♔ She has a tattoo on her wrist of a soundwave that's voicemail from her parents saying 'I love you' and a small tattoo of a lotus flower in the small area behind her ear as a reminder that when all odds are against her, she'll be able to rise again and bloom.

♔ She loves street fashion. Leggings and shorts are her favorite things to wear because of how comfortable they are. Her closet usually consists of black, white, grey, and burgundy clothing. The only colorful articles of clothing she owns are her oversized graphic tees, windbreakers, or crewnecks. Every day she wears jerseys of any kind (basketball, hockey, football, etc), crop tops, flannels w/sports bras, or loose v-necks. On a day to day basis, she'll always be seen with a pair of Nikes, Adidas, or whatever is the latest popular shoe out on the market. Her go to accessories are her collection of snapbacks, dad hats, beanies, and bucket hats. Eunjae also tends to wear a lot of hoodies besides her windbreakers and crewnecks because it's perfect for the weather and comfortable. When she's out buying clothes, she also won't hesitate to buy from the guy section of the store if she sees something she likes or knows she can pull it off. Has a soft spot for getting to dress up once in a while due to the fact that she's always dressed to be comfortable and able to dance in 24/7. ♔ "Carpe Diem!" Everyday, Eunjae works with carpe diem as her mantra. She doesn't like waisting any time and tries her best to be productive whenever she can. If her situation begins to look tough, she reminds herself that even if she's facing hardships at that moment, tomorrow will be a new day. Her outlook in life is very positive and loves to look on the brighter side of things. It's her "can do" attitude that led her into getting a lotus flower as her tattoo. Because of the flower's meaning, she runs her life by always having an open-mind to things and tries to look at all sides of the equasion. 
♔ "Always shine. Shine as bright as the sun." Ever since she was young, she always had this bright personality to her that immediately drew people towards her. She had this aura that made her really easy to approach. Eunjae is very friendly with everyone and loves to make a lot of friends. Her favorite past time is to joke around with her friends and loves to tease them with endless remarks. She also loves to pull pranks once in a while whenever she's in the mood and you can always find her smiling.
♔ "Stay Hungry, Stay Humble" Another mantra that Eunjae goes by. With all her time in the dance community, whether it'd be in the USA or in Korea, she noticed that as more people began to be successful, the more they strayed away from her roots. She always likes to remind everyone around her to never forget their roots and to always be thankful of how successful and blessed they are at any moment. She loves to encourage others and also give sincere advice to those that always come to her for advice. Eunjae never loses her head if she wins at dance battles or competitions, she will always acknowledge her competitors and spread good vibes to those around her.
♔ "I won't stop until it's to my satisfaction." Eunjae tends to be a perfectionist whenever it comes to herself and the arts. Whenever she's running rehearsals, she makes sure that the routine is flawless, down to the littlest of details. If one person is off by even a little bit whether it'd be if a person's hand was off by an inch or even if they couldn't match the level of their team mates, then she will call them out. Everything needs to be flawless and up to her expectations and she will continue to revise it until she thinks it's good enough. All of her things need to be orderly and organized in order for her to function correctly as well. This kind of thinking often leads her to overthink everything and tends to get highly emotional. She'll either immediately close herself off to control herself or her temper will run short and she'll begin to snap at those around her without realizing it.
♔ "A loving, outgoing introvert." Since she's been a trainee, Eunjae has always been used to being by herself. Because of her passion and drive to debut as soon as she could, She tends to be very independent and doesn't like to lean on other people too much. She'll see herself as a burden and prefers to keep to herself. Eunjae forgets that she can lean on those that have trained along side her who have now become her members rather than being stuck in her own world. She'll always put the ones she cares about first and won't hesitate to drop what she's doing in order to help a friend out. Most of the time she's too selfless to look after herself and makes sure those around her are happy and forgets to do her own things she wishes to do. Eunjae will bottle things up until it gets too overwhelming for her and usually has a mental breakdown in her room. Also, even if she's easy to get along with, she'll also need time to herself to recharge after so much interactions. She loves getting along with others or meeting new people, but there are days where she prefers to be in the background and observe others or days to herself, not being disturbed and recharging from interacting with others so much. If she's too gassed out and still recharging, she'll tend to come off as rude for her impassive and quiet personality which people tend to take the wrong way. 
♔ "Well here's what I have to say..." Because of her natural social-like personality, she won't hesitate to put her input on things. She hates it when someone triest to beat around the bush with her. She'll be truthful and upfront with people if she needs to be whether it'd be she's talking to someone she's close with or someone she's just casually talking to. Sometimes, she doens't even know her limits or when to stop talking when she's hurt someone. Her replies tend to be taken the wrong way because she tends to be very sarcastic/witty at times. 

 

background / 

♔ Family Life / Chae Eunjae was born on October 31, 1994 into a family of three in Busan. When she was three, her parents made the decision to move to the US in hopes of having a better life for their daughter. Her father managed to open up a traditional Korean restaurant in the heart of LA, where Koreatown is located. At night, their restaurant would turn into a street food stall where they would offer the different types of street foods you would find along the streets back in Korea. While growing up, if she wasn't at school or doing any of her extra curricular activities, then Eunjae would be found helping out at the family restaurant (either in the kitchen or on the floor waiting on customers). Her parents are very loving and supportive with whatever dreams she wanted to chase. All they reminded her was that if she wanted it hard enough, all the hard work would come easy to her because of how much she loved it. 

