Gang!AU Gangs and Police description

bul sa pa (불사파)

Bul Sa Pa―a relatively new gang as compared to the Sang Yongs. They're not quite as opulent as the older gang, but that's only because they haven't been around as long, their territory and clientele base not quite as widespread. But specializing in drug trafficking―an increasingly hot commodity as the police force begins to crack down on criminals of all ilks―and churning out increasingly high quality goods for those willing to pay for it, they're working hard to get back on their feet after the murder of their older leader, the messy transition to the new.

Not quite as coldblooded or far reaching as the Sang Yongs, they're slowly working their way into the system, fingers dipping into pockets of their own, and influences spreading fast through the underground to become the second largest known gang in Seoul. And while they may not seem as intimidating as the Double Dragons that will inevitably bite back, everyone knows you don't play with Fire.

  • LEADER: Park Chanyeol
  • SECOND IN COMMAND: Kim Jongin

Sang Yong Pa (쌍용파)

No one knows for sure just how long the Sang Yong Pa have been building their underground network beneath the streets of Seoul, but everyone knows who they are. As one of the largest, and arguably the most dangerous gang in Seoul, the Sang Yongs have always been a main source behind the red that painted the streets for years. With their hands dipped into the pockets of local law enforcement, politicians and businessmen alike, the Sang Yongs are nearly untouchable in their rule, a legacy which their newest leader will continue to uphold. No one knows for sure when Jeon Sr. had passed, but with his father gone, Jeon Jeongguk has stepped into the position of leader for the Sang Yongs, and he’ll be damned if he lets the gang crumble.

With the gang itself compromised by the make up of five founding families that directly report to the Jeons, each family has long since branched out in establishing their own empires. Specializing in trade and weapons dealing, the underground black market is also largely within their control. From protection rackets to loan sharks, every man in assured their own pretty penny once they realize the value of living outside the law.

쌍용파 ( Sang Yong Pa ) in Korean directly translates to the Double Dragon Mob. A fitting name for their identifying marker, or gang tattoo, as it is the image of two dragons curling over one another that can be found on every member’s upper arm. Any other dragon tattoos, in relation to gangs, can be assumed to link to the Sang Yongs. Their current leader is Jeon Jeongguk, and although young, he rules his metaphorical kingdom with an iron fist.

  • LEADER: Jeon Jeongguk
  • HEADS OF FOUNDING FAMILIES: Min Yoongi, Kim Himchan, tba, tba, tba.

violent crimes dept. (seoul police)

What with the overwhelming presence of gangs in and around Seoul, the city-wide police department has their hands full of unsolved murders, intercepted drug deals, disappearances— everything you can imagine and a little more. Some criminal activity had gone down after the passing of Huang Zitao, but there’s still a near-overwhelming amount of cases that have yet to be closed; that's where the violent crimes dept. comes in. Led by Jung Daehyun— a twenty-five year old officer that was promoted after the passing of their previous head— they place a special focus on investigating crimes related to gang activity.

Due to pressure from the government, their goal is to raise the department’s clearance rate and disassemble the gangs that are driving up Seoul’s criminal activity, and after the murder of the head before him, Daehyun is hellbent on getting gang members and associates behind bars.

Being a part of the team means putting yourself head-to-head with both prominent gangs as well as their subsidiaries. They are a team of officers with either a long serving time or special skills that are seen as valuable within the department— fifteen individuals specifically chosen to be the most efficient at being able to tackle the cases most likely linked to gangs within the city. All members are over twenty one, but likely to be in their mid to late twenties, if not their thirties, just based on how many years they've had on the field.

  • LEADER: Jung Daehyun
  • SECOND IN COMMAND: Bae Suzy

I thought Sa Yong Pa was the one without a fixed leader yet and Centipede's leader was Tao.
