It was the summer i turned 18 when i decided to audition for SM entertainment. I had seen an ad on my way to work reading, “Women singer/dancer/rappers needed! Ages 15-25”
I took the flyer off the wall and shoved it into my purse, only because i was too lazy to write down the date, time and address. I only took the flier because it looked interesting, in no way thinking i would get anywhere with it. I love singing and dancing, as i always had since i was little. But i knew how difficult the industry was, especially here in America. I honestly knew nothing about SM entertainment, to be honest i never even heard it of it before. After i got home from work i pulled the flyer out of my purse and shoved it in front of my moms face.
“What is that?” She asked, squinting at the paper. When she got a better look, she let out a breath.
“Oh, Katrinna, aren’t you over that whole singing thing?” She asked, getting up from her spot on the couch.
“I thought i was, but mom, this is an incredible opportunity! Don’t you think i should at least give it a try?” I asked, wanting her guidance.
“Of course you should try. If it’s something that is still important to you, then by all means, go ahead.” She replied, shrugging. I smiled a little and ran to my room. My
family was small, just my mom and i and my little brother, Jack. We had a decent size apartment just outside Los Angeles. If you’re wondering about my father, he
passed away when i was 12. Therefore, my mom and i work. I take some classes at a community college near my house, but it’s nothing too serious. I never really
thought much about what i wanted to do when i graduate, i was always back and forth between a few things. But that doesn’t seem right to me. Isn’t your job supposed to
be something you are really passionate about that you are one hundred percent sure you want to do? I looked down at the flier again, my face blank. Little did i know this
flyer was a start to my very long journey.
