APPEARANCE her light brown bordering dirty blonde hair is usually left down to frame her face, making her cheeks seem a little less round. her style is comfortable and effortlessly style, most of her clothes being bought in the sale sections of uniqlo or sent from her mom in japan. her wardrobe consists of a simple shirts in a variety of colors, paired with jeans or denim shorts and converse. like many ucla students, she often reps her school by wearing apparel she bought from the bruin store using her discount. she'll usually be seen in her favorite yellow ucla shirt or in her ucla dad quarter zip sweatshirt that she's very proud of.

PERSONALITY TRAITS ambitious, fastidious, quick-witted
SUMMARY incredibly ambitious and never failing to dream big, you'd expect mitsuko to be setting herself up for failure if it wasn't for the extensive planning behind all of her goals. she approaches every situation realistically and is always prepared for the worst; even her back-up plans have back-ups. from the conference room to the student lounge, mitsuko is known for her quick-wit. seems to move faster than her brain as she says the first thing that comes to mind without thinking it over first. she's the cause of both laughter and looks of surprise during serious JACL meetings when she starts off her talking points with a witty comment before delivering the rest in a no- manner. she's a film student who always has a very specific vision in mind, a double-edged sword since she tends to fixate on minor details but always attains the results she wants, even though it's usually at the expense of sleep. with a lot of things on her plate, she seems mildly tired and busy 24/7, but she swears she has everything under control -- and the truth is, she does.

like most film students, a large portion of mitsuko's free time is dedicated to editing videos or writing papers on her laptop. if she's not holed up in her apartment in k-town with her eyes glued to her screen, she can usually be seen in kerckhoff coffee house on campus or coffee tomo in sawtelle. she also has a part-time job at the bruin store in the stock room, and usually only works two shifts a week due to the amount of units she's taking. she also volunteers at the japanese american national museum in little tokyo, offering to film their special events. when she's not doing schoolwork or working, mitsuko will usually be binge watching anime or dramas with her roommate or hanging out with her friends.
TRIVIA
SMC 18 year old mitsuko found herself in santa monica college right after graduating high school, the number one community college in the LA area. with no money and just about no clue as to what she wanted to do in life, community college seemed like her best option. while she would have been out in two years, she got stuck in that hell hole due to counselors telling her the wrong things which resulted in her taking classes she had no use for
日本語 like many nisei kids, mitsuko grew up speaking japanese at home and was taken to japanese school by their house in sawtelle every saturday growing up. since she doesn't live at home anymore, and her parent's moved back to japan to take care of their parents, she tries to speak it as much as she can so she doesn't lose it. she and her other japanese friends usually speak a mixture of english and japanese together
JACL when mitsuko was in high school, she joined the japanese american citizens league and became active in their los angeles chapter. she's attended every jacl national convention since the time she joined, as well as a number of the youth leadership summits. she's become a well known face at the conventions, for both her input in the meetings and documentation of the events
STUDYING mitsuko is very serious about her schoolwork and she dedicates a lot of time to studying and finishing her work. she plans it all out and sticks to her plan until she finishes everything she needs, whether it be in the library or at a cafe. sometimes when the group gets together at seth's house, just to chill, she'll bring her laptop with her if she's not done with her work
APARTMENT currently lives in a small apartment in k-town with her roommate, cameron kim (fc: kim heechul). it's two bedrooms, one bath, and just enough space for the both of them. the rent is considerably cheaper than it would be if they were living in santa monica or westwood, so they're planning on staying there, despite the fact that the complex is pretty old
LIL SUZUKI mitsuko got lucky when her rich aunt decided to buy a new car and gave her old one to her. the compact, icy blue suzuki splash was given to mitsuko during her third year at smc and she's ditched the bus ever since. she and her friends affectionately dub it her clown car or the lil suzuki, since it looks small but can fit more than meets the eye.
ATLAB one of the main reasons mitsuko decided to become a film major was because of that awful avatar the last airbender live action movie. she didn't even go watch it, purely based on the fact that the entire thing was whitewashed, but she made it her personal goal to remake it along with all the other whitewashed live action animes turned movies. she'll often mention the movie with disgust visible on her face and all her friends know not to mention it around her unless they want to hear her rant about it. she's decided that when she premiers her remake, she's going to personally invite m. night shyamalan to show him how the last airbender movie should've been
VLOG mitsuko always seems to have a camera in hand, filming her friends on almost every adventure they go on. she likes to document her life like this so she can remember each moment spent together, and she edits the clips together into a video for her instagram or youtube channel if it's longer than 1 minute. she uses a canon g7x mark ii and final cut pro to edit
PROMOTION REELS with her heavy canon eos 70d, equipped with a fancy lense and stabilizer, mitsuko is in charge of capturing the hallux crew at work. they use the videos she creates to show people samples of what they do, and she also gives them to the client so they have something to remember them by. she created their first reel with a montage of different projects they'd done and voiceovers done by both seth and sage
SETH while she's not as close with seth as she is sage, mitsuko thinks very highly of him. with his rather awkward personality and quiet nature, mitsuko finds herself smiling softer around him. she teases him a bit whenever he doesn't follow trends correctly before correcting him, laughter still tinging her voice. she admires just how hardworking and dedicated he is, striving to be the same. she's one of the many group members who will lounge around his place with sage, his loft in a much nicer condition than her apartment. one of the defining moments of their friendship was when she brought him back an entire fluffy cheesecake from japan, the look on his face was one she'll never forget

HEY THERE! GLAD TO HEAR THAT YOU'RE INTERESTED IN JOINING. mitsuko laughs softly, the corners of her lips pulled up into a smile. "hey, sage."
SO, WHAT HAVE YOU ALREADY HEARD ABOUT THIS PROJECT? she purses her lips, tilting her head ever so slightly. "just what you've told me about the group over the past couple years. i know you guys are a for-profit group now and you're getting a good amount of job offers." she smiles again. "you've done some really good work, sage."

HAVE YOU WORKED ON ANYTHING SIMILAR TO THIS BEFORE? "i've worked with a few different organizations before, but i handled more activist related work instead of odd-jobs," mitsuko replies, tone still casual.
HOW OFTEN WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO TAKE A JOB, WITH REGARDS TO YOUR SCHEDULE? she pauses for a moment, as she contemplates her schedule. "depending on the size of the job, i could take two, maybe three, a week," mitsuko says with only the slightest bit of uncertainty. "i only have work and classes twice a week, and i usually finish my work fairly fast, unless i have a huge project due. it should be fine."
WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF THE HALLUX CREW? "i think it's a really good way to help people that need it and do my part for the community," she answers instantly. "i'm not part of any clubs or organizations on campus yet, so it'd be a good opportunity to meet people too. plus, it'd give me more time to spend with you," mitsuko smiles as sage's laughter fills the room.
ARE THERE ANY JOBS THAT YOU'LL ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO TAKE? "hm, i guess anything involving bugs? i really hate bugs - oh! and cleaning up huge messes," mitsuko says, nodding to herself. "cleaning is fine but... there are certain levels of messiness that you need professional help to deal with, not some college kids who don't even like cleaning up after themselves."
IF THERE WAS A DISAGREEMENT WITHIN THE GROUP, WHAT WOULD YOU DO? WHAT IF YOU HAD TO PICK A SIDE? "i'd probably just tell them to get their together and talk it out," mitsuko shrugs. "since talking out your problems with someone else is always the best solution. i don't think i'd pick sides either, i'd probably just give my own solution to their problem instead."
