appearance » Nik/SeungHyun likes to think of himself as neither tall, nor short, since he stands at 172 cm (or 5'8"). He's rather thin for his age and height, but despite how he looks, he has enough muscle to pack a nice punch. On his left shoulder blade, he has a tattoo in cursive letters:

"Mark HyunWoo Ahn

1995 ~ 2012"

This tattoo is usually hidden from everyone's eyes, but the ends of the tattoo can peek out from underneath sleeveless shirts. He also has a dark, jagged scar on the right side of his abdomen to his hipbone. It's dark color makes the mark much more prominent against hthe pale skin of his abdomen. When he genuinely smiles, he has a soft eye-smile and small dimples. His natural hair color is dark brown, nearly black, like all his siblings and he usually likes to keep his hair short, but long enough to cover the tops of his ears and his forehead. However, he's tried several different hair colors and styles just for the fun of it, and these changes happen on a whim. Until recently, he used to wear ear piercings. The tiny holes in his ears are empty now, but they're still there and haven't completely closed up. He almost always wears a soft smile on his face and he laughs often as if he's amused. It may look heartfelt, and he may fool many people, but his genuine smiles and laughs are rather rare ever since a certain tragedy.

 

style » SeungHyun tends to wear jeans and graphic t-shirts. Anything comfortable. When it starts to get colder outside, he begins to wear lots of sweatshirts and hoodies. He also has a collection of caps, gifts from his older sister and younger siblings. For shoes, he has a dozen different colors of converses, red being his favorite. However, he also has lots of sneakers, especially basketball shoes. Seunghyun always wears a bright red G-Shock watch, even if it clashes with his outfit. He has a black G-Shock watch of the same style for  when he attends formal events. Usually tucked underneath the collar of his shirts is a thin silver chain that holds a silver band around his neck. On the inside of the silver band is the same thing as his tattoo.

PRESENT CAREER » After his older sister finished graduate school with an MBA [Master of Business Administration], Seunghyun moved to South Korea to join up with her. She helped him open up a small photography studio, Starry Wishes, and helps him with official business deals. She's basically like his manager, and he's a part-time photographer and a full-time university student.

 

personality » Before the tragedy, Nik/SeungHyun was very friendly, open and easy to approach. He was very popular around the school due to his friendliness and his eagerness to make friends. However, post-tragedy, he became very introverted and would talk to almost no one except for his sister, Lauren.

 

Smiles and Laughter. Nik has always been one to be easily amused. Whether it's a comedy show or just something funny someone did, he can't hold back his laughter or his bright smiles. Currently, his smiles aren't as bright and his laughter isn't quite as happy as it used to be. But that's why he's here. To find that happiness again through new friends.

 

Very Active. He likes to go out often, no matter the weather. It takes his mind off of things, especially when he's been cooped up all day studying for his classes. That's no fun... So he goes out, does some sports, or maybe just takes a simple walk. He definitely doesn't mind some company in his morning jogs.

 

Focused and always with a drive. When he wants to do something, he'll put his mind to it no matter what's surrounding him. He won't do anything without his full effort when it comes to his job. He doesn't stop until everything he wants done is done. If someone needs something done, he's definitely someone to go to for some advice. Although, he does tend to procrastinate when it comes to school work...

 

Keep it Organized. Keep it Neat. His siblings used to for being OCD. He isn't really but cleaning and organizing things definitely gets his mind off of things. It's relaxing, he'll tell people. So be it his own room, or even someone elses, he'll organize it if he sees that it's messy. When things are out of order, he can barely stand it, but he doesn't say anything. He'll just clean it without anyone noticing.

The Silent Ninja. He's very quiet, and he always seems out of it, but he's actually just observing and watching everyone. People may think that he's zoning out...okay, maybe he is. But he's got lots to think about when it comes to his part-time job as a photographer and his full-time job as a student at the university.

 

Witty with a hint of Sarcasm. Just because he's quite doesn't mean he won't throw in the occassional witty comment or sarcastic remark. Watch out... he doesn't mean to offend anyone. It's just his way of being playful.

