Tao's Solo (my thoughts)

This has been burning inside me for a while now.

I like the song...like, a lot. I'm definitely buying. However, that doesn't stop me from thinking this whole situation was utter bull. Tao is also full of . I'm a total believer for doing your own thing and pursuing your dreams (I support Luhan and Kris and got angry at Junmyeon and Tao for 'calling them out') but the fact that they're supporting Tao? Bull.

I don't see how hurting your leg on stage or whatever = solo debut. He obviously milked as much as he could out of that whole situation. Calling Luhan and Kris "traitors" for doing just what he's doing, following their dreams. Right.

I don't know. I support his decision for leaving but I'm bitter about the way he went about it. I've lost major respect for Tao and it's not something that I think will ever be fixed. Oh well. I'll probably still listen to his songs, if they're good.

Music is music.

I'm just so annoyed. I remember seeing his instagram post and thinking..."you sly ing fox." SM treats you unfairly, regarding your injuries....so you quit the group but stay under the same label, who treated you unfairly. Ok. Makes sense.

However, if he isn't actually under SM, please correct me. Then I'll have to rethink everything and I'd happily do that. Tao was one of my favourites, which some of you know if you read "Survivor" in which he is one of the main characters. But being a fan doesn't make me blind. I can admit when my idol does something stupid.

You know what else bugs me? Even if I adore(d?) Tao, he's not solo-material. Yes, the song and album are good but nothing amazing. Someone like Baekhyun, Kyungsoo or Jongdae would be best suited. I'm sorry for Tao can't sing as well as them, nor can he dance as well as Jongin or Sehun. He's the kind of member in a group that's best suited for group activities.

Like, if, say...Hyoyeon, from SNSD, tried to have a solo. All she can do is dance, her voice isn't above average. Admit it. Or if Sehun tried having a solo. He can't sing, nor can he rap. (Idol rappers rarely can, except for those who have proven that they can, like Zico, Bobby, RapMon, Hanbin, GD etc.)

Chanyeol is my EXO bias but he couldn't have a rap solo debut. Maybe sing, since he's improved...but not enough to carry him through an entire (successful) career. Do you get what I mean? I hate criticising idols, especially idols that I hold dear to me. EXO was my first ever K-Pop group and to see them fall apart like this kills me.

But I accepted it because, well, that's what a fan should do, right? I hated Kris leaving but still supported him. Same with Luhan. SM is , we all know it, but they DO do one thing right: make their idols famous. And for Tao to say he "wasted his time" up until his solo? Boy, shut the up. You wouldn't be where you are if it wasn't for EXO.

I'd say the very same about Kris and Luhan. SM may be a devil's spawn (or maybe not completely) but they know how to do marketing. Don't bite the hand that feeds, or fed, you.

That's all.

To continue where I left off, Tao didn't say that his time with EXO was meaningless, some of his lyrics were mistranslated. And about his solo. I don't agree with you, Tao actually has a very harmonious voice and relatable lyrics that he wrote. Apart from his wushu, his musical skills weren't promoted right. If you still see him as not solo worthy, then check his accomplishments in wikipedia. He has already won awards and is considered to be one of the most influential singers in China, his work has given us so much perspective and emotion.

P.S. I don't see any other EXO member working with Wiz Khalifa other than Tao. And if you still disagree with SM's super mistreatment of him, Jackie Chan has been trying to work with Tao since 2013 but wasn't able to because of SM, he hasn't accomplished until Tao left SM and their movie is now due to release in 2017. See he didn't get much promotion and SM wouldn't even let him do his dream job of being a martial arts action movie star and with his idol and one of his greatest influences, Jackie Chan no less.

I guess this might be a little late but I disagree with you on some points. Yes Tao badmouthed kris but he has since admitted about being in the wrong. Kris was the person in EXO that Tao looked up to the most, he considered kris as a very close gege to him, and though it doesn't fully justify his actions, Tao felt betrayed because Kris didn't even talk to him about his plans. We all know that despite Tao's high physical and intuitive strength, he is still considered to be one of the most sensitive members. A situatuation like that could easily sweep a person away in emotion, and Tao admitted that he regretted it. I know what it feels like to be swept up in a situation like that so I can understand Tao. I was betrayed so I vented everything out on social media and almost lost a friend.

As for the not appreciating EXO thing, Tao also admitted that he never planned on leaving them but he just couldn't control certain things and events like his manager for example. When Tao left EXO he left SM because SM is the very reason why he left not the group.

The chinese members are easily relatable if you delve deeper into the situation because unlike the Korean members, their contracts were practically slavery. Tao wasn't milking anything because of his injuries, I think that every accident he had is a valid point to why he left. SM did not treat all of EXO right, especially the chinese members. The chinese members weren't promoted right and they suffered from violations of human rights. Tao was injured and still forced to promote and prior to that, every appearance he made, he was forced to perform wushu. Imagine ifyou yourself was ijured and not given treatment aswell as being forced to get your medicine alone in crutches.

