appearance Hyunkyung boasts an unremarkable height and figure. She's thin as idols are apt to be, and her face is pretty enough she supposes; but again, she doesn't seemingly standout on her own. Seeing her looking at the ground or her hands is definitely not an uncommon thing indeed.
style Some would say she has a typical 'feminine' style: pretty blouses with flattering skits, and the right shoes to match. Hyunkyung likes to wear clothing that's both comfortable and flattering. She will take a good amount of time to ensure her outfits are practical enough for her to run and be active in, but also will make her look pretty. Despite her simple, pragmatic nature, Hyunkyung does take good care of her appearance.
personality Pragmatic, Steady, Push Over, Timid, Earnest, Unassuming, Introspective, Ambitious, Dour

Never one to be demanding or ask for the world, Hyunkyung's one of those girls who could easily fall into the background if allowed; and would happily occupy herself without bothering others. You don't need to give Hyunkyung a task: she will make the best use of her time on her own. Anyone around Hyunkyung knows they can rely on her to see a task to it's natural end, and she will do her best at that task. She doesn't have much time for fluff in her life. Her spaces are always clean and neatly organized. While others around her are flustered and bothered by events, Hyunkyung calmly takes in the situation and counts to ten before acting accordingly. She can be relied upon to make a good judgement; and will always strive to do so. She works hard at her art, and is happy to help others if they are trying to do the same. Hyunkyung works as if this were her only chance to do so. You can’t accuse her of being one to slack or let others down when it counts. With her, you’d have an earnest friend ready to roll up her sleeves and help you when things get rough; and you won’t hear her complain or lecture you on it. There’s no need to make things complicated.

Conflict bothers Hyunkyung. She has never been the most forceful with her opinions; and can easily be swayed to a different decision by her peers. Along with this, she is ever quiet around most people, and even when she does have a strong opinion it's hard for her to voice it. She is far from intimidating, and others find her an easy victim at times, though she usually takes it in stride or with a resigned sigh. Even her friends note how quiet and reserved she is even when others are excited and having a good time. It’s not that she is happy; she’s just not as outward with it.

Despite her best intentions, Hyunkyung very much lives in her mind. She has a great sense of her abilities at most times, and is able to be critical enough to accept feedback without much argument. Afterall, if others are saying it, there must be some truth, yes? But there are times when Hyunkyung lives far too much in her head. Honestly, her internal monologues can be downright gloomy and pessimistic. If her thoughts do manage to get out, she can come off as a quiet, gloomy girl. While this isn't too far from the truth, Hyunkyung would rather others not think this way of her. Better to shut your mouth and take it then, right? Behind all the seemingly simple and timid girl exterior however is a girl who wants to succeed: not just succeed, impress and gain recognition.

Despite herself, Hyunkyung thrives and loves being the center of attention. And when you get her on stage, Hyunkyung seems to lose those reservations that made her into an easy victim in the past. She trains hard so she can succeed. She doesn't fight back too much because it will pave the way so she can succeed. So what if missing that meal means she goes hungry for the day? If it means more practice or a smaller waist, that recognition and success is worth it. But with this comes a darkness to Hyunkyung. Her desire to succeed sometimes forces her to be singleminded. Nevermind if her composition and abilities are good; if they are not good enough to get her immediate recognition, then that ambition can lead Hyunkyung into a dark descent in her mind. Rapidly she will compare herself against others, try to think how she can get better, what is she doing wrong, etc. She can usually get herself out of this spiral, but when she can't, it often takes someone to talk her out of it. Her earnest, hard working nature, coupled with her gloom and timidity, and spiced with her own criticalness, often means her more ambitious side can be just as much a curse as a boon.

