minwoo has heard more than once that he's in his own little world, and he can't deny it. he seems to always have his head in the clouds and misses out on things that happen around him. however, what he lacks in awareness of his environment, he makes up with his ability to pick up on other people's emotions. many people at school tend to view him as their mysterious and closed off upperclassman, and are surprised by his friendly disposition when they first talk to him. minwoo, by nature, has always been pretty selfless. he'll pay for people's meals or help them finish their work without complaint, always offering a gentle smile as he does so. he's got a serious weakness for anything cute and can easily be manipulated with one cute smile sent his way. he's the one to go to when you want someone to listen to you or accompany you on a questionable adventure.

even before he worked at the cafe, minwoo didn't really see avan's constant presence as anything out of the ordinary. he never questioned why the mysterious man was always at the cafe, and some of his coworkers wondered if he even realized avan was there pretty much everyday. they got their answer when avan wasn't in his usual spot when minwoo walked in for his shift, and the first thing he asked was, "where's avan?" the two don't converse much when they're in the cafe but minwoo will often offer small drawings of the other man with jasper by his side as attempts at friendship.

before minwoo started working at the cafe, he would often pet jasper as he whispered comments about how cute the pastry boy is; he'd never forget to mention how jasper's the cutest employee though. he talks to the cat throughout his shifts, greeting him when he walks into the cafe and always bidding him a goodnight once he leaves. when minwoo takes his break during his shifts, he often pets and talks to jasper to catch up. minwoo has also used the cat as a model reference for some of his school assignments, doodles of jasper filling up his sketch book. jasper seems to like the sleepy boy and can usually be seen steering minwoo towards his crush so he can finally confess.

minwoo knew he was doomed the instant he caught a glimpse of hyunwoo's face the first time he visited the cafe. it was the butterflies in his stomach that prompted him to go back to the cafe multiple times a week, just to catch a glimpse of the pastry boy. minwoo jumped at the chance to work with hyunwoo, not wanting to miss out on the opportunity to get closer to his crush. with hyunwoo, he's a little more alert, eyes trained on the other boy's face as he talks. his soft smiles make more of an appearance when hyunwoo's around, gaze painted with a copious amount of affection. minwoo's resolve is even weaker when it comes to his crush, willingly trying whatever pastry hyunwoo pushes toward him despite being very lactose intolerant. according to all their coworkers, minwoo's crush is obvious but hyunwoo's never mentioned it so he thinks his secret is safe for now.

when the two first met,gwangseok, the other boy thought that he did all the "normal high school boy" stuff that all of their other classmates did. he was proved wrong when they went to the arcade together and minwoo asked how to play the games since he'd never been. their day wasn't a total bust though because it ends with burgers on minwoo's dime and a beautiful friendship. minwoo enjoys gwangseok's company and attempts to teach him better penmanship even though his is definitely not the best (he's a painter, after all).  he often reminds the other boy to sleep and get his rest since he knows how much gwangseok studies.

they were acquaintances before they both started working at the cafe, having a few classes together here and there. it wasn't until after they started working together that the two of them became friends and established Queer Kid Solidarity once minwoo's crush on hyunwoo became apparent (and let's be real, it's obvious as ). minwoo often asks questions about being genderqueer since he didn't know much about it before meeting sawyer, and he enjoys listening to their explanations since it's a big part of sawyer's life. they talk more at school now too, and minwoo is happy that they've become better friends.

gayoung is essentially minwoo's adopted little sister, spoiling her just as much as he spoils minyoung. she doesn't want to mop up the floor during her shift? minwoo's already walking out of the back with the mop in hand, taking care of it for her as she rambles on about how cute avan is. he listens and indulges her with soft smiles, making his own discreet comments about how he thinks hyunwoo is cute too (he's painfully obvious about his crush and yet he still thinks no one catches on). she's got him wrapped around her little finger, almost as tightly as minyoung has him around hers.

his one and only little sister who he spoils to death. he'd do just about anything for her and she knows it, using her cuteness to her advantage as she wraps him around her finger. they mirror each other in many ways. she'd do anything for him as he would for her and she might even be more protective of him than he is of her. it was minyoung that took minwoo to delia's cafe for the first time and it was him who kept them going back just so he could catch another glimpse of the pastry boy. minwoo adores his little sister and would do anything to continue seeing her smile.

