((Major character death))

8:45

The cold wind was merciless to the male who was limping against the cool wall, the winds stinging the multiple scratches on his face.

Just a few minutes earlier the male was fighting for his life, for his family lives.

It was worth it in the end, it was worth damaging his body this badly because he killed all of them.

A small victorious laugh escaped his lips.

Pushing himself off the wall, he began jogging before full out running.

There was not time to waste, he had to hurry on home and reassure everyone he was okay.

Huffing, his lung burning as he kept picking up his pace, he has to go faster.

Safety is the promise his mind whispers as he kept pushing himself.

Home, Jimin, Yoongi, his mind sings, he wraps his right arm over his stomach, the pain becoming just a bit bearable.

Warmth, Jungkook, his mind teases, he find feel the corner of his lips lift up in a small smile.

Taehyung can do this.

His eyes close briefly, the wind whipping his hair into a rats nest.

Just a few more blocks.

It’ll all be over after this, every one that stood in their way of finding a peaceful life is dead and gone.

They don’t have to be looking over their shoulders in fear of someone coming after them anymore.

Jungkook and him could finally settle down like wanted to for a few months now, he thought with heated cheeks.

The giddiness and warmth that spread throughout his body caused him to chuckle, he could finally get to the plans he’s wanted to do for a while.

Rounding the corner, he passes by the convenience store he frequents at all times of the day though he wouldn’t be able to go in there now.

Later, he promises as he runs in the familiar dingy alley, a short cut to home.

So close.

The sound of footsteps reaches his ears too late; his body was pierced with the blood red rinkaku kagune.

Taehyung glances down at his body as the thing was removed; a hole was placed where his stomach should be.

“Oh…” He says a bit dumbfounded, almost disbelieving.

About to fall on his knees, he was suddenly caught by the tentacle of one of the four kagunes; he knows who they belong to.

Squeezing his eyes shut, he curses his luck.

He thought Jungkook and Namjoon had taken care of her, but apparently not.

His body was suddenly thrown into the air like nothing, he arms flail as if something would appear in thin air he could grab onto.

“, , .” He screams before his body was again assaulted by those damn kagunes.

He was thrown against the concrete wall, all the air left him in a whoosh.

How he was even alive was any one’s guest.

His body twitched as he felt cool hands come in contact on his legs.

“I saw what your boyfriend did to my lover.” She purred the thick venom in her voice caused him to wince.

Fingers trail up to his thighs.

“And I thought I should return the favour.” She snarled before digging her nails into his flesh.

A blood curl scream could be heard into the night.

It was only just the beginning of a torturous ten minutes for the brunette.

Revenge is something that could never satisfy anyone who lost a significant other.

A cold shiver ran down Jimin’s back.

He had an impending sense of dread as the clock kept ticking away with no signs of his best friend showing up yet.

Which wasn’t so abnormal, most of the time Taehyung was extremely late.

Though that didn’t ease the uncomfortable feeling in his chest, he rubs his face in irritation.

Why couldn’t he at least call? To make it known that he was fine.

Soft fingers gently pet his hair, the owner of those fingers trying their best to soothe him. “He’s fine, he’s with Jungkook and Namjoon as well as Hoseok.” Jin murmurs.

Jimin looks up at his boyfriend through his lashes a small weary smile on his lips.

“I know I know he’s with people who could keep him safe, better than we can.” He could feel daggers thrown at him from across the room. “But I would feel better if he had come with us.” Jimin says looking down again.

Jin sat beside him, wrapping an arm around Jimin’s waist.

“Just be patient. Before you know it he’s going to barge through the front door or window.” This causes Jimin to chuckle. “And you’ll feel silly to be so worried.”

“You’ll even cause him to worry after he sees your face.” Jimin pouts before lightly slapping Jin in mock offense.

Jimin lets out a small sigh. “I guess you’re right.”

Though he said this, it doesn’t drive away the awful feeling that something is wrong.

That it felt like he just lost his other half.