THANK YOU! even though SM might not be the best at being nice to their idols they are the BEST at promoting them. just look at TVXQ, SJ, SNSD, Shinee, F(x), and EXO. no matter how unfair they are to their idols or how they favor some groups over the other if you say anything about kpop SM groups will ALWAYS be included in the conversation. everyone knows who SM idols are. they don't need to work half as hard as any other new rookie. EXO was basically spoon fed into stardom because of their HUGE sunbaes. Kris and Luhan's situation i can't say much about. i thought it was messed up when they left but i still support them to an extent. Kris's departure was a shock to everyone, even the members. he said he was sick then out of no where got signed to do a movie right after. Luhan wasn't exactly the same as Kris because the movie was filmed while he was in SM and it seem that his departure was the easiest on the members because it kind of seem like they kind of knew what was going to happen. BUT ING TAO. when he first left i was ok. i was thinking it was cause of the stress that his father was giving him. what i read on allkpop was that Tao's dad let Tao stay in SM because SM said they were going to give him a workshop in China like Lay. so thats already like wtf. then he quit because of an injury. then out of no where BOOM SOLO! WTF. then in the lyrics it said something about not wanting to remember the past. like WTF! i understand if you hate SM but saying that the past meant nothing and something you don't want to remember wow. Also, the fact that he said in an interview that he felt alone. he had 3 other Chinese members with him! i don't understand how he can say that. i just feel like those 3 left because they wanted to be famous on their own and they didn't want to be a group. . Henry & Zhou Mi waited YEARS to finally get a solo and recognition. i feel like those 3 just used SM to get where they want because they knew SM can make them BIG before going solo.

well,i think the same about Tao but about Chanyeol that he can't have a solo i think differently. He has really deep voice so his rap and the few lines he gets to sing makes you want to repeat that part again,my opinion so i think he can hold his own solo with a little lines and Rap on the most part...AND AND AND i definitely feel the same about Kris,Luhan and Tao.Just because they got famous under SME 'WITH' Exo and got their names known, doesn't mean they can just leaven like THAT,like nothing matters no one matters and its a selfish act to me and whats with the crap their life was being controlled,i mean they were tranies for like 6 or 7 years they should have known how hard it is for Idols or celebrities or whatever they think they are??!!.cause they could definitely see their seniors like SUJU or ShiNEE or SNSD and MORE.What they said before leaving to me was more like a planned thing!!!
another thing we all definitely know or some may not that when idols or singers get famous other companies try to drag them to themselves because they want that well known person to work under them and i think their companies that are in their own mother lands, where they were born might have tried to give them an emotional speech about how they should work for their own country although Kris was from Canada still he was a half Canadian,Chinese...so it makes sence for me if they wanted to work with their own people and maybe get paid more,But the way they left was so disappointing and Selfish!!
HAA~~Yup this is what i wanted to say for a long time now.I don't even care now and i don't know why did i write such long speech for nothing!!

Frankly, I'm not quite sure what I feel about this. (I only found out recently, when you updated Survivor and I just had to search about what you were talking about. XD?) Everything I read and do these days are desensitized from me; it's like I feel nothing at all (but not really?), and I don't even know why. I'm too busy these days and my thoughts are going downhill, even when I'm doing rather well in school. If I personally knew Tao and if he were in practically the same situation as mine, wherein I'm getting less and less motivated to go to school, I think I can relate, but I won't do what he did, even if I were "betrayed" by people who were with me for the last couple years (although I don't have much people I can call my true friends) and pushed around by someone else. I'm the type to bottle up my emotions and then let them explode when I'm alone so when I feel certain things, I write about it and keep it to myself (and THEN tell my mom and my best friend and a few other people I trust, when the time is right XD).
I think Tao should've made more songs, even if I've never heard them, and AT LEAST kept them hidden for a while until he could make an entire album and perfect them. (Maybe?) Or was he just sharing the songs to show his love, like when authors are touched by their readers and get inspired to write? I know it's a bad analogy but I want to understand his actions. (I think I'd make a bad parent, haha... I'm too ‘nice.’) So, maybe looking at it at a different point of view would make me understand him and not just narrowing down the reasons for his actions to one possibility. However, I still can't understand a person unless I talk to them so...
I'm not biased when I say all of this. I just don't like judging people and being quick to react when I don't know the entire truth (yet, or never will know the entire truth). (See, I guess I'm an optimist when it comes to other people but a true cynic/pessimist when it comes to myself. Haha...ha? :-/)

You and the other commenters already said it all. It's just UGH. I don't have anything good to say to Tao so I'm just gonna shut up. It also doesn't help that Tao's actually at the bottom of my bias list since 2012 and he's never managed to climb up. XD

Ur opinion is same as mine though it really makes me wonder what happens behind closed doors???? It doesnt make sense that he all became bitter when he was pursuing even wid injuries.

I'm not a fan of EXO but I listen to their songs and I feel the same about Tao not a solo-material. I mean, he has talents. He can sing, but he CAN'T sing. He can dance, but he CAN'T dance. I don't know how many people can understand that and I know a lot of people might not agree with me, but well, it's my personal opinion. Like, although I love these idols, but let's admit that they're not perfect. At all.

I was shocked when the news of him going solo first went out, because not long ago I saw news of him getting injured. Like, what??? As much as I don't want to feel this way, I can't help but to think and feel of him as a traitor. I don't know. I may be wrong about him, because I don't know the real story. Only he and SM know what's the real thing and what's not so... yeah. But, no matter what, if his songs are good, it's good for him though.
