YOON SOOAH
— There’s a sad, lone star in the dark sky once again —
( PERSONALITY )
sooah is very much an introvert, and she doesn't talk to others unless she's spoken too first. but this doesn't mean that she's cold or distant, even though that's how she appears to most people at first. once you show interest in talking with her, it can be seen that she's a nice, sweet girl who means well. she doesn't open up to others that easily, though when she starts to do so you know that she must trust that person an awful lot. first and foremost though she is an independent type of person, and she doesn't ask for help very often. spending most of her time by herself, reading books and acquiring knowledge for herself, she's quite smart for most people her age, and she's always fascinated by the things which she often reads about. she's always analysing, always thinking, and sometimes it can be a bit much for her if she overanalyses other people too much and how they may act around her. she has trouble expressing her emotions, and she tends to keep them to herself and let them bottle up until they either fizzle down into nothingness or until they explode. when the latter ends up happening she'll again keep to herself, deciding she shouldn't let herself be a burden or think that other people should be involved in problems that are hers alone and hers to fix.

born on the 23rd of january 2017 in jayang-dong, seoul, it was somewhat of a miracle for yoon sooah to be born. after her mother had to have a c-section for the birth of her elder brother, she gave birth the natural way for sooah, which caused complications for her mother shortly after leaving the hospital. before sooah could even reach half of her first year of life, her birthmother passed away due to health complications which developed after her daughter's birth. sooah's father remarried a younger woman when sooah turned about 8 years old, her brother being about 10. being a single father was an idea which was slowly becoming more accepted in south korean society, though it didn't stop the occasional nasty comments which came from some of the more immature children.
sooah definitely wasn't born into a family of riches, either. her father was worked at a business company, as their janitor. her birthmother, before she passed away, was an office worker at the same office building, which is where the two met in the first place. sooah's father remarried another woman, who was kind to him and his family for the most part, taking care of his children well. sooah's older brother, soohyuk, was born deaf, and the medical attention needed for both children during their earlier years of life put the family at a disadvantage compared to most. there weren't ever any interpersonal problems between the family, despite the occasional argument which was impossible to avoid. despite the situation the family were in at the time, they were content with what they had.
the fact that sooah attended an international school didn't make her school life anything spectacular, but it definitely didn't make it horrible either. she managed to make friends at school, most of which would come and go like the ocean waves as the years passed on. however most of the time she'd be sitting by herself, the trees being her friends while eating her lunch or reading her books while the other children played ball or gossiped about cute boys. a description which could be used for her could be an outsider, though she would've fallen into the "shy girl who likes to read" stereotype, so it was more just a matter of her inexperience with communicating with people. she didn't tend to speak at home a lot due to having to use sign language whenever she spoke to her brother, and she 'spoke' with him more than her parents on any given day.
when she was at home, she loved watching old k-dramas and movies from the 2010s, such as descendants of the sun and the 'reply' series. it wasn't necessarily for the plot (though she has a weak spot for "poor girl meets rich guy" plots, something she'd never admit), rather she enjoyed the songs and osts of said dramas. the voices in them were always so soulful, emotional, powerful. perhaps it was a reason why she enjoyed music classes and singing so much, it was always an odd sensation, being able to feel so many different emotions and understand so much through such a vast and beautiful art form. she enjoyed singing a lot, eventually having it become quite the talent of hers after many hours upon hours of practice. it was one of the few things which made her come out of her shell, and she received praise from her peers for her skills, even encouraging her to perform in a few school festivals which were hosted.
between a part-time job at a local convenience store and studying, she had heard many people suggest that she become an idol and audition. there were so many companies out there holding auditions, but of course there was one company which stood out in her mind; victory media. they were a big name, and she almost couldn't go a week at school without someone mentioning a song, artist or anything else about the company, especially the frequent comments about how much she looked like "that one member of iris! you know, the one with the amazing voice!" sooah knew how hard it would be for her to even have a chance of getting in, but she knew that she couldn't let that get to her. at every quarter audition for about 3 years, she took part in the company's auditions, taking all of the criticism on board and improving her skills with every quarter. in the second quarter of the auditions for 2034, she almost couldn't believe it when she got the call a fornight later, telling her that she was accepted into one of, if not the largest music label in south korea.

( faked story ) lee hyejin was born in jayang-dong, seoul, south korea as a single child. she went to the same primary and middle school with vixx members ken and hongbin, since they lived in the same neighbourhood when they were younger. she was raised by her birth parents for her whole life and attended seoul's school of performing arts in the department of practical music. she auditioned for victory media for 3 years until she was accepted in 2012 and had been training for about a year and a half until her debut.

during the first few months of iris' debut, the group were featured on a variety show along with a few members of other groups, one of which was vixx' hongbin. he was kind to her while the group were on the show, and they even got paired together for one of the challenges. she was thankful for hongbin's caringness towards her and the rest of the group, and they got each other's contact details and send each other messages when they can. most of their talks are about how they lived in the same neighbourhood while they were growing up, and they have made plans to visit some of their old favourite places in the future. speaking of the future, as much as she wants to tell her secret to hongbin she's unsure if she'll be able to, knowing how hongbin is like and the types of comments he says sometimes, she's not sure if he'd ever actually believe her.

