Limited Air Supply

When Heechul accidentally overhears Kyuhyun muttering about how he’s going to lock Ryeowook and Yesung in the next available closet, he decides that there is no way he’s going to allow the snarky maknae to out ninja him. Bad enough that his reputation for having an attitude is on the verge of being topped by Kyuhyun’s sharp tongue, he cannot allow this child to outdo him any longer!
The thing is though, Heechul tends to go a little over the top when he does anything. Okay, maybe a LOT over the top, but at the time (as he told Kibum and Eeteuk later on) he did think it necessary blackmail Siwon into helping him install a little remote on the doorknob which would lock and unlock the thing at the push of a button. It took a lot longer to install the thing than Heechul would have liked, but that might have been- as Siwon was quick to point out- because they had to do it at night, in the dark and in total silence. “Of course we do,” Heechul hissed. “We can’t have either of them seeing what we’re doing, can we?”
And anyway, it worked!
“Ryeowook,” Heechul says calmly. “Can you come here for a minute?”
Ryeowook pads over to the closet like the good dongsang he is and Heechul bits back a smile. “Does this closet smell weird to you?”
Ryeowook sticks his head in. “I don’t smell anything, hyung.”
Heechul pushes him a little. “It’s in the back, near where we keep the umbrellas,” he explains. Just as he planned, Ryeowook steps inside. “Back here?”
“Yep!” Heechul yells, slamming the door shut and clicking the remote to lock it.
“What the-” Ryeowook yelps.
“Damn it!” Heechul cries. “I think it’s locked!”
The doorknob jumps as Ryeowook tries to open the door. “Hyung!” He screams, banging on the door.
“Hang on, I’ll go get someone to open it,” Heechul yells before dashing off to where he last saw his second victim.
“Yesung!” Heechul shrieks as he skids into the kitchen. “Ryeowook is stuck in the closet and he only has a limited air supply!”
In hindsight he can’t believe it works, but then again he can, because he’s Kim-ing-Heechul, everything he does works.
“Okay, Wookie,” Yesung calls while Heechul hovers nearby and nearly bites through his lip to contain his laughter. “On three I’m gonna run at the door and break it down.” Thank god Yesung has always wanted to play the macho hero.
Yesung backs up as far as he can. “Stand back! One-”
Heechul presses the button and the door unlocks.
“Two-”
“Hyung, I think it’s open…” But it’s too late.
“Three!”
And as Yesung charges, Ryeowook opens the door. Yesung stumbles and tries to stop but the momentum has already carried him too far forward and he crashes into Ryeowook, sending the both of them back deep into the closet. Heechul leaps forward and slams the door shut, cackling maniacally as locks, chains and duct-tapes it shut.
“Have fun, you lovebirds~” He sings as he skips away.

“Let it never be said that I am not the head ninja around here,” Heechul announces to Kyuhyun later while everyone else is trying to get the door open (“Limited air supply!” Yesung keeps yelling).
“Hyung, between you and Ryeowook I will never sleep,” Kyuhyun mutters into his pillow.

