Twenties
Description
"Every woman in her late 20s goes through a period where she just doesn’t believe love is out there anymore, but it is. And I think the minute you stop looking for it is when it comes for you."
-Kristen Bell
"There’s an ‘Everything must go!’ emotional liquidation feel to the end of your twenties, isn’t there? What will happen if we turn thirty and we’re not ‘ready?’ You don’t feel entirely settled in any aspect of your life, even if you are on paper."
-Sloane Crosley
There always comes a time when people stop believing in those fairytales. For most people, it's when they step foot into their twenties; they start to enjoy living life as an independent adult, while savoring the remaining period of freedom. For others, they stopped believing in fantasy and hope the minute their parents put down that book of gullible words.
Twenties is not a time for righting wrongs, undoing mistakes. Life continues to be a learning process, but much less so. People grow up; people change. Relationships blossom, and they also wilt.
The twenties is a time for childhood nightmares and trauma to fully reveal themselves if they have never been exposed before.
Foreword
Four years in undergrad had usually marked the transition between reckless teenage years and a refreshing decade in one's twenties. For Sophia, she has left behind much of the past, not wanting to remember the scars that he healed and created shortly afterwards. She refused to let the dark memories that he had once soothed resurface, but as the same problems began emerging in her late twenties, Sophia found herself faced with the same dilemma, same sacrifices to make. Once he had returned, after she broke much more than her past with him, she was left in a pile of quicksand.
