It was early morning when Hyukjae was walking down the street, heading for his hair salon. He knew that it was going to be yet another busy day. Even though it wasn’t a popular hair salon, he still had a lot of customers every day. Especially during the warm months of summer it was exhausting to work, but Hyukjae really liked his job. It always made him happy to see how a change of look brought happiness to his customers.
As he arrived at the hair salon, he didn’t immediately enter. Instead, he simply stood on the sidewalk, his hand resting on the door knob. He didn’t know what was expecting him today, but no matter what came up to him, he was ready to tackle it. This applied mostly to a certain someone - Donghae, the guy who had showed up every single day just to see him.
He had given it a lot of thought yesterday, and he truly regretted not having given him a chance. He should at least have given him his number. He knew it was utterly crazy to say, but he kind of liked him. Donghae was indeed very charming and compared to everyone else he knew, he was very light-hearted. For Christ’s sake, he had even cut his hair short just so that he could see him every day. No one had ever done anything as crazy for him. And not to mention his beautiful smile, it was contagious, and Hyukjae couldn’t help but smile too when he did.
However, what if it was too late now? He had rejected Donghae several times. What if he didn’t show up today? What if he had finally given up? Tons of what ifs filled Hyukjae’s head, but he knew that today he would get an answer to all of them. However, he really hoped that Donghae would remain stubborn and come to the hair salon just once more. If he didn’t show up then Hyukjae had no idea how to find him or where to even start looking for him.
Hyukjae shook his head and let out a long sigh. He was thinking way too much about Donghae, who was practically a stranger to him. He didn’t know anything about him, except his name and age, but at the same time it felt as if he had known him for ages. He didn’t know what was wrong with him. Perhaps Donghae’s nonsensical blabber had influenced him and now he was believing in weird things.
Hyukjae finally entered the hair salon and he got everything ready before the first customer would come. He needed to stop thinking about Donghae.
The morning passed rather slowly. There weren’t as many customers as he had expected, but he was glad to have some peace. However, Hyukjae couldn’t deny something - he was thinking about Donghae again. Basically all his thoughts revolved around the brunette. And whenever he recalled all the nonsense he had said, he couldn’t help but smile. Donghae had made him laugh a lot these past days. Also, he had been flustered a lot and Donghae had actually managed to make him blush. He never blushed, ever. He wasn’t sure if that was a good sign, though, but he just accepted it as one.
It was strange, almost utterly pathetic, but every time the doorbell announced a new customer, Hyukjae expected it to be Donghae. He was more focused on that window, hoping to see the brunette walk past it with a smile, than actually paying attention on how he was cutting the customer’s hair. He wouldn’t be surprised if he messed up someone’s hair today. However, it also made him realise how much he actually missed that idiot.
As afternoon came, Hyukjae started to lose his hope. Donghae still hadn’t showed up and he feared that he wouldn’t at all. He was rather distressed.