Be Mine

Changmin has no idea what Jaejoong sees in Zhou Mi- they are complete polar opposites. Jaejoong is clumsy as hell and trips over air, Zhou Mi walks like he’s on a freaking runway at all times. Zhou Mi is tall, thin and likes to shop, Jaejoong is…not as tall, has a six-pack and generally avoids malls. Zhou Mi doesn’t even like cats!
“I think he wants to eat me,” Zhou Mi says nervously as Jaejoong cuddles Jiji. Indeed, the cat does have a sort of hungry look about him.
“He probably just likes your cologne or something,” Jaejoong responds. Changmin disagrees- it smells like freaking lilacs.
“And I though Jaejoong-hyung was girly,” he mutters to Yoochun.
“Is the baby jealous of mama’s new friend?” Yoochun teases, pinching Changmin’s cheeks. He bats the hand away, refusing to pout and prove Yoochun right. Changmin just doesn’t see whatever it is Jaejoong sees in Zhou Mi.
“Okay,” Jaejoong calls, standing up. “We’re leaving now.”
Changmin leaps out from behind the corner and walks over. “Where are you going?” He demands, more of Zhou Mi than Jaejoong. “When will you be back? Who else is going?”
Jaejoong laughs stupidly and ruffles Changmin’s hair. “Don’t worry, mom,” he says playfully. “We’ll be back before 9:30.” And Changmin is left to mope around the apartment while his hyung goes out on a date.
Haha, yeah right.
Ten seconds after the door closes Changmin is ninja stalking the two of them out of the building clutching binoculars and a camera like some kind of crazed fangirl.
“God I look like such a crazed fangirl,” He mutters as he follows behind the pair- always making sure there are at least three people between them. Jaejoong laughs at something Zhou Mi has said and Changmin’s eyes narrow.
Oh Zhou Mi, you’re so funny,” he mumbles, imitating the voice Jaejoong uses on the phone every now and then. He hates how his hyung has suddenly become so freaking lovestruck that he barely has time for his friends anymore (He said this to Yunho and he was scandalized. “He sees Mi like, twice a month!”). Well damnit all, Changmin is going to find out today just what is so wonderful about dating Zhou Mi.
Their first stop is a tiny store that looks barely big enough for two people, and certainly too small for Changmin to hide in, so he lurks in a bakery across the street, observing the place with his binoculars until the two reemerge, but he notices that neither one is holding a bag.
Odd,’ He thinks. That was far too long for a cursory browse. But alas, they are on the move again and Changmin has to hurry or he will lose them.
They spend a lot of time just walking around, and it seems that their hats and scarves are doing a marvelous job of hiding their identities- but then as Changmin is aware, it’s hard to find what you aren’t looking for, and the people who are out today are Christmas shoppers, not students who would care about Super Junior and DBSK.
Finally they come to what must be the only open ice cream parlor in Seoul and Changmin nearly walks past them because he doesn’t expect them to stop. Who gets ice cream in November? He thinks as he hides behind a tree. The girl behind the counter smiles when she sees them and they chat for a bit, but she doesn’t try to flirt with either of them, and despite looking young enough to be a fan she doesn’t faint or squeal or even ask for an autograph. Changmin’s dying to know how they know her, but to ask would mean to admit he’d been spying.
God, even their ice cream flavors are completely different! Jaejoong gets mint chocolate chip (as always) and Zhou Mi gets something pink which he can only assume is strawberry. Gosh, how could they clash anymore?
The start walking AGAIN (God, he’s going to get blisters) and as they go they get progressively closer together, until by the time they arrive at a small playground in a relatively empty park, they are walking with their hands linked. Changmin hides a good twenty yards away in some bushes, binoculars pressed to his eyes. Jaejoong makes a beeline for the swings and Zhou Mi calls something about “My spot.”
“It doesn’t have your name on it!” Jaejoong fires back, but he’s laughing.
And maybe it’s just the reflection of the light on the lenses but something makes Changmin look closer at his hyung in that moment. Jaejoong’s head is thrown back, his eyes nearly shut from the force of his smile. Zhou Mi stands in front of him and Jaejoong looks up him with such a look of pure content that it makes Changmin freeze.
He’s never seen Jaejoong look like that. Ever.
~
Jaejoong kicks at the pebbles at their feet. “I dub this my swing,” he proclaims, grinning up at Zhou Mi and holding out a spoonful of ice cream. Mi surges forward and takes the proffered spoon, yanking it right out of Jaejoong’s hand.
“Hey!” he whines, and Mi rolls his eyes. “Fine, fine,” he sighs, handing it back, this time with a bit of strawberry ice cream on it.
They go back and forth like this for a while, sharing their snack and occasionally commenting on how the flavors taste when mixed. “You wouldn’t expect them to go so well together,” Jaejoong says as they finish.
“Which is probably exactly why we like them so much,” Mi tells him. Jaejoong smiles softly and digs his hands into the pockets of Zhou Mi’s coat, tugging him closer.
“Kiss me,” he demands. Mi cups his jaw with both hands and bends down, brushing his lips feather light against Jaejoong’s cheek. “Not what I meant,” Jaejoong says softly before he tips his head back and gives Zhou Mi a chaste peck.
“Okay this is hurting my back,” Zhou Mi says as they pull away. “Switch with me.”
“No way!” Jaejoong yelps, grabbing the chains of the swing. Zhou Mi smirks at him.
“What are you doing?!” Jaejoong cries. Zhou Mi grabs the swing and pushes it up as high as he can and lets go.
“Are you nuts?” Jaejoong asks, but he’s laughing at the same time so the firm effect is kind of ruined. Mi says nothing and instead pushes him higher until he feels like he could actually fly.
After a few minutes Jaejoong drags his feet in the pebbles and Zhou Mi comes back to stand in front of him. “Seriously,” Zhou Mi says, the chain around Jaejoong’s neck. “I cannot bend down like that- I’ll pull something.”
“Fine, but only because I love you so much,” Jaejoong says as he gets up and lets Zhou Mi take the swing.
They love coming to this park, because literally nobody comes here. The playground has been slated for remodeling for years, but it looks like crew gave up part way through, and only the swings and the skeleton of a beached pirate ship stand. It’s the one place they can stand outside and Jaejoong can lean down and kiss Zhou Mi without being stared at.
Jaejoong tightens his grip on Zhou Mi’s jacket and kisses him over and over, trying to imprint into his brain the feel of Zhou Mi’s lips and the ghosting of his breath on his skin. Zhou Mi is going back to China in four days. Who knows when they’ll see each other again.
“I’ll call you all the time,” Zhou Mi says, his Korean slurred a bit. Jaejoong taps his nose and smiles to hide the tears in his eyes.
“What’s my Caller ID on your phone?” He asks, even though he knows the answer.
Zhou Mi nuzzles his neck, kisses him softly.
“Mine,” he whispers.
~
Changmin is sitting on the couch when Jaejoong gets home. “9:34, buster,” he sasses without looking away from the TV. Jaejoong flops down next to him. “Traffic,” is his explanation.
Changmin flicks his eyes over to Jaejoong and does a double take. “Is that new?” He asks, pointing to the necklace Jaejoong now sports. He nods and shows Changmin the charm- a Chinese character.
“It’s nice. Did Zhou Mi get it for you?” Nod. “We both got one.”
“What’s it mean?” Changmin asks.
Jaejoong smiles happily. “Mine,” he whispers.
Changmin pretends to gag. “Urgh. You two are so cute it gives me cavities.”
He doesn’t say it, but Changmin guesses he’s willing to share if mean that Jaejoong will keep looking that happy.