♔ Become a Trainee / Eunjae had decided to take her chances in fulfilling her dream of becoming an idol in 2009 after news spread that SM was going to have international auditions and LA was on the list. Although she was known within the dance community as a whole, Eunjae was also known for her K-pop dance cover videos that she'd post on Youtube and performed at the local KMF Dance Competitions. So when her friends and family suggested that she should go for it just for the experience and hopes of getting in, Eunjae was all game. She auditioned by singing and dancing to BoA's newly released song Eat You Up and during the break down, Eunjae had showcased her own choreography. The judges were impressed by her skills and accepted her as a trainee. 

♔  Debuting / When news came to her that she was going to debut as a part of Chrysalis, Eunjae's mind went blank. She was in the middle of practicing by her herself when her dance instructor came in and asked her to meet him in the main training room. Eunjae realized that she was the last one to arrive where three other girls were standing in the middle of the room. She recognized them and gave them a small smile and wave as they waited for mroe to come. When the Lee Sooman came in she knew that something big was going to happen. It was either they were going to get cut or they were going to debut together. Once the words of being able to debut left his mouth, all she remembered was dropping to the ground and all the girls were shouting in happiness as she blanked out. All her emotions were jumbled up and all that was going through her mind that finally all her hard work, sleepless nights, tiring out her body, and sacrificing moving away from her family was all worth it. All that she hoped and prayed was that their group was to be successful, just like the rest of their labelmates. Debuting was all that she imagined and although it was tiring, she always gave 200% in all that she was doing. She never hesitates to reach out to fans on her social media and loves to do fan service because it was fun to do. Eunjae always tried her best to accept as many gifts given to her from the fans for the group as well as encourage them whenever it was testing time. 

♔  The Downfall / Her heart ached when news and the media showed that they weren't doing well on the market. She always had a heavy heart and feeling sorry towards her members whenever she was given a schedule during the hiatus due to being given a chance to debut as an actress when they were still active. Whenever she was at the dorms, Eunjae would try her best to encourage her members to stay strong and to be patient because they haven't disbanded yet. She always reminded them to use the hiatus to sharpen their artistic ability to show the company that they were ready to comeback. When it was announced that four more members were going to be added, Eunjae was iffy at first because of how much the four of them have already gone through, but if that was what it took for them to improve and be out on stage again, then she'd go along with it. It reminded her of her tattoo of the lotus flower. With all that was going one with Chrysalis, this new revamp might be just what the group needed to bloom again, but even more brighter than ever.

♔ Jang Minhee (fc: Lee Sungkyung) / 21 / Choreographer / First friend Eunjae met when she moved to Korea. She was the connection that one of her dance friends from the States hooked her up with to help her adjust over there. Eunjae's friend and Minhee were cousins and Minhee's older sister, Jang Girin, owned the dance studio called Soul Dance. If she wasn't busy training, then Eunjae would be found taking classes alongside Minhee. Minhee is her best friend and the one she goes to for advice.

stage name / CeeJay; Nickname given to her during her community days back in the States. She chose this as her stage name because she always wanted a piece of home and it served as a reminder to always stay humble and remember where she came from.

trainee years & life / 4 years 

♔ Trainee Years / When she first became a trainee, it was hard for Eunjae to adjust because she was so used to Western ways of living. People always took her the wrong way because she was still learning the way how most Koreans lived and acted,although her Korean was fluent. When people isolated her due to those factors, she was deeply homesick and missed her family so much who decided to stay back home. She'd try her best to show her parents how strong she was whenever they FaceTimed even if she had a rough time. Eunjae drowned herself in her training to take her mind off things and managed to make a couple close friends and when her faithful meeting with Amber happened, Amber was the one that taught her how to adjust to Korea's expectations and ways. Since then, training seemed easier and Eunjae decided not to let other affect her.  Her trainee years were an eye opener to her when she finally got see just how cut-throat it was to be one. It had woken up the competitive drive in her and she constantly pushed herself to become the best artist she could be. She worked hard day and night, never wanting to fall behind from the rest. She had entered with mainly dance as her strong point and had a lot to make up for her singing and rapping abilities. Since those two were her weaknesses, she had often gotten criticized the most for those two portions of training. She was known to take whatever critiques were given to her and improve by the next monthly evaluation. Eunjae would usually be one of the last ones to leave because even if she was really good at dancing, she would always practice everything by herself until she's satisfied with her personal recordings due to her perfectionist personality. On the other hand, she got along with trainees and always tried to liven up the room because it was her way to ease the tension in the common tense atmosphere. Most of the time, Eunjae would try her best to stay out of the drama that would sometimes spark between the other trainees from time to time. If she were to pick a side, Eunjae would always stay on neutral grounds and ignore the gossip to practice.

♔ Hiatus / Although she always felt sorry towards her members for always having more schedules during their hiatus, she was also slightly thankful for being given so many other opportunities. She promised herself and her members that she would work hard in order to help gain more fans and attention towards Chrysalis during her schedules. After Chrysalis appeared on Running Man when they were active and her witty charm seemed to catch a lot of attention as well as her charisma on stage, Eunjae was suddenly offered to be an MC for Inkigayo as well as getting casted in Reply 1994 as Jo Yoon Jin and in Cheer Up! (Sassy, Go Go) as Kwon SooAh. She also managed to land a couple of cover shoots for High Cut Magazine and 1st Look Magazine. Since she and Amber are close, Eunjae also got a lot of attention for her appearances on What the Pineapple and Ranting Monkey. She was also invited by Amber to be her guest performing Shake that Brass at KCON LA.
