The Pins and Needles Effect
Description
Chanhee has always cared about Byunghun. No, more than just cared. He loved him. He loved him so much that he would sacrifice everything to keep it a secret forever. One cold winter's morning Byunghun calls Chanhee out to ask him a question. It's a question which holds an answer that Chanhee doesn't want to give. It's a question that could change everything.

Byunghun and I stepped out of the comfort of the warm and toasty building and into the chilly harsh wrath of Winter. I clutched my hot take away coffee tighter and Byunghun led me to the edge of the balcony. We rested our elbows on the ice cold railing and took a most needed first sip. The coffee scorched my throat, making me choke and release a puff of smog into the air.
“So what was it that you wanted to me about? Couldn’t we talk inside? It’s absolutely freezing out here. I think my fingers are going to fall off soon.”
I pulled my scarf tighter around my neck as I waited for an answer. But I was only greeted by silence. Peering over at Byunghun, he looked rather deep in thought. Taking another sip of the coffee, I chose to break the silence.
“Is it really that private that you can’t tell me in front of the others?” I turned to face him as he turned to face me.
“Chanhee ah. I consider you my closest friend, you that right? So I wanted to ask you something, but I don’t know how to put it exactly.”
“Wow! This seems really serious,” I thought to myself.
“You can tell me anything. It’ll strictly be between you and me. So relax a little.” I playfully punched his left arm. The slightly awkward silence from before returned, but this time it was Byunghun who decided to break the silence.
“How do you tell someone you love them?”
I suddenly froze, paralysed. Whether it was because of the freezing weather or because it was my body’s own natural reflex, I wasn’t sure. Byunghun's question sent tension surging through my body as I felt my world shatter into a million tiny fragments.
