool. As much as everyone swoons over a Pheonix feather core, I'm telling you, you can't discredit the others! What about a kelpie core? No one talks about that anymore, do they? But WHY NOT? Sure, Veela hair is tempermental, and heaven forbid trying something weird like a troll toenail, but-!" she keeps going...and going...and going...

WILL YOU BE TRYING OUT FOR QUIDDITCH? "...nope." She gets very quiet at that.

ARE YOU BRINGING A PET? "My papa told me to not worry about having a pet right now. I have my sisters to keep me company though! Maybe I'll get an owl a little later. Oooh! A great horned owl would be amazing!"

ANY THOUGHTS ON HE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED OR HIS FOLLOWERS? "My sisters and parents say he was a bad man. And people who followed him aren't much better. But my grampy says they...might have had a point? Grampy is an old grumpy man though. He's nice to me! But so rude to mama, it's silly really!"

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO ADD? Instead of answering, someone mentions wand selection offhand, and Holly is too distracted listening to that conversation to really answer this boring to her question when there is WANDS TO SPEAK OF!
Any last words:

COMMENTS: I BELIEVE IN YOUUUU
SUGGESTIONS: YOU GOT DIS!!
PASSWORD: Mayyybe Gryffindor? If you played up her ambition and desire to see it through, Slytherin could work. But I'm not particular.

aoisdhaihdadh I almost used this same faceclaim. And I swear I flirted with the idea with making someone related to Ollivander before creating Aidan. /run
