◔ ethnicity : half chinese, half korean

( mandarin ) fluent; first native language
( korean ) fluent; second learnt language

please smile~

◔ faceclaim : byeon, jeongha
◔ back-up faceclaim : yoon, suna
beautiful inside and out~

◔ personality traits :
( positive ) curious, filial, independent, devoted, hardworking
( neutral ) realistic, logical
( negative ) detached, prideful, doubtful, conflicting (in trivia)

◔ personality : infinitely curious, min has always been an initiator, trying to find things to learn and figure out. she thinks that there's still room in the brain to grow ever since birth, learning that humans basically use ten percent of their brains only, and she tries to take up as much space of it as she can while she's still young. it doesn't mean that she's completely book-smart though, always forgetting bits and pieces of details, but she still thinks as logically as she can. it leads her to be more independent than others, becoming devoted to whatever work she picks up and works harder for it. it also helps that she's an only child, taking on responsibilities at a young age and taught by her father and mother to become curious of the world and what it entails.

because of how her parents brought her up, especially with the chinese history and familial duties within her, min is filial towards her parents. she believes she owes them her life because they gave her hers and she tries to make them proud in some way any way. this probably contributed to her being prideful in most of her endevours when she succeeds in them. she's not the type to boast loudly about her achievements, but she'll definitely have that certain 'i'm above you' tone in her voice when she's talking to somebody about it. with this, she'd rather figure out things on her own without going to somebody else for help, taking the first step beside the risks, but she's slowly trying to come to terms with the fact she does need help from other people and it can't just be all on her.

despite all this, min is also a detached person in the sense that she's objective about most things. her curiosity and logic will push to the forefront of her mind and it'll make her seem like she's at a distance from everybody around her even though she tries not to be. it'll make her realistic, practical, about how things work and its outcome. she's filial towards her parents and close to them because of her background, but it seems different, maybe more difficult, with her friends. she thinks that friends don't last long and believes that they have to prove they actually want to stay friends with her for a long time (because most of the time, they leave by moving, etc.). but when someone stays friends with her and actually puts effort into the friendship, she becomes just as devoted to them as she is to her parents.

seize the moment~

◔ background : min was born in beijing, china to zhou lan and do jeongmin, a teacher and a businessman, respectively. her parents met while her father was doing business in china and their relationship flew off from there. min and her family moved to seoul, south korea when she was ten, her father having accepted a better position back in his home country, and has lived there ever since. she hasn't realized it yet but she comes to think it's because of this move that she's doubtful of making long-lasting friendships. she attended the rest of her middle, high school and university years in south korea before graduating in the first quartile of her class in business, having some troubles in her basic classes because she wasn't really interested in them and always confused facts and dates, and attaining very few friends throughout her years there. she was pushed to excel by her parents, so she tried her hardest.

◔ fun facts :
( she's not a fan of history classes. she's terrible with memorizing dates and events, so she eventually started to dislike the class more and more each year she was required to take it. if anything, she prefers learning about her chinese background since she lived there less than in south korea.
( she excels in math-related subjects, but probably because of the business aspect of her life. and she takes pride in her 'superb math skills.'
( she often feels like she could be dyslexic even though she knows she's not. she just happens to mix up her p's and b's more often than what's considered normal as well as a sequence of numbers if she doesn't chant it under her breath.
( she hates cats. for the life of her, she doesn't know why (but probably after meeting lu han and his nameless cat, that's probably the reason why). she's more of a dog person than anything. #corgis4lyfe
( she rubs/messes with her ear lobe when she's deep in thought or nervous.
( her favorite colors are purple and pastel pink.
( she loves marvel avengers. they're her life. her favorites are the eternal 3: iron man, thor, and captain america.
( min doesn't understand love. she gets the concept and has seen bad romance movies about it, but she just doesn't understand it. how can one person be committed to another for their whole life? she's definitely curious about it, but it doesn't last long because other crushes.
( along that, she doesn't like romance movies. unless it's combined with good action or great comedy and adventure, she'd rather not deal with romance movies and all the tears it brings.
( she works with yena since yena is a graphic designer and they do projects together.
( she likes to tell herself she doesn't believe in the supernatural because of her logic, realistic side, but her curious side believes in it 100%. it makes her severely conflicted and freaks her out when something seems really and truly real when it's probably not.
( she's not a fan of crying. she just doesn't like the runny nose and puffy eyes that come with it.

being loved no matter what~

◔ family :
father - do, jeongmin - 58 - businessman - jeongmin and min have a strange, awkward relationship. he was usually busy with work ever since she could remember, but every time he was home, he would try very hard to bond with min since she's his only child and daughter. they'll have awkward yet funny conversations and behaviors when they're around each other.

mother - shi, lan - 57 - high school teacher - strangely enough, lan used to teach history in china but switched to math in south korea. she had enough credits/knowledge of both subjects so she was allowed the switch. this is probably why min isn't very great at history except china's and actually very good in math while in south korea. they have an okay relationship, sometimes it's awkward, but more than half the time, it's fun and very open.