"hello, i'm kim minwoo, it's nice to meet you," minwoo replies with a soft smile, cheeks tinged the slightest shade of pink. 
 
nice to meet you TOO! why do you want this job?
minwoo clears his throat softly as a bashful expression washes over his face, "ah, well... i'm here very often since my sister  enjoys this cafe, so when i saw the now hiring sign, i thought, 'why not work here?'" he chuckles a bit awkwardly before offering another gentle smile which grows wider once hyunwoo returns it with one of his own.
 
how is your work ethic?
"i'd like to think that i'm a hard worker, especially when it comes to things i really like," minwoo responds, fiddling with the hem of his sweater a bit nervously. "i've heard from project partners that i'm pretty easy to work with, even if i am a bit forgetful at times..." he trails off before coming back to attention, "i mean, i don't forget everything. i just need to be reminded of certain things from time to time, that's all... in all honesty, i usually end up doing part of my coworkers' or partners' work since they ask and i don't mind."
 
and why should we hire you?
minwoo pauses, obviously contemplating his answer with a slightly dazed expression. "i think you should hire me because i'll work hard at whatever job i'm assigned and i'm here so often that i practically have the entire menu memorized already anyway."

hyunwoo can't help but laugh, making the minwoo's cheeks go even pinker.

"hmm, floaty?" minwoo replies, head tilted slightly and he can see hyunwoo crinkle his eyebrows in confusion. "a classmate once had to create an interpretive painting of me for an assignment, and he painted fluffy clouds on a hazy background since he thought i was soft and dreamy like clouds are," he smiles bashfully. "he also said that i kind of just drift along through my day while nothing really phases me, and all my classmates seemed to agree with his description so i think it's a fairly accurate description of myself."

he sees hyunwoo draw a little cloud next to the notes for his answer, and he can't help but grin.

"yes!" minwoo replies with a twinkle in his eyes. "i really like when jasper comes to sit at my table whenever i visit, he's especially cute."

he nods affirmatively with a slightly troubled look on his face. "i can never figure out how magicians always know what card you picked." hyunwoo's string of laughter makes him wonder what was so funny about what he said.

+ in hyunwoo's case it all started with a fleeting glimpse and an impression that would have him coming back for more. the smile on hyunwoo's face enamoured him and the fluttery feeling in his stomach wasn't due to the dairy in the pastry he was eating, but because butterflies had found a new home. when minwoo saw the now hiring sign in the window of the cafe one day, he instantly asked for an application, not thinking twice about it. when he got the job he was ecstaticand a bit nervous since this would be the closest he's ever been to hyunwoo. as they spent more time together, they began to get closer and the other boy always seemed to run through his thoughts at some point in the day (he made the mistake of thinking about hyunwoo during class once and ended up with a large portrait of the boy; he had to hide his sketchbook from sawyer for the rest of the day). he thought he was being discreet about his feelings but all of their coworkers would about his crush at some point in time, making minwoo confused because how did they know that? hyunwoo never gave any indication that he knew which made minwoo calm down a bit, content with their friendship until he thought it was the right time to confess. 

+ in someone else's case when minwoo started working at the cafe, he thought that this was his chance to sweep hyunwoo off his feet. but when one of his coworkers confided in him about having a crush on the pastry boy, minwoo encouraged them to take a chance and confess. he watched with a soft, kind of sad, smile as they created their own love story. even when it comes to love, he still puts his friends and their happiness above his own. while he was sad at first, seeing the two of them so happy made it worth it, and he instead focused on the friendships he had with all of his coworkers. as the time went by, he spent more and more time with one particular person and soon it was them he was accidentally drawing in class instead of hyunwoo. he confided in his other friends about his crush and with their encouragement, he decided he didn't want to let this chance slip through his fingers.
 
preferred ending minwoo finally works up the courage to confess with the help of jasper's guidance, and everything goes better than expected. their first date has him painting with hues of pink and soft blues for a week.