Cookie for My Heart

Yunho’s mother once told him that there was nothing more beautiful than Seoul in the rain. Sitting under a bridge, huddled in on himself and trying to avoid the freezing raindrops, Yunho thinks glumly that it wasn’t the first time his mother was wrong about something. He swiped his bangs back and pushed his glasses up higher on his nose- not that it did much good, they were filthy and scratched.
Day 456 of homelessness, but who was counting?
Several people jogged past him, umbrella’s lowered against the wind and muttering to themselves about the cold, ignoring the man who was too young to be pitied for his age and too old to be considered too cute to be all alone. He fell in the inbetween- the people who were scoffed at and told to get a damn job and quit making other people feel guilty for not helping them.
‘I don’t want your pity,’ Yunho thought to himself. He just needed a chance to get back on his feet…
~
Jaejoong was already running late- he couldn’t find his rainboots and now his feet were soaked- and at this rate it would be 7:30 by the time he got to the bakery, but for heaven’s sake, what was he supposed to do when he saw that poor kid huddled up on the sidewalk?
“Are you okay?” He asked, standing in front of a shivering young man in a torn, navy blue jacket and dirty glasses. He seemed kind of shocked to be acknowledged.
“Where do you live?” Jaejoong asked, even though he already knew the answer.
“Here,” came the response in a voice cracked from disuse.
Jaejoong held out his hand. “Can I get you something to eat?”
The boy eyed him suspiciously. “Can I trust you?”
Jaejoong hid a smile- they were always like this at first.
“I’ll be back in 45 minutes,” he promised. The kid shrugged.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
Taecyeon is already standing outside the bakery when Jaejoong gets there. “You. Are. Late.” He growls, glowering at Jaejoong from under his hood. Jaejoong apologizes profusely as he shoves his key into the rusted lock, Taecyeon responds by pushing Jaejoong away from the door and running in first, basking in the heat still trapped from the previous day.
“I hate the rain,” he moans, throwing himself up against the oven door, faced pressed against the glass. “Freya, baby, I promise it’s just gonna be you and me today.”
“Oh my God, you freak,” Jessica cries as she too walks in- the bell over the door clangs and she winces a bit before turning back to the matter at hand, “Stop talking to the appliances.”
Taecyeon scowls at her and the side of the oven. “Show a little respect to my girl,” he complains.
“Alright now, both of you play nice,” Jaejoong warns, putting some of yesterday’s cookies on a sheet, unlocking the register and preheating the oven at the same time. His employees often comment on his scary ability to multitask.
“What have we got today, boss?” Woohyun calls as he too walks in from the rain, tugging Nana along with him. Once more Jessica winces.
“Are you like, hung over or something?” Taecyeon asks, edging away should she vomit.
“I want that Wedding cake finished and the Sweet 16 one 75% done by the end of today,” Jaejoong informs Woohyun.
“Ew, no!” Jessica yelps. “The neighbors were having a karaoke party again.”
Everyone winces at that.
“So that’s the Amazonian Jungle and the Posh Pink?” Taecyeon confirms.
“Posh Pink,” Jessica scoffs as she ties her apron- pink with embroidered Hello Kitty designs. “Well at least it’s better than that Hot Pink one. Honestly, get creative!”
“Says miss ‘I want a Princess Pink wedding cake,’” Taecyeon mutters.
“Okay kids,” Jaejoong says as he wraps up his cookies, interrupting what promises to be a very stirring battle of words. “I have to run out for a bit but I should be back shortly.”
“I’ll be back~” Taecyeon sings. Jessica throws a cookie cutter at him and hits him square on the head. “Gooooal!” Woohyun cheers.
“Another stray, oppa?” Nana asks as Jaejoong walks by her. He winks and puts a finger to his lips.
~
Yunho wasn’t expecting the guy to come back, really. So he’s very surprised when someone plops down next to him and holds a box under his nose.
“Not exactly breakfast food,” He says apologetically while Yunho wonders if he’s having a heart attack. “But still very good, I assure you.”
Yunho’s so taken aback that all he does is stare at the man next to him. Eventually the guy smiles and opens the box for him. Yunho wishes his cold was gone so he could actually smell the confections.
“My name’s Jaejoong,” he says as Yunho tentatively bites one of the cookies.
It’s like all of a sudden this train crashes into Yunho’s gut and he almost chokes. Could this be the help he’s been denied for so long? Could this man really be different from everyone who’s ever offered him help?
Well, he’s a damn good baker, that’s for sure.
“I’m Yunho,” he says. Jaejoong’s smile looks like it could chase away the rain.
~
Jaejoong brings Yunho to his apartment (“Literally five minutes away,” he says, pulling Yunho along) and Yunho is barely in the door before he’s being handed clothes and a towel. “The bathroom is down that hall,” Jaejoong says, jerking his thumb to the right. “Go take a shower before you get even sicker. And make sure you dry your hair really well,” he adds.
The apartment has three rooms- A kitchen, a bathroom, and a large room between them which seems to be a joint living/dining and bedroom, if the sofa, table and bed are anything to go by. Yunho usually goes to one of the shelters to clean up, but by the time he gets there the hot water is long gone, so it’s his first real shower in a while. The clothes Jaejoong gave him, are a little too big, but they smell like laundry detergent and are free of tears and holes, so Yunho is definitely not going to complain.
