Fishermen
노래를 가르쳐줘~ Teach me how to sing
"My childhood dream was to become a pilot. But that changed to becoming a celebrity. After becoming a celebrity, I thought about it and I kind of wanted to become a fisherman. However, we rode a boat once and I found out that I get very seasick. So then I thought, “Ah, I should just stick to being a celebrity.”
- Soompi, SHINee Interview
The seas billowed calmly as the creamy blue seas danced around the hull of the ‘Lemon Sherbet’, the blinding sun glistening and shimmering, reflected in the seas of Korea. The dull grey fishermen’s ship laboured into the main fishing areas, its engine humming in a low, squeaky beat.
A slim boy in his late teens climbed out of the tiny flap door by the deck, stretching his cramped limbs gently, groaning as the numbness spread fiercely. His long luscious brown hair was tousled sideways by the salty winds, blocking his sight and making him stagger forwards and trip.
‘Stupid hairstylist.’ He mumbled quietly.
He reached into his large plastic pocket and gave a triumphant grin as he found a bobby pin. He grabbed the entire lock of his fringe and pinned it back, tapping his hair in satisfaction.
He closed his eyes and breathed in the fresh, morning air, just before he began with the daily chores of a trainee fishermen.
It has been a deal with the SMent, after Hello’S farewell stage, the members were able to go wherever and do whatever for a few months – the one after Ring ding dong was his favourite; the one where he had to stay with that crazy pair of girls…
But, this isn’t too bad either.
Taemin pulled on his pink rubber gloves and stepped into his over boots, doing up his yellow raincoat in the process. He carefully fumbled with the box where the fish knives were kept, and he grabbed the sharpest, meanest and the scariest looking jagged knife, stained with the blood of countless dead fishes.
Taemin looked determinedly at the knife and grabbed the mackerel from the under-nets he hid yesterday to practice.
‘Right.’
He stabbed the mackerel. Blood spurted out. He gasped in shock and pulled a sad face.
‘Damn. It’s not meant to go like that.’
He frowned and concentrated. Who did he know who knew how to cook (Or disembowl a mackeral properly)? Key hyung was his instant answer, but he would be busy.... He suddenly brightened as he remembered something. He peeled off his rubber gloves and grabbed his phone from his sweatshirt pockets.
'Hey, Youhee Noona?'