◔ friends :
(best) friend - kim, jiyeon (another applicant, -yinghua) - 22 - veterinarian - min treasures jiyeon as her friend. they met in university and ever since jiyeon told her straight up 'we're going to be friends for a long time,' min has slowly started to believe her when jiyeon basically wouldn't leave her alone. they have fun together and are always backing the other up (usually). min is jiyeon's realistic side and jiyeon is min's helpful and humorous side.

friend - song, yena - 22 - graphic designer - min and yena are friends but not as close as min and jiyeon, only because some of their interests and personality traits clash but they still make their friendship work. despite being younger than min, yena tries to help her out when it comes to anything history but she's learned how to do it in a subtle way so as not to somehow, accidentally insult min. min tries to understand she's just trying to help but she's simply not used to it. (but they do often like to bicker about cats v. dogs and romance v. action movies -- min thinks that yena and lu han could actually be friends and bond over cats if they had the chance, that's a secret though.) -- (think of their friendship as more of a fun frenemy type of friendship, perhaps)
where love never ends~

◔ love interest : lu, han
◔ back-up love interest : byun, baekhyun
◔ birth date & age : 20/04/1790 + 25 (in 1815) / 06/05/1792 + 23 (in 1815)
◔ occupation : farmer slash slave / merchant (who sings on the side)

◔ personality : lu han is generally an easygoing guy, the type that goes with the flow and with what life gave him. he's strangely optimistic, grateful with what he has and working hard believing that it'll pay off in the future, and yet it somehow works as his charm despite his occupation and (possibly?) troubling past with he and his mother were brought to korea to be farmers/slaves while he was still a child (although his mother was bought, the buyers thought her son would prove useful in the future and took him in too). even though he's easygoing, he doesn't really open up very quickly. he's tricky and cunning, finding ways around questions to protect himself and his background. he's also quite humorous, learning enough of the language from how long he's been in korea to know the strangest words and the strangest phrases, and protective, especially of his mother and himself.

◔ interactions : lu han is hesitant around min at first, going on a run to get some items for the land, and doesn't understand her clothing and curious attitude with him. he doesn't understand why someone would be speaking to a low-class worker like him, so he tries to dance around the idea of such a woman speaking to him.

it isn't until she tries to follow him that he starts to blow her off, trying very subtly to let her know that whatever she's trying to do, it's probably not going to look good on her at all in the future. she very easily tells him that she's simply curious about him and wants to know more about him and his background. it doesn't go well, lu han trying very hard not to start an argument with her, but when yena tells her why he's probably being defensive, being observant and understanding, it's because he's a low-class worker/slave. min quickly understands and tells him her own background first, allowing him to trust her a bit more as time goes on.

later on, they're actually quite comfortable with each other. min watches him from afar while he does his daily duties and they try to sneak around to talk and just be together. she likes touching his hands and staring at him because he's like hard work personified. he thinks it's very odd at first but eventually finds it amusing, wondering how someone like her could be so interested in someone like him and what he does. (she also figures that since she's not from that time, she should try to receive whatever he's willing to give. she'd like a kiss before she leaves (if she leaves) and he gives her one, holds her close.)

◔ extras : lu han has a gray cat he befriended while he was working in the fields, since he'd sneak him a few foods, the cat seemed to like following him everywhere. the weird thing is that the cat doesn't respond to any name lu han calls him. he'll only respond if he has a long blade of grass to play with the cat or if he has food. lu han loves the cat. min calls him 'nameless' and tries to like him. it doesn't work.

◔ potential ending : min knows about the choices given to her, but she eventually chooses to go back to the present, because of her parents. honestly, she wouldn't mind spending her time left in 1815, living out the rough life with lu han and dying from the plague, only because she doesn't think she can find another person like him anywhere else. but when (if) she goes back to the present, they never meet again. they always happen to be in the same place (because he was a student at the same university as her but a year ahead and plays sports/is a soccer coach afterwards or marketing) but never at the same time. they always miss each other by seconds or minutes, and it's just heartbreaking but min eventually and slowly moves on.
let the words fall out~

◔ comments : okay so, for the potential ending, you can seriously go either way. she can either stay in the past with lu han or go to the present and never meet him again. i like the heartache but whichever your heart desires ;u; i also added lu han's cat!! like, i just had to. i'm sorry. you can ignore that part if you want ;u;
◔ questions : does this app even make sense? i hope it does otl i changed up the personality quite a few times so i hope the end project isn't accidentally a mashup of everything i had before the current one ;;
◔ scene requests :
( min and lu han sitting on a small dock or a porch or somewhere where their legs are hanging off and min has one of lu han's hand in her lap, playing with his fingers. ugh, yes please.
( min and yena bickering but actually being caring towards each other in their own ways.
( min and the girls walking around a market. idk. i feel like it's going to come up some time anyways but i really want a scene in a market??? don't mind me haha
( min glaring at an indifferent, gray cat she affectionately calls 'nameless' in the present after everything happens. this can happen in the past too. that's cool.
( min and the girls getting in troubling situations? it could be funny or something else, haha.
( i can add more later! ;u;
Thank you! ♥
