I never thought how much Wendy affected me.

And I never really cared about whatever happened because she was always there for me, for everyone. And it was amazing, she was the greatest.

But that was just the calm before the storm.

She lost herself in a blind fit of sadness when she left.

I still remember the pain shining bright in her eyes.

I still remember the crack tone in her sweet voice.

It hurts me to think about her, about us, about back then and about how she might be right now.

Because she made me feel like I was important and something special.

But now.
I feel like I had nothing when I had almost everything I could've ever wanted.

Wendy's words continue to ring and echo in my ears for an eternity.

And no matter what I do.
I can't forget about her.

 

“Joohyun-ah...”

I heard a familiar voice calling me from the corridor.

“Joohyun-ah,”

It was calling me again.

Joohyun?
When was the last time someone has called me by my real name?

“Irene, I'm back!”

So familiar that I could cry at the moment.

Her voice was next to me.

I shifted to the right side of the bed and stared up.

I wasn't wrong.
Of course I wasn't wrong.

It was Wendy.

Of course, that bright cheery voice belonged to no one but Wendy.

I got up from the bed and let myself fall into her embrace.

Those arms that always felt like a safe haven.
I miss it.

That soothing fragrance of hers that always made my world feel alright.
I miss it.

The day she left me suddenly doesn't matter anymore.

How she left me in sadness for a long time doesn't matter anymore.

Because I survived.
I survived two years without her.

And now she's back.

“Welcome home, Wendy.”

“Yeah, I'm finally at home.”

“Will you stay for good this time?”

“I'll never leave you again, I promise.”

My darling with the precious heart.

Rest here a little while longer with me.
Let me run my fingers in your long hair.

I'm so glad that together, we are free.

You gave me a connection to share.

I had once thought I would leave you forever gone, and I would be unforgiven.

You said that I simply didn't believe, but you had never stopped being driven.

Feeling your skin now as it is bare.

I can see the scars I have left on you.
Yet they're worn with pride and without scare.

You loved me more than I ever knew.

Rest here with me.
Let me soak you into my warm, sweet scent you burrow.

Run your fingertips along my chin, wipe away my brow's furrow.

Even after I left you at the driveway, my love for you still remained.

I had been so foolish.
So selfish before.

I feared you'd think that I would never take you again.

I feared you'd never let me in again.

But I ran scared and hopeful to your door, our door.

A smile and a kiss bound us together.

Forgiven once more.
I would hold you forever.

As you said we'd survive this stormy weather.

Our tie, our love is something we can never sever.

Now darling.
Stand and take my hand.

Dance and sway with me until the end.

Look at our matching shimmering band.

Into a new happy life, together we ascend.

 

“Won't you ask why I left you?” I broke the silence that engulfed us at the backyard.

“It doesn't matter,” Irene inhaled the soft breeze, then she broke into a smile.

“It doesn't matter,” She repeated. “We're together now.”

“Aren't you curious at all?”

“I am, but it'll only make me sad,” She gently took my hand in hers, swaying it back and forth. I really miss her child side. “For now let's watch the stars just like we always do every night, okay?”

“As you wish, darling.” I flashed her a smile as we rested on the freshly-cut grass, admiring the countless stars in the night sky.