If Hyunkyung doesn't let her gloominess and timidity get the better of her: she's a responsible, suprisingly normal girl who just wants to shine on her own terms. The hard part is getting there.

background Do you know Park Samsook? It's okay if you don't. Back in the day, Park Samsook was a fairly popular trot singer in Korea. But she chose, close to the height of her career, to retire and start a family. She used to say she wanted to retire not only to have her family, but on her own terms while her star was still bright. (When in actuallity: she got pregnant and needed to save face, marry the man, and realized she didn't have the luxury of going back to singing).
But this isn't about her. This is about her youngest granddaughter. Hyunkyung is the youngest of four sisters. The Noh family, despite their rather mildly famous grandmother, aren't musically inclined. The parents work at a lawfirm as secretaries, her oldest sister is a stay at home mom, and her other two are studying to be teachers. They all actually do very well in their work however. The only one to show promise of something else was Hyunkyung. While all the siblings took piano and violin, Hyunkyung took to it more naturally, and always had something of an ear for music. It was Samsook who noted that she also seemed capable of carrying a decent note even as a small child. Intrigued, Samsook paid to have Hyunkyung take vocal lessons.
By the time Hyunkyung was 12, Samsook instilled in her the idea of being a singer. What better way to show the world how amazing her granddaughter could be? She took Hyunkyung to auditions, lively telling her about how Hyunkyung would make grandmother so proud by being the shining star she once was. No pressure.
To her credit, Hyunkyung did finally get accepted into JYP when she was thirteen.
Now, if only Hyunkyung could get her head into the game of this idol business. She wants to make her grandmother proud and live the dream she lost. She has to do it somehow.
While she is probably a exemplar trainee, and her vocal and musicality is on point for her young age, Hyunkyung just always seemed to lack that certain something. Be it charisma or stage presence, Hyunkyung just never stood out amongst her peers. If there wasn't someone more skilled, there was someone prettier. If there wasn't someone prettier, there was someone with more charisma. And if all of those are gone? At that point, there's no one left to see her anyways. This especially rang true when Sixteen airs. Sure, there was some talk of having Hyunkyung participate, but they deemed her not ready. In fact, she was pulled aside and firmly told that she might want to consider other options: she just didn't seem to be idol material.

Samsook was not having that. Her grandmother still had ties in the entertainment industry, and made a good friend with a former JYP vocal trainer years ago. That friend introduced her to Songseon. Hearing about 3D and Hyunkyung's impending withdrawal from JYP and being an idol trainee, she asked Songseon and the trainer to come see and possibly scout Hyunkyung.

Singing So Chan Hwee's Tears, and almost just making that high note, they saw potential in her (and maybe Songseon felt some sympathy for the shrinking violet of a girl). She then joins 3D as one of the first trainees in 2015
trivia .
- Been taking vocal lessons since she was eight (with her grandmother coaching her outside of that). Playing violin since she was six. Playing piano since she was five.

- Her variety sense is mild, and she's not the most entertaining...unless you're teasing her about being a bit of a blackhole when it comes to remembering choreography on the fly. She's not ill humored or boring...just not as exciting as some of the other girls.

- Her sense of humor, when allowed to show itself, can be very dry.

- She does terribly with cuter, sweeter concepts since it feels more contrived for her, and she often has to make her voice go all the higher or otherwise temper it to match it well. She does better where she can show charisma (what little she has) via her voice rather than by doing aegyo or other cute/sweetheart type things.

- Cannot do aegyo. At all.

- She's one of the last to wake up in the mornings; as such, her morning routine of skincase and such is very fast. She's extremely proficient at it by now.

- Sleeps with a stuffed pink cat as big as her head.

- Likes: plushies, pretty stationary, sweet potatos, cats.

- Dislikes: tomatoes, curry, being late, roller coasters and other thrill rides.

- Fun fact: actually likes spiders. Would actually have a pet tarantula if they would let her.
stage name Nohee + There was a lot of discussion about just keeping Hyunkyung's name as is since it was not something too common, and it had a little bit of power behind it. But with Wonder's image, Songseon thought something a little softer, maybe even sweeter, would resonate better while at the same time not being too cutesy that it would seem out of place for a more mature or ethereal concept as the girls aged. So her surname plus "ee" was decided on.

Get Hyunkyung on the stage and belting out those notes, and you've got yourself someone who seems confident in her ability to sing. Dancewise she's not the worst, but you need to guide her through the steps first and be patient. Her skills lie in musicality, not movement so much.
trainee years 5 (3 w/ JYP; 2 w/3D)
trainee life While Hyunkyung thriived with the training and instruction, she always seemed to lack something. She was a good trainee, always paying attention and being nothing but attentive. Her life circled around being a trainee while with JYP and 3D, her social and school life almost coming secondary much to the dismay of her parents and siblings. While they support her, they also don't want their youngest putting all her eggs into the idol basket at such a young age.

