My Imperfect Perfection

Imperfect Perfection

"If you think being perfect is easy, I want you to think again."

-

I am perfect.

Everyone tells me that.

I believe in that.

Angel.

That's what they call me.

Mama used to call me that too.

She called me 'Her Angel Without Wings'

An Imperfect Perfection.

_

"I'm a singer. I'm Chinese. I just turned 24. I started singing since I was 4 and got scouted by an Entertainment Company Staff at age 16. I debuted at 20, released my first album, won netizens' hearts, took home trophies, awards and the likes. I've been living alone since my Mama died. My father...let's not talk about him. That bastard."

The party was on its peak and I'm drowning myself away. Not my worries. Myself. I'm drowning myself away. I feel bad for this man whom I demanded to listen to me. He's from a rich family, I'm sure. Tsk. Stupid spoiled brat telling me he didn't know me when EVERYONE knows me.

"So you're Luhan." Was all he said.

"Angel." I corrected him.

"Angel? Why Angel?" He asked.

"It suits me and they all call me that."

"They?"

"Mhm. My fans."

"My point here is, I'm not your fan, Lu--"

"Angel. I want you to call me Angel."

"I will call you 'Luhan' then." He smiled.

"No. My mom can only call me that."

"Trust issues, I see."

"What--"

"Your eyes. There's a wall seperating you from anybody else. From these people. From me."

I rolled my eyes. "And then what? You'll tell me that you'll break my so-called 'walls'? Hah! Been there, done that."

"No. You'll be the one breaking your own walls, Luhan."

Maybe I could trust him.

He's harmless, right?

And he's a stranger.

We won't be meeting anytime soon, after this, right?

"It isn't easy to be perfect in many eyes, right Lu? Everyone else expects things from you. You give your very best and they will still want more. More of what exactly? More of your imperfections. " The man said.

"But I am perfect."

" I did say that you are."

"I wouldn't have imperfections then!"

" You're still human, Lu. You're Luhan that demands for someone to hear him out. You're Luhan. Not the Angel that they view you to be."

"Is being human my only imperfection?"

"Being depressed, dead or being a ghost are imperfections too. But I'm not talking about perfection or imperfection here. I want to talk about you. The free-spirited you."

"Are you saying that I'm uptight?"

"Maybe."

I frowned. Me opening up to this man wasn't my plan. At all.

"Don't play with me."

"When the time comes, I won't. "

"What are you implying?"

"I read the future, sweetheart."

I frowned. "Stop the petnames before it irritate me."

"You're opening up."

I smirked. "It's just the alchohol. Don't push your luck."

"My bad, then."

"So, what do you do?"

"I'm not supposed to answer 'I'm fine, thank you' right?" He laughed.

I frowned. For the nth time this evening.

"Stop with the jokes."

"See? Uptight."

"You're getting on my nerves." O...kay. That was a lie.

The man raised his hands up in surrender and laughed. "I see you really want to know about me."

I shrugged. Cockiness isn't a good impression.

"I'm..."

"Go on."

"I'm a stranger."

"A beautiful stranger, then?" I asked.

"No. Just a stranger."

"Then you're MY stranger."

"I could. I couldn't be. Who knows?"

"I would know."

"Yeah. You would know, wouldn't you?"

I raised my brow at him. "Yeah."

"Then can you tell if I will remain as a stranger?"

"You'll always be a stranger to me." Heh...Lies.

I saw amusement flash in his eyes.

"If you say so." He said.

Silence came upon us. His eyes, trailing the expanse of my exposed skin.

"You are beautiful." He said.

"It's your lust. But, thank you."

"Next time you attend parties, I would really appreciate you showing up with appropriate clothes. Those are revealing." He said. Pointing at my clothes.

"My manager picked it for me. Why the hell would you care?"

"She's a girl, isn't she?"

"Who? My manager? Yeah."

"She's an envious then. I have a- I mean, the party has a dresscode so why the hell are you wearing too revealing clothes."

"It's formal, anyway." I reasoned.

He sighed. "Angel Luhan may be perfect but Lu Han is vulnerable."

"You DO know me."

"I didn't really say that I don't. "

"Well, you IMPLIED!"

"I didn't imply anything."

"You're making me frustrated. "

"Atleast with me, you know you can take a break."

"From what?"

"From being Perfect Luhan. We've been talking for three hours straight and I've seen glimpses of the hidden you. Cracked your shell already?" He teasingly smiled.

"Why do you care, anyway?"

"Hey! You were the one that clung to me, demanding to listen to you! After the first hour of blabbing nonsense, you realized I didn't know you so you told me your life story."

"So, you care?"

"Maybe I do, maybe I don't. I'm just a stranger anyway. It won't matter for long."

"Do you...uhm...maybe want me to...comfort you? I'm not a comforter. Whatever that may be." Really Luhan? A 'comforter'?

"But you are! You're fluffy! And well, bouncy...?"

"What the hell?" But I bursted out laughing. Yeah, what the hell, Luhan.

"I feel honoured to hear your laugh."

"I always laugh, for your information."

"Those laughs sounded bland. Practiced. Monotonous. "

"And you watch my shows? What a hypocrite!"

"You forgot that I was supposed to be a stranger. I don't matter."

"Fishing for compliments, are we?"

"If it's you complimenting me, then I won't waste this opportunity. "

"But you're a stranger, after all." I smiled teasingly.

"Maybe. But not for long."

"How--"

"I read the future, sunshine."

"I told you to stop with the petnames, didn't I?"

"Maybe."

"Damn you."

"Angel Lu, swears? That's surprising." He grinned.

"Oh. You grin? That's creepy."

"I'm creepy for you."

"PEDO!"

"You're older than me."

Wait. What? "Really?" I asked.

"I just turned 21 this April."

"We have the same birth month then."

"So, are you going to be cheesy like all those girls in those sappy movies?"

"Ugh, no. Don't even mention it."

We both laughed.

He looked at his watch then glanced at me.

"You know, time is always perfect. Perfect for good and bad things. Life is perfect. Perfect for hardships and rewards that come with it. Fate is perfect. Perfect for tears and laughter." He said.

"And we're what? Perfect for each other? Good news, then! That's sarcasm, okay?"

"Noted. Anyway, I won't be taking much of your time after this."

"Go on." I said.

"Humans are also perfect. We are perfect because we are ourselves. You are perfect because you are you. Remeber that." He smiled and left the small table, ending our long talk.

Goodbye stranger. I guess this is goodbye.

Not.

Because the morning after, a parcel was delivered to my address. Heh. Inside was a medium-sized Angel Wings Keychain and a ripped piece of paper.

On it, in a scribbly handwriting read:

Lu Han, [My Imperfect Perfection]

My name's Oh Sehun and I don't intend to stay as a stranger. Dinner tonight at 6. Can't say No. Wear comfy clothes.

P.S. The dresscode for my party is written at the very front of the invitation. Your manager is either blind or a . I choose the latter.

P.P.S. You have wings now. But I'll have to cage you in my arms first. :p It's not always about being perfect. It's about contentment  and being complete.

Love,

Your Stranger