“How much do you know about baking?” Jaejoong asks when Yunho reappears.
“Nothing,” Yunho answers honestly.
“Oh, well that’s okay,” Jaejoong says with a wave of his hand. “Junho new nothing as well, and now he’s like the icing mixing king.”
Yunho blinks. “Huh?”
Jaejoong jumps down off the kitchen counter. “I’m kind of short on staff right now. An extra pair of hands to just sweep up or wash dishes would be fantastic.”
Yunho’s jaw drops. “For real?” He squeaks.
“Full time, of course,” Jaejoong informs him. “Monday to Friday. The shop opens at 9, but we all get there at 7:30 to get a head start on the day’s products. You’d start at about 9 too I guess, no point in coming before the mess starts. And then if you leave at five it’s fine, Taemin usually comes by after school to help out. Cute kid, really. Payment can be negotiated, but I’ll give you…25 an hour.”
“And all you want from me is clean up duty?” Yunho confirms. Jaejoong nods.
“Sure.”
~
The bakery is called “Seoul Haven,” but Jaejoong affectionately calls it “The Little Shop of Horrors.” At first Yunho wonders how they could possibly be understaffed when there are so many people running around, but then he sees just how popular the place is.
“We make about a hundred cakes per week,” Jaejoong informs him. “Half of them are the kind you see on those TV Shows- the ones that take three days to make.”
“And three months to eat,” Taecyeon throws in.
Yunho was kind of worried when he walked in with Jaejoong- starting work on the very day he met the man- that the other employees wouldn’t like him, but he was very much wrong about that. They all seemed very glad to have him there, and he could see why. Dishes piled up almost immediately after being washed.
There are 19 of them working in the bakery- including Yunho. Junsu, Junho and the twins Junsu and Junho (“Yes, mad confusing,” Taecyeon sighs), Taecyeon, Woohyun, Nana, Jessica and Jaejoong all make cakes. From the icing to the decorating, each one of them has a hand in it. Hyuna, Ryeowook, Sungmin, Onew and Jia make cookies and cupcakes. Sunny and Suzy man the registers during the day, Minzy and Key take them in the evenings. Well, 20 if you count Taemin- a kid who adores Jaejoong and comes by every day after school to help clean up. Technically this is when Yunho is supposed to go back to Jaejoong’s apartment- which is where he now lives- and rest, but Yunho finds that he likes staying late. These people feel like his family, and in some ways they kind of are.
“Wait, so all of you were homeless?” Yunho gasps, nearly dropping his sponge.
“Except for me,” Key calls from the front.
“Except for him,” Sungmin agrees.
“How- what-”
“Jaejoong oppa was homeless too,” Nana informs him. “The couple who owned this bakery adopted him when he was very small, and after that they opened this place up to other homeless kids who needed jobs. When they died, Jaejoong took over.”
“Pretty much everything you see here is all Jaejoong’s doing,” Ryeowook says proudly. “He’s really accomplished a lot for a twenty year old kid who didn’t even graduate high school.”
Everyone nods their agreement. “He’s an inspiration to us all!” Key cheers, pumping his fist in the air. “Kim Jaejoong, the patron saint of High School Dropouts!”
Yunho bites his lips as everyone else cheers along. Suddenly the door swings open and everyone goes back to work as Jaejoong walks in. “Hey Yunho, can you give me a hand with the flour?” He calls. Yunho jumps over the counter and runs right over. He’s fairly sure he imagines the way Jaejoong’s eyes linger on him for a second too long as they work, just like he’s fairly sure he imagines that Jaejoong always hugs him a little longer than everyone else, the way he smiles a little wider at the things Yunho says and laughs a little differently.
God, his crush so painfully obvious- even Nana has cornered him about it.
“You should talk to him,” she insists. “he doesn’t invite just everyone to live with him you know. He takes a special interest in you, I just know it!”
But Jaejoong is such an amazing person, and he’s surrounded by so many amazing people. How can someone as mediocre as him stand out from the crowd?
~
Yunho puts the last of the cookies out on the dish just as the apartment door opens. “Yunho?” Jaejoong calls.
“Don’t move!” Yunho cries, running over. He throws his hands over Jaejoong’s eyes. “It’s a surprise,” he says by way of explanation, leading Jaejoong over to the table.
“What did you do?” Jaejoong asks, a smile in his voice. Yunho removes his hands and Jaejoong looks down at the plate. “Wow,” he breathes.
“First time I’ve ever baked anything,” Yunho says nervously. “Nana helped me decorate them.”
Jaejoong stays silent and Yunho, thinking he’s disappointed, starts to babble. “I just wanted to do something for you,” he explains. “You’ve done so much for me already, and well…I know like you’re surrounded by this kind of thing all day, maybe it was a little lame-”
“No,” Jaejoong says softly, cutting Yunho off. Yunho’s surprised to see that there are tears in his eyes. “They’re beautiful.”
Yunho blushes. “I wouldn’t go that far,” he says, looking at his feet. “They’re nothing like what you can do.”
Jaejoong shakes his head, puts his arms around Yunho’s waist. “They’re perfect,” he says. “Because they came from you.”