Since the majority of her family lives in Naju still even if her grandmother is in Seoul, Hyunkyung lived at the dorms and went to school locally. Hyunkyung did actually thrive more in the smaller company where her skill were more easily seen. However she continued to lack the certain something. She was recognized for her diligence and steadiness, as well as her vocal skills, but it was rare for her to actually stand out amongst others.

Until during one moment when during practice another trainee was receiving so much praise while Hyunkyung KNEW her vocals had exceeded the other's. And the trainer didn't seem to acknowledge this. In a rare moment of anger, Hyunkyung suddenly belted out the last few lyrics of the song they were practicing, stunning the group into silence. Songseon happened to be told about this: she needed a strong vocal for Wonder...and little Hyunkyung finally showed some teeth.
predebut NA - she never stood out enough to be even considered for cameos or similar.
articles "Member of 3D's first girlgroup related to a trot singer?" - In many ways, Hyunkyung is not only living her grandmother's dream, but she is also living in her shadow. It's not like her grandmother is terribly well known these days, but people like to milk it sometimes. She really wishes they wouldn't.
interview

"Hi, Hyunkyung, good to see you. I haven't heard much from you ever since preparations for debut started, how have you been?"
"Um, I've been okay," she answers simply. Truly she didn't have much more to elaborate on that. Since debut was announced, Hyunkyung was busy trying to keep her head up above water. Everything just feels like it's all so much; but it's also so exciting.

"i don't know how reassuring this is but, behind the scenes, we've been doing our best for you to debut well.
now, Hyunkyung, can i ask something a little more personal? i'd like to know why you think i chose you to debut in wonder."
"I...I would like to think it's because I am one of your best vocalists," and mentally Hyunkyung adds and that's probably the only reason. You just don't have a stronger vocal at the moment. She wasn't trying to sound smug at the moment, but Hyunkyung knows she is technically one of the best amongst the current trainees. It's just fact. Whether or not she actually would be a good candidate for debut...well, that's a different thing all together.

"i'm glad you're a member of 3d's first group. i believe in you and i expect a lot from you. how about you? what do you want to accomplish individually?"
"I want to be a singer who can stand on stage and command a powerful presense," she mutters more to herself than to her CEO. It's not like she hadn't considered what she actually wants in this whole idol business. She realizes she'd said that aloud, and is quick to bow her head in embarassment.

"i'm not making any promises, but i'll see how i can help you. another similar question, what would you like to achieve as a group?"
"Would it be weird if I said the same for Wonder?" Honestly, Hyunkyung would want all of her groupmates to stand next to her on stage and be recognized. Success for all of them would be amazing....and yet, there was a nagging voice in the back of her mind reminding her that would then mean she has to share opportunities with them. Translation: with the group, would anyone even pay attention to her? Hyunkyung shakes this thought away. It's a very selfish thing to consider...and yet that little voice likes to rear it's mean head a little too often these days.

"one last question, i made it a point to ask this to all of you, is there anything you would like to try in the future?"
"O-Oh...well...I..." How was Hyunkyung supposed to answer this? What could she ask for that wouldn't totally offend or offput Songseon? "May...maybe a solo or two on our albums? Appearances on singing programs? I'd also...like to try my hand at songwriting if...if I have the aptitude for it..." Her voice trails off, an she;s sure songseon might have missed that last bit.

"seems like i have to go now. forgive me for interrupting your break from practice but thank you for talking to me, Hyunkyung."
"A-Anytime!" Hyunkyung is on her feet, bowing to Songseon as she leaves. The moment their CEO is out of sight, she lets out the breath she didn't even know she'd been holding. The air immediately feels less oppressive...and she feels bad thinking of it that way when Songseon just means well.
relationships
Park Samsook - Her grandmother and former trot singer. She left her career upon getting pregnant and married the father under the guise that this is what she has always wanted. She actually is bitter about her lost chance, and in Hyunkyung she sees a chance to live vicariously and see that star shine again. While she loves and cares for Hyunkyung, she doesn't hide that she expects the best of her since she is her pride and joy. One harsh word from her is enough to make Hyunkyung fall into line.

