Started with her parents, who are also funny people, as they all call each other Dong-insert the first syllable of their given name. Even her mom even though her surname isn't Dong.
▪ Poor Man's Kim Sohye - self-inflicted. Often describes herself as what Kim Sohye would look like if bitten by an ugly bug. It's meant as a compliment to Kim Sohye but just sounds like she's being dumb. Which she is. Always.

A bundle of limbs and smiles is what Bongcha is. There is nothing dainty or delicate about her when she is running around like a clumsy madwoman. She's not overweight by any means, but she's also not as slender as some of the other trainees. (aside from those details, she resembles ber fc closely).

An ecclentic, mismatched, asymetrical sort of style is her personal preference. Bongcha isn't afraid to match any of the most clashing patterns, materials, or colors together. The point is that she has to like it and feel good wearing it.And she absolutely loves changing her hair color. She really wants to go blonde, but it up for any thing as long as she doesn't entirely burn out her scalp...too often. She'll let it happen once if it means having the perfect shade of blonde.

There seems to be no end to the energy levels she has. No matter the time of day, the food consumed, the alchohol allegedly imbibed, the practices toiled over, none shall impact the cheerful and bright, impossibly and probably a bit stupidly, smile of Bongcha. Nothing is ever subdued with Bongcha. You'll know what's going on in her head at any moment because she will tell you.  Bongcha is open like a book, and loudly expressive. Nothing can seem to dampen her mood.

When Bongcha is all in, she is all in. She has been noted as being the type to throw herself in headfirst into her interests...sometimes without thinking of the rammifications or costs. Is it her foolishness? Partially yes. She is also just that naive and earnest in her belief that she can accomplish things if she sets her mind to it. Bongcha tends to put her everything into what she does. There's an earnestness in how she strives to do her best; and coupled with her seemingly boundless energy, she is really good at having others believe she can. That or she appears rather stupid and foolish. Tis the constant state of being for this girl Bongcha.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if her cheerfulness stems from endless optimism or from foolish naivety. And she is foolish. There is no doubt about it. Bongcha will believe just about anything you tell her as if it's the gospel. There's no possible reason for someone to actually lie to her...right? Right! Bongcha has a currently unshakeable faith in humanity as a whole. Everyone gets the benefit of the doubt with her regardless of first impressions or hearsay.  This naivety coupled with her tendency to jump before she looks makes her increadibly easy to decieve. By the time Bongcha actually realizes anything is amiss, its usually too late and the damage is done. However, it does make Bongcha one of the easiest people to get along with as she goes into interactions openminded and eager to cooperate with others.

Reality is going to be a hard dose of medicine when it finally hits Bongcha. Foolish enough to assume people bear no ill will, and when they do say hurtful things, her trusting and naivety, along with her trying to be kind to others, makes her try and brush it off. But Bongcha hears everything people say about her. She internalizes a lot of things. If people are questioning her ability to accomplish something, surely there's a reason, right? It's one of the reasons she never had quite enough drive to even dream of this idol thing up until recently. She takes to heart the things people say, but is too amiable to actually bring up how it affects her. Instead, she smiles her big, dumb smile and claims she'll do better. But what happens when she can't do better? What if everything people tell her...is actually right? Maybe she really can't do it...and this terrifies her. Deep down, Bongcha wants others to see her as a success. Just because she's stupidly happy doesn't mean she is destined to be the fool forever. Or so she hopes, and wants to be validated.

A ticking time bomb of potential hurt feelings ready to bubble up and burst when the moment is most inconvenient.

Growing up in Ilsan to two very normal parents and one older brother, Bongcha's life is nothing extraordinary. Her parents are well off enough that any thoughts of schooling and how to pay for the incidentals was never an issue. She ran around almost inseparably with two friends, Saeyool and Sunyoung, in a tight knit community, and grew up as any other happy kid would. 

She developed an interest in the idol world when she and her friends discovered Miryo. Or rather, when her friend Saeyool did. Don't get her wrong: Bongcha loves Miryo and all those rappers and performers on stage. But she never really dreamed of emulating them. And everyone around her seemed to agree that Bongcha could never be idol material, right? Instead, she thought Saeyool would be the better candidate, and never spared any chance to encourage it. 

Then just before the end of middle school, her family moves to Gumi. It's in Gumi that Bongcha continues to pursue a hobby of kpop group covers with some new school friends. She even becomes the "rapper" in their covers because she actually had an interest and had fun while imitating them. It was great. And on a whim, they decided to auditionfor Starship since someone or another in the group, Bongcha can't recall, decided they loved Sistar and had an obsession with Monsta X. That was 8 months ago. Her parents and friends questioned her during the process. Why is she suddenly showing an interest now? She's good amongst her friends, but what makes her think she can actually do the idol thing? Is she ready to commit to something like being a trainee? Is she even skilled enough to try? And more importantly, does she really think she can do it? Everyone around her just kept telling her she shouldn't, and couldn't, do it...

Bongcha has been a trainee for about 7 months now.

