“Is there anyone you want to be with right now?”-That thought again.

I blinked my eyes surprisingly from the random thought my head produced again. Why does that phrase kept on repeating itself in my head. Even at the most random moments it will just pop. I grunted when I heard my mom knocking on my door at this time of the day.

“Are you awake?” she asked and I just looked at her in the eyes wide open.

“No, I’m asleep. Isn’t it obvious?” I chuckled at her question and she laughed back at me.

“Silly. I just wanted to ask if you’re ready to leave.” I looked at my room, surrounded by boxes and bags, reality hitting me that my mom’s face won’t be waking me up anytime soon again.

“Yep.” I just smiled at her.

“Don’t worry, key is going to be near you so if you need assistance, he’ll take care of you.”

“I don’t even know him. So why would I even bother a stranger?”

“He’s not a stranger, he’s your-” Then she suddenly stopped and looked away from my eyes.

“What mom?” I asked her but she didn’t speak up. “Ya, umma?”

“He’s your... err.. He’s your friend too because his parents are our friends.” She said then stood up. “Better take a bath already, you have to leave soon.” Then she walked out of my bedroom.

I was left puzzled with her analogy. Who would’ve thought my parents will have a friend that has an idol as their son. I dismissed the thought immediately and rummaged through the remaining stuff I haven’t packed yet. I looked around my small room, feeling a little sad because I have to leave this little haven and start my own life in the capital. I sighed and thought of the brighter tomorrow awaiting for me instead.