10:37

Jimin began pacing around their small hide out, his fingers were tangled in his honey coloured hair.

Twisting and pulling out of anxiety.

“If he isn’t here soon, I’m going to go out and look for him.” He mutters mostly to himself.

We are going to go out and look for him.” The emphasis on we was clear from the male who was looking out the window for any signs of the brunette.

Jimin nods before glancing at his boyfriend who just nods affirming he’ll go with them.

Biting on his lower lip, he continues his pacing.

Glancing at the red haired male from time to time, he could tell how tense on edge he was.

Yoongi was always better at keeping in calm on the outside even if he was freaking out on the inside.

The fact that Yoongi was even worried caused Jimin to pick up his pacing; it was never a good sign when the older showed visible signs of distress.

About to open his mouth to tell they have to go now and search for his stupid best friend, the back door slammed open.

Not even hesitating, Jimin dashed towards to the back of the house, his heart beat quickening.

He had to see with his eyes that Taehyung was okay and breathing.

“Tae! Where the he-“He stops midsentence when he see no signs of Taehyung.

His raking over all of them just to make double sure, but there really was no Tae.

While he is immensely happy to see the other three to be alive and breathing, his best friend isn’t there among them.

He felt his mouth go dry, his body freezes as it clicked into place.

Jungkook looks at Jimin in surprise. “Taehyung? What…” Jungkook trails off his mind going completely blank, the roar of blood filling his ears.

Oh no.

They both knew how much Taehyung likes to play hero, for both their sakes.

For all of them.

Hoseok looks at Jungkook before looking at Jimin in confusion. “Tae isn’t here? He said…he was going back to find you.”

Jimin left before Hoseok could even finish his sentence, he ran as fast as he could to the other side of the house.

“Yoongi, he isn’t with them!” He nearly screams his eyes burn with unshed tears.

He passes Jin, who was trying to grab at him, and runs out the door not bothering to wait for any of them.

“Go drive and look around the neighborhood, he has to be here somewhere.” Jimin shouts over his shoulder, he picks his pace up.

Where are you, he screams in his head.

He could feel his body begin to shake, , .

Why was he so stupid, he should have known to keep a tight leash on Taehyung today.

Letting out a frustrated sound, he makes his way to every single place Tae could have gone.

Knowing Taehyung, he could have been distracted by a kitten or he may have gotten hungry and went to the convenience store.

Jimin eyes lit up at the thought; if he isn’t there then he should be somewhere close.

If he isn’t….well Jimin doesn’t want to think about that now.

As fast as his feet and legs could carry him, he ran to the convenience store without stopping for a break to catch his breath.

Opening the door without thought, he accidentally bumped into a poor innocent girl.

“I-I’m sorry.” He stutters he mentally smacks his forehead; he needs to watch where he was going.

The girl stares at him for a few seconds before offering a small smile. “It’s fine.” She says before leaving.

Jimin sighs how embarrassing and rude of himself.

Blinking against the sudden harsh lighting of the store, he looks around with slightly squinted eyes.

Unable to tell if Taehyung was here, he goes through each and every aisle, his heart sinking as he sees no one but strangers.

Gnawing on the inside of his cheek, he takes his phone out of his pocket and speed dials Tae’s number.

Unsure whether or not the other’s phone was charged, pretty much why he hadn’t bother doing this earlier, he still hopes against all odds to get a hold of him.

It rings, his hands begin sweating, and he dares to hope Taehyung would pick up.

But it just keeps ringing, ringing and keeps ringing until it goes to voicemail.

Letting out the breath he didn’t even know he was holding.

Jimin grabs bottle water out of obligation before making his way to the counter.

“Will that be all?” The cashier asks, Jimin nods pulling out his wallet.

He hesitates before pulling out two dollar bills along with Taehyung’s photo, who insisted it be placed there just in case Jimin missed him.

Never had he been glad that the other kept persisting.

