Deserted

Description

Jieun was never a normal girl.
Yeah, she looked like one, acted like one, thought like one,

but it seems she has to change everything to get acustomed to herself.

It was a few months ago, exactly two days before Valentine's Day
when she heard her parents bickering. She tilted her head behind the doorjamb.
Her eyes were filled with tears, she was terrified. She's been in these situations before,
but it's different when the fight is between parents and when it's between friends, isn't it?
That evening, her father attacked her mother - her father
had temper issues and this was the first time they got out of control.
Jieun rushed inside to help her mother, who was getting hurt and was, in her oppinion,
the right one in the fight.
"Stop it!"
She pushed her father away, the strenght in her arms was peculiar.
"Don't you dare touch my mother, you freak!"
He was about to punch, yes, punch his daughter. She was brave enough not to move,
in hope it would take longer for him to get to her mother. She put her elbow in front of her face,
she was scared, yes. But she felt nothing.

Empty.

She barely opened her eyes, only to find her father frozen on the spot.
He was trembling wide-eyed.
His daughter's eyes were glowing, she had a neon blue shield on her arm, which was letting electricity buzzing sounds
out of it. Jieun didn't know what to do, to get scared of herself, or to attack him. But she only glared at him.
"Jieun, hold back the fire."
It was her mother who spoke.
"Mama, I don't even know what this is." She whispered to her mother. "I don't know how to do that."
Her mother took her by her shoulder and said, "Relax."
Jieun unclenched her fist, shield disappearing.

Her father reached for the drawer on his right, taking out a gun.
Without Jieun noticing, he shot her mother.
But her mother saw him do that.
It's just that, she loved him so much, she swore to herself never to use this on him.
These powers.
He didn't even know.

But eventually, everything would be revealed - one way or another.

Jieun's father had cameras installed inside the house and everything was caught on tape, so
he revealed everything what happened.

Jieun ran away.

She ran away, teleported herself, in a jungle, hiding herself there, where no one could find her.
On another planet.
Not one person ever found her.

But then a crew of researchers came
and her life changed drastically.

Will she try to give up what she has just to find her happiness
or will she make everyone forget about her for their own happiness?

PROLOGUE

Panting deeply, Jieun turned into a dark corner. Running for nearly an hour, with a stop here and there, she was sweating and running out of energy. If she was lucky enough, she'd run into a familiar place where she knew where to hide - but it was never for long. Tracking dogs, helicopters, police, even military was there right in front of her exactly when she thought she was free.

Jieun was already thin, sick and tired. And just when she finally found a way out of the woods she was in when she didn't know where else to go, she just had to miss out on one camera and get caught. Luckily, it was nighttime and she was in military clothes which she stole from the military grounds, where she also followed soldiers and trained by herself, until one day somebody noticed her and she barely survived because she was shot - by then she knew how to heal people with millitary given supplies, she even had her suplies, so she healed herself.

She opened her bag while still running to get a bottle of water. Not seeing a plank on her way she stumped and fell down, her bottle falling a meter away from her. She immediately got up, not sparing a second either to pick up her bottle and drink more, but not much - she still needed for the rest of the night and this was all she got.

"There she is!" A police officer yelled to others, pointing his stick in Jieun's direction. "Sh*t." Jieun cursed under her breath. Can't I have only one minute of rest? Unfortunately, she couldn't. But to them, it was exactly what she had to do. To rest. In peace. To die. She was supposed, no - needed to be killed, or tortured and she wanted neither. And only because she was Different, as everyone called her, although her name was Jieun. But to them, she wasn't even human, she was a creature, a human-faced monster. What beautiful titles did people give her. She was nothing different from them - she had same needs and wishes. But she also had some things others don't so she had "a bit" tougher problems, such as getting chased, outcasted and getting killed. As if she was worser than a killer.

Losing strength she slowed down, but she then speeded up when the police was 20 meters away from her. She looked back for a few seconds, but then gasped loudly when she almost bumped into a soldier who had a frown on drawn on his face, with his gun pointed in the middle of her forehead. "You animal." He muttered loud enough for her to hear it which made her tear up and her vision was blurry; and she didn't mind for one time that she was practically blind because she just didn't want to see any of them right now, or ever again. "An animal? Huh!" Jieun scoffed at him and she knew he was pissed off. "How dare an animal talk back to someone like me?!" He was about to hit her, but since his voice shocked her, her vision was clear enough to see his movement and she bent down screaming with a voice high enough for everyone who's a mile away from her to hear her. The frequency of her voice was now suffocating to which they couldn't not fall on the ground.

When she opened her eyes and saw no one getting up she ran over them, with some of them grabbing her legs. One soldier managed to even hold her to which deed she jumped up in fear, trembling. And stayed in the air. She her nails into his skin and he shouted, letting go of her leg.

She "stood" there, well, to be exact - she was flying. This was one new thing about her, one of those she still didn't know.

Without questioning how to fly, she just felt with her heart that she wanted to move away from here. Her heart was leading her, giving her the power to fly. It wished to go to a beautiful place, to even create one. She had the power to block anyone from coming, it's just that she still didn't know herself. This was something still new to her, although it's been a few months now.

She flew faster than the speed of light - could be said as teleporting - and she was in an unfamiliar place, abandoned. No, it was not a city. It was a jungle. A jungle she will take care of because it seems that animals there like her. A deer approached her, then a bear out of nowhere, a wolf, a rabbit, monkeys and many other animals which she didn't expect to find in a jungle, but also nowhere near her, nor to find some of them friendly.

It was time to create her own h(e)aven - and hopefully, find out useful things about herself because she felt... it's just that she belonged nowhere, leaving her with an unsettling and empty feeling in her heart.
