  • YOUNHA

---

Younha and her mom were eating dinner when. .

“Ma, matagal ko ng pinag-iisipan ‘to.  Uh, pwede bang pumunta ng Korea, Ma? Tutuparin ko yung pangarap ko doon. Pagagandahin ko yung buhay natin, Ma.” (“Ma, I’ve been thinking this for a long time. Uhh, can I go to Korea, Ma? I’ll pursue my dream there. I’ll make our lives better, Ma.”) Younha said.

Her mom suddenly got confused and somehow irritated.

“Bakit, ‘Nak? Hindi ba sapat na nakakakain ka ng tatlong beses sa isang araw? Hindi ko ba natutustusan yung mga pangangailangan at luho mo? Huh?!” (“Why? Isn’t it enough for you that you can eat three times a day? Is it that I cannot give what you need and luxuries? Huh?!”)

“Hindi yoon ang ibig sabihin ko, Ma. Gusto kong maging Korean idol. Hindi ko sinabing hindi mo ako nasusuportahan, Ma.” (That’s not what I meant, Ma. I want to be a Korean idol. I didn’t told you that you can’t support me.”) Younha replied.

“Hindi pupwede, Anak.” (I’m not letting you.”)

“Ma, pangarap ko to. Masa—“ (Ma, this is my dream! Is it ba--) Younha was interrupted when her mom bangs the plate and shouts at her, “Pag sinabi kong hindi, HINDI!” (When I say no, it means NO!”)

Tears fell off Younha’s eyes as she runs to her room. She bangs the door and drown herself in the sheets. Thoughts abruptly clouded her mind. She got her diary and wrote there about what she’s feeling or just words that she wanted to shout out.

“Pooh, (the name of her diary) How can I meet Taemin now? And. . I really want to be a Korean artist. All the time that I had been practicing was all for nothing 3 How come? WAEEEEEEEEEE? =.= T^T”

She cried and wrote until she fell asleep. Her head was laying on her diary with the coloured pen still on her hand. It was past 11 in the evening, silence was the only thing you can hear inside their house. Younha’s mom felt guilty about what she did, after their supper, her chest got heavy for being so hard on Younha. Deep inside she didn’t allow her daughter to go because she would just miss her. She would just long for his daughter’s presence. For hours, she has been thinking.

She went to her daughter’s room to check up on her. She opened the door and she saw Younha’s head resting on a small notebook. She went near her and read what is written on the notebook. The things written there crushed her. Her heart pounded faster as her tears fall down from her eyes. After reading her entry, she decided to give her a chance.

--

Morning came and Younha woke up from tired eyes. She said a little prayer and fixed her bed.

She saw a luggage and hand bags on the corner of her room. She rubbed her eyes to check if it was just a mirage of what she wanted to happen. But then. . It’s not. . IT’S REAL.

She got confused and scared thinking that maybe her mom wanted to kick her out of the house. Scared of the idea, she hurriedly went to check the luggage and the hand bags. To her surprise it was her things, passport, visa and pocket money. She saw a sticky note saying, “Okay, Younha. Go and pursue your dreams, I’ll be here to support you. I’m really sorry about what happened. Promise me to take care of yourself and to look for your father.     -Mom ♥”

As read these words written, tears of joy fell from her eyes. Her mom came in and without looking at her, she hugged her as tight as she could.

“Thank you, Ma. I love you.”

“Ligo ka na, Anak. Hatid na kita sa airport.” (Take a bath now, Younha. I’ll accompany you to the airport.) Her mom said.

Everything came out perfectly. Younha left Philippines and arrived at Korea with a promise to herself that she’ll pursue her dreams, meet Taemin and a promise to her mom that she’ll find her father.