Though he grimaces at said photo, it was Taehyung with puffed up cheeks and crossed eye, his fingers in a peace sign over his right eye.

“Have you seen this guy? Did he by chance come in here?” Jimin asks as he lifts the photo to the cashier face.

Said cashier study the photo before shaking his head.

“No, I would remember a face like his if he did.”

Jimin nods, already figuring this would be the result.

He grabs the bottle and leaves as quickly as he could, not bothering to wait for change.

Jimin glances down at his phone again before redialing Taehyung’s number, the poor bottle in his left hand being squeezed hard.

“C’mon, pick up Tae…please.” He whispers, but he ends with the same result as the first time.

Not giving up, he presses redial again and begins walking.

He suddenly stops when he hears his custom ring tone on Taehyung’s phone coming from the alley way.

Jimin stills, his breathing picking up, why would Tae be there?

Slowly as he could, he walked towards the sound, the feeling of dread coming back tenfold.

He knew, he just knew he wouldn’t like what he saw once he got there, so he took his time.

The smell of trash hitting his nose causes him to wrinkle his nose in disgust.

With quiet footsteps, he kept walking deeper into the alley. “Taehyung?” He calls out softly, sounding lost.

The ringing stops, as Jimin presses redial again, he doesn’t see the arm sticking out and trips over.

Cursing as he gets up, he grimaces because his body feels sticky with some sort of liquid.

“What the hell?” He grumbles and looks down at his arms, his face pales.

Blood? Why is there blood on the road…?

Jimin looks down beside him before quickly looking away, his mind turns blank.

His eyes squeezes shut, a whimper leaves pass his lips.

This can’t be happening, this isn’t reality, please, please don’t let this be reality, Jimin begs.

There was no sound coming from his left, his stomach churned uneasily.

He stands there for the longest time, refusing to accept what was, more like whose right beside him lying down, unmoving.

Just this morning the other had his wrapped around his and Jungkook’s shoulders and causing havoc on the elders’.

Just a few hours earlier he was lively, shaking with nerves, but now…

in a shaky breath, he gets down on his knees and faces cruel reality as he comes face to face with the lifeless, colorless face of Taehyung.

Tears slowly cover his cheeks as he notice the male’s eyes were open looking towards the sky with his mouth slightly parted.

He reaches out with shaking hands to caress Tae’s cheeks, flinching with how cold the male’s skin was.

“Taehyung…” Jimin croaks, his vision blurry from the never ending tears.

“Wake up, Tae…this isn’t funny TaeTae…say something!” He screams at the lifeless body.

The body of the boy who was filled with so much life, now just lying there still as a stone in his own blood, the boy who filled Jimin’s life with colour.

He suddenly he grabs at the stiff shoulders of Taehyung’s and began shaking the body.

“This isn’t a joke! Talk to me, you can’t be dead!” Jimin cries out though the only response he got in return is silence and Taehyung’s head lolled back.

Jimin wraps his arms around the body and hugs it for dear life.

“This can’t be happening, why did they took you, you of all people!?” He sobs, burying his face on Taehyung’s neck.

“You weren’t supposed to d-die, you weren’t su-supposed to leave me b-behind! You promised you would live until we were eighty and gross, you promised you i-idiot!”

“But you had to play hero…” Jimin chokes out, his hold tightening on the stiff body, shaking his head in denial.

Denial on the fact that his best friend, his brother is dead, what kind cruel joke is the world playing on him.

Taking away one of the two most important people in his life, what had Taehyung do to deserve to die in such a disgusting, filthy place like this!?

Through all of this, his phone began ringing.

Reaching out blindly for his phone, he hadn’t realized he dropped it, and succeeding, he answers it without looking at the screen.

“Jimin, where are you? Any luck on finding him?” Yoongi’s raspy voice comes from the other line.

“I’m at the alley way…by the conveince store..” Jimin says though it doesn’t sound like himself, his voice sounds so far away.

“You didn’t an-“

Jimin hangs up, unable to answer any questions and drops his phone without care.