 

Awkward...kind of. He's just now trying to put himself out there again. To open himself up again after keeping himself in such a closed box. He also has this bad habit of apologizing often since he thinks everything's his fault, but he does it less than before, but still quite often. Please take care of this awkward puppy! ^^

background » Nik/SeungHyun and his twin brother, Mark/HyunWoo were born into an Upper-Middle Class family in 1995, in Boston, Massachussets. When the two were only 2-years-old, their family moved to Oklahoma City into a small apartment that was rather small for a family of five. Once their family settled down, their parents opened an Asian Bistro, or restaurant. In this restaurant, the two brothers and their older sister, Lauren/JiMin grew up in their father's office while his two younger siblings had a playroom built into the building when the restaurant was remodeled to expand its capacity.

 

Nik, as well as all his siblings, attended the same private school in Oklahoma City which offered an education for Pre-Schoolers through High School Seniors. In the October of Nik and Mark’s second grade year, their younger brother, Christopher or Chris, was born. Two years later, their youngest sibling, Kaitlyn was born in February. After Kaitlyn’s birth, the Ahns moved into a large two-story house with a swimming pool in the backyard. The family also adopted a small German Shepard puppy.

 

Nik first discovered photography in first grade when he began to play around with his father’s cameras which were lying around the house. He most especially loves polaroid cameras, but he has many different types of cameras. For his birthday, Lauren and Mark would buy him a different camera every year. Every year on their birthday, Nik would make a scrapbook of the entire previous year with Lauren's help. While Nik found his love for photography, Mark found a passion for music and dance. Both Lauren and Nik encouraged him to audition for several companies. When Lauren moved to Seoul, she suggested Mark to audition for some Korean entertainment companies. News of his acceptance into JYP Entertainment as a trainee came in the form of an official letter in the summer of 2012.

 

Once the twins turned 15-years-old, they began to help around the restaurant. Usually as a Cashier/Host, but occasionally as a waiter and kitchen assistant. The two brothers were nearly inseparable. They did everything together. They went to all the parties together even if one was invited but the other was not. Even if they didn’t have the same classes, they found ways to spend time together as much as possible during school breaks. The two shared almost everything: a bedroom, food, clothes, shoes, nearly everything. This also included their first car once they turned 16 and received their driver’s license.

 

In March of 2012, Nik was driving the car home from school with Mark sitting in the passenger seat next to him when an accident occurred on the interstate highway. Nik was lucky enough to walk away from the accident with a large, jagged scar on the right side of his abdomen to his hipbone, a knee replacement and an artificial foot. Mark, on the other hand, lost his life. Ever since the accident, Nik developed a phobia of excessive blood and is nervous when he rides a car going at a fast speed. As the driver on that tragic day, he also has survivor’s guilt and blames himself for Mark’s death. When he turned 18 that year in the Fall, he got the tattoo on his left shoulder blade and bought the engraved ring he wears around his neck at all times without his parents’ knowledge. Lauren is the only person who knows all of Nik’s secrets. He wears the ring and bears the tattoo as physical burdens of his guilt.

 

Since the accident, Nik has recovered slightly from his trauma, but it still takes over him when he’s alone, especially at night. When the burden is too hard for him to bear, he will occasionally find his sister whether unknowingly or consciously. In the present day, Nik hides his sadness and his guilt through his fake, seemingly honest, smiles and laughter. Once he graduated from high school, he moved to Seoul, South Korea, to live with Lauren in her apartment. She helped him open up a photography studio as a way to distract him from his depression and to relieve his stress as a university student. When she found out about the boarding house, she encouraged him to put himself out their and meet some new friens.

Father || Ahn JaeHeon || 64 || Business Owner || He's occasionaly strick on his children, but is mostly easygoing for the most part. He encourages his children to do their best no matter what and to be strong. He teaches them with lots of patience, especially how to act at Upper Class gatherings and formalities. Lauren likes to call him Confuscius because of all the riddle like sayings and wise advice he gives to the kids. He dotes on the three oldest kids the most, but he still loves the two youngest dearly.

