I will defend you until the very death, even if you are entirely guilty. This is a commitment between the two of us.
"Inmate No. 5978, you have been brought out to court today for your recent attempt in escaping confinement on the premises of Eastern State Penitentiary. Our guards have witnessed your outbreak, so there is no point in trying to deny the situation." The juror paused to give the inmate a retched glance, then continued. "Any last words, Mark Gannet?"
Mark, though his vision was obscured by the dense flax bag tied over his head, stared straight in the direction of the court. "I am not guilty," he simply stated.
This, however, was a lie. Two days ago, on July 21, 2015, he and another inmate, Jackson Hallows, had successfully mapped out their escape route, leading from their cramped chambers, through the musty tunnels winding underneath the prison grounds, and finally, through the vents that lead to the outside world. However, there was one setback.

Hey everyone! This is actually a short story I wrote for my English 2A class, so it might be more symbolic than fanfiction. And yes, I changed their last names so that I wouldn't be offensive in portraying them in this sort of setting. And yeah, I turned in a MarkSon story to my teacher ROFL.