It felt as if time stopped as he knelt there with Taehyung in his arms.

He pulls back just a bit and looks down at the other’s face.

Taehyung’s face was bruised, bloodied and a few long gashes on his cheeks.

Jimin lets out a pitiful whimper as he thought about the kind of torture his best friend had to endure before leaving this earth.

With carefulness, he reaches and gently closes Tae’s eyes.

“I’m sorry…” He whispers.

Sorry for not being able to protect him, sorry for not being able to save him for the cruel torture he had to face.

Sorry for failing, for being a ing failure and not being able to protect him like Jimin promised him he would do.

I ing failed you, Taehyung…I’m so sorry.

Failure, failure, failure, failure.

In the distant, he could hear the screech of tires stopping just a few feet away from him, but he pays no mind to the noise.

It wasn’t until someone began shaking his shoulder that he comes back to reality.

That the world begins moving again.

“min! Jimin, Jimin snap out of it.” Jin voice hits his ears like warm, protective blanket.

Jimin slowly looks up; his puffy red eyes meet Jin’s watery eyes.

In the background he could hear a large commotion happening, trash cans being thrown and kicked.

Shouts could be heard too.

A sickening crunch came not a few seconds later.

Jin’s lips part, his lower lip tremble, he wants to say something, but no sound comes out.

Jimin just stares up at him before looking back down at Taehyung, tears begin to flow again.

There were no words that could be said to comfort him, so they both stay silent except for the occasional sniff.

Yoongi comes beside him a few minutes later.

The older takes in the sight of his two little ones.

One of them is holding the other one.

One of them is dead.

Yoongi reaches out and Taehyung’s matted bloodied hair.

He looks over the boy’s body, his heart squeezing painfully once he sees the whole where his stomach is supposed to be.

“It looks like he suffered…” His voice hoarse and wet, he blinks a couple of times to stop the tears from coming.

He needs to be strong; he has to be Jimin’s rock.

“How long..?” Asks the small, fragile voice.

Yoongi shifts his eyes away from the bloodied mess.

“About 17 to 20 minutes…”

The rest is a blur, it takes some time to convince Jimin they have to leave and take Taehyung’s body home.

When they both try to remove Taehyung from Jimin’s arms, he lashed out, snarling that no one touches him, but Jimin.

Jimin doesn’t remember getting up, but he does remember walking to the car with Taehyung in his arms, though the male was covered with Yoongi’s jacket.

He remembers seeing Hoseok and Namjoon.

And coming face to face with Jungkook, who was held back by the two of them.

The boy’s eyes were blood red the white in his eyes now black, he looks ready to kill.

Jimin felt anger and hatred towards the ghoul because if it weren’t for the two of them dating, Jimin wouldn’t be carrying the dead body of Taehyung.

But it left as fast as it came, because as much as Jimin wanted to blame everything on the younger, he knew it was wrong.

Taehyung knew the consequences of dating Jeon Jungkook, but it doesn’t mean Jimin would be able to speak or even look at Jungkook without feeling some resentment.

He heard the way Jungkook’s breathing hitched, but he kept on walking unable to stop because if he does, he knows he’d fall apart again.

They make it home in silence, Taehyung was placed in his own bed with Jimin’s upper body laid on the free space on the bed and his lower half left kneeling.

His fingers were intertwined with Taehyung’s cold, stiff ones.

He doesn’t hear the door creak open, but he does feel the bed dip.

Jimin knows it was Jungkook, but he refuses to acknowledge him, opting instead to stare at the wall.

But what he doesn’t expect is a strong arm to wrap around his waist.

“C’mon Jimin.” Is all he heard from Yoongi before he was lifted up, but he doesn’t protest at being manhandled.

Before they left the room, they hear a soft “I’m so sorry” and then the door is shut closed, leaving Jungkook alone.

Life moves on, the months come and go, the seasons change.

They slowly move on, but they never forgot the boy with the rectangular smile.

The boy who brightened all their lives.