 

Mother || Xuan LiYin || 59 || Head Chef || She's a very tough, and strict, mother on her kids. She always urges them to do their best. However, she has very short temper, is extremely emotional, and has a bad habit of speaking whatevers on her mind only to regret it later. Although she regrets it, she has too much pride to apologize herself. Everyone in the family, even if they don't show it, are very understanding and try their best to be patient with her. At the end of the day, after all the yelling and screaming, she's the best mom any of the Ahn siblings can ask for. They love her dearly and she loves her children no matter what. While their father dotes on the three oldest, she spoils the two youngest the most.

 

Older Sister || Lauren [JiMin] Ahn || June 13,  1981 (34) || Small Business Owner || She may be 14 years older than him, but Nik's closest sibling is Lauren, second only to Mark. As siblings, the two of them may fight often due to their differences and opinions, but they always find ways to make up not long after. She's hot-tempered and, as a result, is overly protective of him. Although she completed her undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering at MIT [Massachusetts Institute of Technology], she finished her graduate school with an MBA [Master of Business Administration] from Harvard Business School. Currently, Nik lives with Lauren in her apartment in Seoul and she helped him open his photography studio, Starry Wishes, which is also her own business venture. In addition to this photography studio, she also owns a small coffee shop. She can also seem very motherly, for example, she encourages Nik to join the Boarding Houes because she knows and wants him to become more social again, to meet new and good friends.

 

Twin Brother || Mark [HyunWoo] Ahn || Nov. 17, 1995 || Deceased @ 17 || Back when they were younger, Mark, Lauren and Nik were known as the Tough Trio of the Ahn family. If you messed with one of them you got all of them coming back at you. The three of them were always together no matter what and even after Lauren left for college, the three of them still remained just as close. Mark was similar to Nik in some ways, but very different in others. He dreamed of becoming a singer and dancer after their parents pushed him to learn multiple musical instruments. Contrary to Nik, Mark was able to keep up with his studies and was, in fact, one of the top students in their high school. Nik may feel guilty for his death because he drove the car that day, but he also feels guilty because he believes that Mark had so many talents that he could've accomplished much more in life than he could ever imagine himself.

 

Younger Brother || Christopher Ahn || Oct. 28, 2002 (13) || 8th Grader || Chris excells in mathematics, but could care less about his studies. He would much rather stay at home and play League of Legends all day with the occassional round of Call of Duty. He often fights with Kaitlyn due to the closeness of their age and likes to kick and scream when things don't go his way. He dreams of becoming an LCS [Leauge Championship Series] player and to game professionally. He opened up his own gaming channel also.

Younger Sister || Kaitlyn Ahn || April 26, 2004 (11) || 6th Grader || Kaitlyn is really the opposite of Lauren. While Lauren was the tomboy of the girls, Kaitlyn would definitely be called a "girly girl." She first started to admire the use of cosmetics when she became a 5th Grader, and loves to make things, whether it be knitting, embroidering or Rainbow Loom. She often makes bracelets and accessories for her siblings and asks her parents to mail them to her two older siblings. She wishes to become a designer, stylist or "the people who make the pretty clothes" when she grows up.

Yu Barom [Rome of C-Clown] || Friend&Rival || Sept. 06, 1990 || Well-known to fans, Rome also has a passion for film and photography. Being a photographer has its many perks... As one of his first assignments, Nik first met Rome at a photoshoot where he was filling in for their original photographer who had called in sick that day. The two were able to sit down and talk and ended up exchanging contact info as well as personal projects by the end of the day. || Friendly, playful, witty. Rather protective as a friend.

 

 

Park MinYoung || Rival|| 29 || MinYoung stumbled upon Starry Wishes in her search for an employer. During this time, Lauren was flooded with orders for studio photography and hired her without first consulting Nik. Although he was initially angered by his lack of input in MinYoung's employment. Luckily for Lauren, he didn't hold much of a grudge. Instead, he found himself admiring her skills and competing with her in the professional field. || Very sarcastic, looks young for her age, gives Nik lots of criticism for his works, but actually really admires him for his passion and his skills for his age.