Kim Songseon - Hyunkyung was one of the first trainees at 3D, so Songseon has a bit of a soft spot for her, especially with her more reserved and timid nature. Songseon tells Hyunkyung she has faith in her abilities and that she expects nothing but the best. This is said as a means of encouragement, but Hyunkyung find herself nervous and scared of failing Songseon; adding to her internal anxiety. She respects Songseon; but she's also a little scared less of her. In the end, Hyunkyung is still, technically, an employee. At the end of the day, even if she's in Songseon's good graces, if she doesn't deliver what's expected, then she's another

Lee Taesoo - A former JYP vocal trainer, and a friend of Samsook, he is the one who connected Samsook to  Songseon. He, along with Songseon, scouted Hyunkyung for 3D. He's a jovial man, and well liked amongst the trainers; but the trainees are a little scared of him when he's working. Taesoo does not suffer foolishness or lack of effort during training. Hyunkyung is probably one of his favorites, and his input is what probably helped her debut. He is the father of Jaeyoon.

Lee Jaeyoon - 99 liner - 19 - Student
Personality: Outgoing, Talkative, Empathetic, Guileless, Careless, Boisterous, Honest - Jaeyoon is a happy sort of guy. He's almost never seen without a smile on his face. As he puts it: he's not a complex guy. The sort of person who's entire day is made by getting ice cream for lunch. It doesn't take much to keep him happy.

Jaeyoon has never really had problems making friends or keeping them. He's generally an all around nice guy. Albeit he is rather boyish. He giggles at the most immature, innocuous things. But it's that same simplicity that makes him easy to please...most of the time. Jaeyoon is terribly easy to decieve and read.

Because Jaeyoon is also honest to a fault. He's never wanted to not be honest about anything; be it his feelings or what he's doing at that moment. Lying is something Jaeyoon hates the most. He is also horrible at trying to sneaky or clever when it comes to being deceptive. It's just not in his nature to hide. Being an open book just makes it that much harder for him. So sometimes he tends to throw his emotions and feelings at people, wanting them to understand the same way he does. Navigating adult relationships doesn't really work that way: he has a little maturing to do when it comes to handling adulting honestly.

How they met and love story: Jaeyoon is the son of one of the trainers at 3D, . He's not a trainee himself, but with his father being a widower, he often accompanies him to practices and either studies in the back, in an office, or might even join in when they have more informal traning. That's how he met Hyunkyung. He knows her secondhand from his father, but really met her while waiting for his dad to finish work for the evening.

Specifically they met when a big spider crawled over Jaeyoon's foot and he just about blew a fuse in panic. Hyunkyung had to save him from the harmless spider. At that moment, he asked her to marry him because clearly he's going to need her spider whispering in his life long term.

That was the start of a good friendship between the two. Jaeyoon was someone Hyunkyung had little issue talking to because of his personable nature. Jaeyoon admired her work ethic and drive, and appreciated that she laughs at his dumb antics. Sadly, it's obvious the pair are sweet on each other; but Hyunkyung has to focus on debut. Jaeyoon tries to get time at the company as often as he can to interact with her. Upon debut, he convinces her to stay in touch via KKT, and they do still see each other at the building from time to time.

But being an idol leaves little time for anything else. With her singlemindedness, Hyunkyung purposefully keeps a distance even if she knows it's hurtful to do so to Jaeyoon. She can;t afford a scandal (especially after her grandmother points it out to her and accuses her of sabotaging her own career with a boy).

Jaeyoon just doesn't understand. It's not like he would go and tell the world if she agreed they would be dating. Part of him thinks maybe she doesn't actually like him; or maybe because she's an idol now, she has to keep her options open? He will need to work on his maturity and understanding if he hopes to make anything come of this. As for Hyunkyung? As long as she can be discreet and makes the company aware, what's the harm? Oh, but for Hyunkyung the chance this could wreck her career is one chance too many...unless she decides a chance is worth the risk of being happy. She really is a silly girl.
comments This wa not suppose to be this long. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. ;; BUT I think I finally finished her! I added the trainer who scouted her, but feel free to remove him and add Jaeyoon as a son of someone else! Or remove him all together if you don't want to deal with a love interest. >>; But I kept it a little open-ended so you could use it or not at your discretion!
scene reqs
- The girls go on a show where they have to interact with animals, or they play the box game where they stick their hands in and try to guess what they're touching.
- Emotional scenes where the harsh reality of idoldom hits the girls. Maybe some the same, maybe some more so than others. Maybe this either divides them or maybe brings them together?
