Tears

It Was So Sudden

~Start~

It happened all too fast for any of them to comprehend. One minute he was there hugging them out of nowhere or taking Hajin’s bike and leaving them behind to deal with Shilba and then the next moment you turn around and he’s standing in the middle of the street with blood coming down the side of his face and BAM, he’s gone.

All Kyungjong could think of is why he didn’t run out there to save him, save him before that truck came. Then he would be alive right now…

“Great~” Kyungjong sighed as he whipped at the tears that began to fall down his face once more. He thought he was done for the night, but every time his friend popped into his head he couldn’t help the ache that filled his heart. His vision became blurry; he felt as though he was looking through a glass window where the rain was pouring heavily upon making everything on the other side abstract and hardly recognizable.

He reached over the edge of his bed and quickly snatched up his phone, all the while wiping at the tears. To him it was a never ending water fall; he just couldn’t get them to stop. His fingers moved on their own as they typed in a number that was hard for him to recognize with the tears and he put it to his ear. The ringing seemed to only last seconds as someone on the other side quickly said ‘hello’. Kyungjong’s eyes went slightly wide as he recognized the voice as Hajin. He couldn’t help but smile through the tears and wondering why it was always Hajin he called when he needed a shoulder to cry on; but he didn’t want to be a bother. Not right now when everyone is grieving in their own way. His smile faded and a look of pain crossed his features.

“Hello? Kyungjong, are you there?” The voice bounced around his skull and he let out a weird chocked cry into the receiver. He felt himself curl up in a small ball on his bed with the phone still to his ear. He wanted to say something; to let his friend know that he’s okay and that he doesn’t know why he called him. Maybe get him to ignore the whole thing and he could just hang up and crawl under his blanket to cry himself asleep. But that didn’t happen, the only sounds that left his lips were incoherent and sad cries.

“Don’t worry, I’m on my way!” Kyungjong squeezed his eyes shut as the phone disconnected and he uncaringly let it slip from his fingers onto the bed beside him.

He felt so tired, so drained of energy that he was grateful it was night time and he could just lay in bed; he didn’t even want to get up to let Hajin in when he gets here. His eyes started to grow heavy as he didn’t even want to move his hands to wipe the tears away before they pool in his ear. This was just too hard, all basic skills seemed too difficult for his brain to comprehend. He doesn’t even understand why he is still breathing. Soon he just couldn’t do it any longer, couldn’t keep his eyes open.

“Look! It’s Byunghee!” That was his voice and this is his body, but to him everything felt different. He didn't feel in control, like he was frozen in place forced to just watch, even his voice seemed to be tied down as his eyes focused on Byunghee standing in the middle of the street with the blood still painting his face and his usual sharp eyes now droopy and unfocused.

This was it, this is when he was supposed to race out there and wrap his arm around his friends waist and shoulder him to the curb where they could call an ambulance and get him help.

But no.

He was stuck. He tried to move his legs, to get himself to take action. That didn’t work, so he tried crying out to the ones beside him, to tell them they need to go save him before the truck comes by and takes him so early. That though, didn’t work. He looked over to the guys to see them standing in place; their eyes wide.

He could feel helplessness wash over him as he turned his head back to Byunghee. Here it comes; it’s always in slow motion. He sees the truck as it approaches and his heart aches to run, to move. Then it hits Byunghee; smashes right into him. Kyungjong’s mouth opens to scream, but no words escape.

“Kyungjong!” The smaller’s eyes snap open and he is greeted by strong brown eyes, “I came as fast as I could! Are you okay?” The words flew out like bullets, but none of them pierced Kyungjong as he slowly sat up, rubbing at his sleep ridden eyes that slightly burned from the tears.

“I-I…”

“It’s okay, you don’t have to talk.” Hajin interjected wrapping an arm around the smaller’s shoulders.

Kyungjong did just that, instead of speaking he just rested his head on Hajin’s shoulder and allowed the other to softly rub small circles along the top of his arm.

“Here how bout’ this,” Hajin stated as he abruptly stood, Kyungjong looked up at him with tired eyes, “Get under the covers, I’m going to turn off the lights.”

Still a little out of it from his nap Kyungjong could only manage to nod his head and crawl under his blanket. The room went dark and all he could hear as he closed his eyes once more was the soft thumps of Hajin moving to the bed. The blanket was quickly lifted and the other boy slid under the covers only to then wrap his arm around Kyungjong and pull him into his chest. If this was any other day Kyungjong would have blushed like crazy and turned around and lightly slapped his friend, but no right now he needed this. He needed to feel another person’s touch to let him know that he is still grounded.

“Much better, right?” Kyungjong could feel the vibrations in Hajin’s torso as he spoke and the others hot breathe against his neck; this was comforting to him and he could already feel himself calm down. Well at least he didn’t feel like crying anymore.

They laid there in silence for what felt like hours. Hajin just ran his fingers through Kyungjong’s hair and sang a soft song that put the smaller’s heart at ease. This was much better then falling asleep and having that nightmare again. He didn’t want to repeat his friend’s death over and over and so he laid into Hajin’s touch and kept his eyes focused on the wall in front of him that his bed was pressed against.

“Than-thank you.” Kyungjong’s voice was dry and raspy from when he was crying, but Hajin had heard him as clear as day.

“You don’t have to thank me,” He started and moved his hand down to wrap around Kyungjong’s waist, pulling him flush against him, “I love you and I’m going to always be there for you, so next time you cry call me and don’t apologize for doing so.” Hajin’s voice cracked as he was suddenly hit by a wave a sadness. Everything from Byunghee dying to see the one he cares for crying piled on top of one another and weighed down on his heart.

“I-I love you too.” Kyungjong didn’t want to let Hajin know that the tears had come back, so he turned his head so that the wet drops landed onto his pillow.

“Don’t worry, will get through this.” Hajin said as he placed a kiss onto the back of Kyungjong’s head, “It’s not the end of the world, so let’s pull through this together.”

Kyungjong nodded his head; he couldn’t find the right words to say and so he opted for the safest option. His body grew heavy and he could feel his brain slowly shutting down, telling him he needs to sleep. The soft, warm breaths of Hajin against the back of his head wasn’t helping either. Everything his friend was doing was not helping, it was all too comforting.

“Go-good night, Kyungjong.” Hajin whispered, his voice tired.

“Night Hajin.” He responded, squeezing the other’s arm that was still around his stomach.

Not too long after that he succumbed to sleep himself, but this time there was no nightmare. This dream was filled with love and hope and Byunghee as he was before all of this happened. They were all together and making music together and even in his dream he couldn’t help but look towards Hajin and smile as a warm feeling filled his chest.

His friend was right, this isn’t the end and they will get through this together and everything will be okay in the end. Sure they will always miss their friend Byunghee, but he will be looking down on them with that goofy smile telling them that they are going to be the greatest rock band one day.

~The End~

A/N: Ahh~~ So as you can tell I recently got into the KDrama Shut Up Flower Boy Band and had to write this one shot, because I have watched the first 4 episodes like 3 times already and all I could think about was how I think Hajin would be there to comfort their little cutie Kyungjong! So I hope you all like it! There isn’t a lot of fanfiction for this drama!!!