▪ Always hungry. Hungry after eating. Thinking about food even as she eats her current food. Just food. Dieting while being a trainee has been terrible for her.
▪ Has a massive girl crush on WJSN Exy. She will fangirl so hard over her should they ever meet. Also has a crush on Monsta X Hyungwon because who doesn't like the uniquely pretty face?
▪ She's actually quite creative, and has penned her own lyrics and poems previously. If she wasn't going to pursue music, she'd look into creative writing or something similar for university.
▪ Quite athletic and very flexible.
▪ She loves stand alone female rappers, but also has a soft spot for talented rappers in groups like Yezi and LE. Cider and Crazy Dog were her jams for a long time.
▪ Firmly believes in ghosts and supernatural, and scares herself way too easily.
▪ Potato. Yes. All things potato are love and life.
▪ Knows quite a few Monsta X and WJSN dances, along with Touch Ma Body from Sistar. Is she actually good at them? Well...she's very eager and energetic at least.
▪ It is never, "This food is good" for Bongcha. It is, "OMG. THIS IS SINGLEY THE TASTIEST MOST DELICIOUS DELIGHT MY TASTEBUDS HAVE HAD THE HONOR OF BEING GRACED BY!" She's a bit over dramatic in how she describes things.

▪ YOON SAEYOOL / 19 / FORMER IDOL and TRAINEE / CHILDHOOD FRIEND and COMPETITION  "YOONSAEYOOIE MY LOVE!!!!"
One of her best friends growing up in Ilsan, Saeyool was always the more ambitious and arguably talented between them; but she was her partner in crime and Bongcha used to tell her all the time,  "My Yoonsaeyooie is real A+ idol material!" They lost touch once Bongcha went to Gumi, but she voted religiously for Saeyool durinng Produce and was very sad to hear about Pristin's disbandment. They'd lost touch by then, so she had no idea of her participation in the show. Bongcha hopes she can keep up at the very least.

Has Bongcha made her love of Ryuahn's music known? No? That's because she is too stunned to reveal this at first. To her, Ryuahn is a legend of glorious talent. Bongcha can only hope to one day sing as well as she can. Bongcha would love to actually befriend Ryuahn, but it's rather difficult to get close to the other Starship girl. Not that a little lone wolf personality will stop Bongcha from trying for very long. Her favorite song of hers is "Is Who".

Theri friendship seems so unlikely on surface level. But what these two have is something that just makes them stand out, but not always in the best way. There's something of a kindred spirit between the two, an they understand each other and accept their different personalities. Unlike some people, Jiahui actually seems to think Bongcha as something with potential and tries to have a care about her. Bongcha is so grateful for this and can't ever express the warm fuzzies this gives her.

After somehow impressing at the auditions, Bongcha is taken as a trainee. It's something no one considered for her. She was always deemed too silly, dumb, not visual enough, or something else to possibly make a good idol; but when Startship offered her a chance at being a trainee, it's like something clicked with her. She felt enabled for once; and damn if she didn't run with it.

With an effervescent personality and eagerness to learn, Bongcha didn't really have issues with integrating with the other trainees. Fortunately her high energy allowed her to balance school work, since she moved to Seoul with family to be a trainee, and training, though it was difficult. Especially dieting. She hates the dieting. And despite her parents and friends misgivings about her choice in this life, there must be something she's doing right since with just being a trainee less than a year and she's being sent to this survival show. She is definitely not the most talented trainee, and she knows it despite acting as if she doesn't. But surely Starship has faith in her if she's being sent here over and with more seasoned/talented trainees...right? Sure, some of the more seasoned trainees are a little resentful at this newbie going to a potentially career making show; but do not doubt her sincerity and her desire to succeed. As meager as her skills might be, Bongcha has worked hard for them, and only hopes to get better and better.

Little does Bongcha realize that she's there to be something of a sacrificial goat. If she succeeds? Perfect. Starship has a fresh from the bottom to the top story to promote. And if she doesn't? Well, she isn't a huge loss, is she?

A reasonably decent rapper compared to the average person, but she is truly an idol rapper. She only has her pratical experience and the times she practiced herself to back her up. The same for dance. She can dance reasonably well, but it's not completely polished and it's more from hobbyist talent than well trained studio. She makes up for lack of polish with enthusiasm and lack of stage nerves during performances and truly enjoying what she's doing. While she may not be the best: she is genuine. And this serves her well in variety despite her inexperience.

OTHER TALENTS Is being willing to make a fool of yourself without shame a skill? Hopefully. Because she is. A fool I mean. Bongcha can write quite well, but not certain how much she'll be able to showcase that in the show.

CONCEPTS 
▪ cute - "YES." Cute is fun. Cute is adorable. Cute is the things sugar marshmellow fluff girlgroup pop is made of. Who doesn't like a sweet girl concept? Have you seen Gfriend? Those dances and their footwork are amazing, and they retain a sweet image. What's not to love? Bongcha is more than happy to play up a cute image.
▪ y - "..YES?" So Bongchan thinks she can do y. And she really is willing to try. Now, whether she can actually be y is another matter altogether. How does a clueless oddball pull off y when she hasn't had to be y before? Lord only knows.
▪ girl crush - "HECK YES." Rather than y, Bongcha would probably do better with girl crush. It lets her try and pull off her energy into fierceness but doesn't put her in an awkward place like y would. Plus to Bongcha, girl crushes are just the best and something she loves.
▪ other - "OMFG YES-wait what else is there?" Bongcha can be versatile. The issue is making sure she understands what this means. Her oddballness and cluelessness would mean she could adapt to stranger concepts more readily, but it will take a bit more instruction before she understands it.
