“One you can walk out of this room and turn in your badge and gun. Two you can leave this room with this file and turn in your badge.”

“What sir?” I looked at him confused. “I’m fired.”

“Depends on which one you pick,” he smirked at me showing his crooked yellow teeth.

“What’s the file about?” I pointed to the folder that Chief Cho pulled out from his desk.

“A case,” he told me. “If you can hold this job for three months then I’ll place you on a special team. If not the Doll Maker team than another special team in Japan.”

“But there is a catch?” I asked slightly afraid of what the case entailed.

“You can quit at any time but if you do then you are no longer an employee here,” he informed me.

“But if I take it and I succeed I get a promotion,” I said more to myself then to the chief.
