So, Hurricane Harvey in Texas

For those who don't know, I'm Canadian (and Canada will always be my home) but I am currently living in Houston. I've lived in Houston, Texas for the past 10 years and I pretty much know the place like the back of my hand. And because I've lived there for a while, I know how hurricane season can be in the south and flooding is quite common. However, this hurricane was by far the worst I've seen since Katrina. A few years ago, Hurricane Ike wasn't as bad so my family remained in Houston because we lived in a good elevated area. We didn't have to evacuate like we did when Hurricane Katrina came when I was young. But for Harvey, it was devastating.

I'm fine. My family is fine. Yes, I have internet access, that's how I'm posting this. At this moment, it is raining so I hope the lights don't shut off. But many aren't as fortunate like I am. Although I don't live in South Houston or downtown where it is mostly below sea level, many of my friends lost their neighborhoods in north Houston or in neighboring towns north of Houston. Many aren't able to go back after evacuating to Dallas or other cities. Schools are flooded, malls and hospitals are hard to reach. Even stores and restaurants are inaccessible so families are waiting the next day to go.

My point is, as much as I have the time to post, I'm not sure if I bring myself to do so. Maybe I'll change my mind and post for those who want me to. Especially since my campus is closed until the next week due to heavy flooding but please understand if I don't. There's a lot going on in Texas and I want to make sure that anyone I know is not in danger or isolated due to the weather.

BUT I am happy for my new subscribers! Thank you for subscribing to me, I am thankful! I'm sorry you had to come in this state, but I promise for a better future here.

Thank you for reading this as well! You guys stay safe if you were also affected by any sort of disaster.