Yunho’s written “Thank You for Saving Me” on all 76 cookies- one for each day he’s known Kim Jaejoong.

Will you marry me? Because right now, you made me deliriously happy!

The story you wrote for my prompt was so lovely, fluffy, cute and adorable I can't find my words right now honestly. Jae as a baker is so hot >/////< And Yunho is a big adorkable sap >/////< I really appreciated how you portrayed Yunho : he was not being pathetic, wallowing in self-pity or something. What you wrote about people's (often cruel) thoughts on young homeless people was also very close to the truth, adding credibility to the story. It would be really fantastic if more people were like this kind-hearted Jae :'>

I particularly loved the ending ; there was something really touching about it, something that makes you go all "awww" and feel warm and fuzzy~

If you want to turn this into a chaptered fic, I (and probably all the YunJae fans on earth) definitely wouldn't mind *whistles innocently* You definitely have the talent to pull it off and make it marvellous >:D Please, never doubt your skills as a writer.

You definitely get bonus point for the additional pairing of Taecyon/Freya XD

I swear, I'm going to print out copies of this thing and tape it everywhere, so I can keep on re-reading it for forever.
The scientific names of body parts was fantastic, especially because I actually tried memorizing all the bones in the human hand once. And the ~English~! I love how Donghae has a for that himself. And snarky Chankyu bickering with each other. Guh. And now I can't stop drooling at the mental image of them doing PG-13 things in lab coats.

Fml, I have a test and 2 labs tomorrow, but I don't even care anymore. *________*

I'll come back later when I'm more coherent and not fangasming to say some stuff about the other one-shots. But for now, I have to go do some chem work (oh gosh, like that's going to go well now).

HAVE I TOLD YOU HOW MUCH I LOVED YOU YET? BECAUSE I LOVE YOU A LOT. SERIOUSLY. <33333