much like hongbin, sooah also met ken on a variety show while iris were still rookies. thanks to his playful personality he was often one to make jokes on the show. they both got along quite well, even singing a short duet together in order to showcase iris' main vocalist's talent which definitely impressed the hosts and other guests. after the show they kept in touch, and ken even sent her some tips to improve on her singing. she also plans to take a visit to jayang-dong with him and hongbin so that they can see their favourite places that they went to when they were younger. she's briefly talked about the concept of time travel with him without context, and he too finds it an interesting topic, though he wonders why she brings it up. she simply states that she is curious about a lot of things, though she wants to open up and tell him her secret without judgement, but she's unsure if ken would take her seriously.
during the first few months of iris' debut, the group were featured on a variety show along with a few members of other groups, one of which was vixx' hongbin. he was kind to her while the group were on the show, and they even got paired together for one of the challenges. she was thankful for hongbin's caringness towards her and the rest of the group, and they got each other's contact details and send each other messages when they can. most of their talks are about how they lived in the same neighbourhood while they were growing up, and they have made plans to visit some of their old favourite places in the future. speaking of the future, as much as she wants to tell her secret to hongbin she's unsure if she'll be able to, knowing how hongbin is like and the types of comments he says sometimes, she's not sure if he'd ever actually believe her.

much like hongbin, sooah also met ken on a variety show while iris were still rookies. thanks to his playful personality he was often one to make jokes on the show. they both got along quite well, even singing a short duet together in order to showcase iris' main vocalist's talent which definitely impressed the hosts and other guests. after the show they kept in touch, and ken even sent her some tips to improve on her singing. she also plans to take a visit to jayang-dong with him and hongbin so that they can see their favourite places that they went to when they were younger. she's briefly talked about the concept of time travel with him without context, and he too finds it an interesting topic, though he wonders why she brings it up. she simply states that she is curious about a lot of things, though she wants to open up and tell him her secret without judgement, but she's unsure if ken would take her seriously.

though she wasn't as close to the other members when they were trainees and planning to debut as estrella, thanks to this incident of theirs she finds that she's becoming closer and more attached to them than before. just like when they were training to become estrella they haven't stopped practicing hard for iris' debut. although there is definitely a lot of pressure on the girls for them to do well and to ensure victory media's success in the future, they all lean on each other for support and encourage each other to do well.

✾ sooah definitely isn't unfamiliar with the concept of time travel. she read up a lot about it in books and online, and she finds the multiple worlds theory quite interesting, and is somewhat of a believer in it. she's thought about things like what if her birthmother didn't die after she was born, or if her father stuck with being a single father, just how different life would be if this theory was indeed true. however before it was all simply that, a theory. now that she's actually experiencing the phenomenon for herself is just... shocking, for lack of a better word. she finds it difficult to deal with her situation, and in all honestly she wants it to end sooner rather than later before she messes up somewhere and changes the future too drastically.
( how do they feel about becoming a member of iris? )
✾ now that sooah has to step in the shoes of one of her sunbaes, who were the foundation of victory media and how she even became an idol in the first place, she's more than a bit scared, terrified even. it feels wrong of her to put on this facade, to be the lee hyejin. she was nothing like her, and from looking up victory media's history and seeing the girl group on things like variety shows and in music videos, she sees hyejin as almost being a polar opposite to herself. she is honestly just praying to whatever god that's listening that yongsoo knows what he's doing and that he'll be able to help the girls succeed. she trusts him but she still has her concerns, but when it comes to the basic level of it she just wants her and her group to do well.
( how do they feel about the past? )
✾ due to the time she's put into reading about time travel and ways of rewriting history she knows that even something as small as a snail on a footpath can make the human population go extinct. she feels that's what her position is like currently in the past, and she dislikes it more than she likes it. additionally, she also misses her family, her brother, and her boyfriend sungwon. although she has her fellow iris members with her, she feels incredibly alone here. nobody knows who yoon sooah is, and they most likely never will, and knowing that fact breaks her heart. the other things about the past which she's thought about are the fact that life in general is so... different. there are things which are thought as acceptable in 2035 that wouldn't have even been thought of as existing in this time.
( if they had the choice, would they go back or stay? )
✾ this is a tough question for her. she'd want to go back to the future because all the people she loves are there; her family, her boyfriend, and all the other trainees she's met. however on the other hand, there are so many people in 2013 that she would've never got to meet if she had never been sent to the past. she also feels closer with her fellow 'iris' members here than she thinks she would have if they debuted as estrella. though in saying this, she feels too much responsibility for her being sent to the past, to 2013, to having the possibility of causing a paradox in the timeline and meaning the demise of victory media. if she had to pick now she would want to go back, though this may or may not change depending on how life goes for her in 2013 and onwards.
