The gentle tap of the ceramic mug against the wood table top pierced through the quiet atmosphere of the quaint cafe. A soft sigh escaped a pair of pink lips as the man slid into his seat, his brown eyes turned and peered out the window while small snowflakes began to fall. With the dropping temperatures outside fog started to grow like a vignette against the panes of glass around the cafe. Shifting his eyes back to his warm drink before him, he relaxed into the comfy chairs just before he pulled out his favorite book that he wanted to catch up on. through the pages, he found his bookmark while his eyes slowly moved with the black words printed on the slightly off white pages.

Turning the pages slowly, the soft music played overhead while the man sipped his warm drink occasionally, letting his mind get lost in the book. Jingling bells from the front door caught his attention, lifting his eyes quickly he noticed a woman walking through the glass door. Bundled up in a jacket with a scarf around her neck, she slipped her hands back around her book while her cute mittens folded over the spine of the book. The squeaking of her wet shoes against the clean tile held the man’s attention, watching the woman make her way to the counter, his book slightly dropped until it rested against the wood top of the table.

With a bow of her head, she handed over some money before she turned around and scanned the cafe deciding where to sit. Finding a table that was cozy yet secluded, she pulled her snow covered backpack around to the front of her as she ped it slowly, careful not to cause too much noise. Pulling out a black book from her bag, she shifted her bag next to her as the man tilted his head cutely at the girl. Squinting his eyes slightly, he tried to read the name of the book that was imprinted on the spine of the binding.

Her fingers pulled the book open to her place as her drink was delivered to her. Handing over a slight tip to the worker, her white teeth shined as the man felt his heart flutter a little.

"Thank you" You bowed to the worker that delivered your warm drink. lowering your eyes to your book, you slid back into the seat while your hand cradled the book lovingly.

One of your hands wrapped around the white mug while your other held the book so your eyes could dance with the words on the page. Page after page, you managed to reach a new chapter. Sliding the book from your hands, you lifted your eyes to find a strange man gazing at you from the other side of the cafe. Raising one of your hands, you gently waved to him as an embarrassed smile instantly formed on his face. Lifting his hand slightly, his eyes ducked down to his book as his nervous hands clutched the black covered book and brought it over his eyes.

A shy smile formed on your face as your white teeth gently bit down on your pink lips. Lifting the mug up to your lips, you watched the man from afar as you caught him peeking over the top of his book a few times. Shifting your attention back to your book, you began the next chapter while your eyes occasionally wondered over to the strange man that you caught red handed.

Some time passed as you finished your warm beverage and yet another chapter. Flipping another page over, you were getting close to the end as you heard some distant footsteps against the tile floor.

"Eh-hem" A shy voice cooed next to you. Quickly reading to the end of the sentence, you looked over at the person standing next to your table. 

"A-Ah I just wanted to ask… what book a-are you r-r-reading?" The shy man from across the cafe inquired.

Naming off your favorite book, you showed him the binding before he bit his lip and lifted one of his hands showing you his copy of the same book.

"Are you reading that book?" You questioned as the man smiled and nodded his head lightly "How do you like it so far"

"It is so good, I am really enjoying it. W-What about you?" Nervousness was present in his voice while he shifted his weight from one foot to the other.

"I love this book so much, I have actually lost count at how many times I have read it" You confessed as your eyes glanced down at the slightly worn corners and the thin pages.

"Aigoo, that is a lot of times" He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand as his thumb tapped against the hard cover of the book.

"I just can’t get enough of it" You nodded as you started to feel an awkwardness start to grow between the two of you. Silence began to fill the conversation, as you pulled your mug over and glanced in the cup noticing the little bit of liquid at the bottom.

Noticing a small pout form on your lips, the man carefully tried to choose his words as his pink tongue ran over his thin lips.

"Can I buy you another?" He questioned causing your eyes to instantly lift to his.

"Oh you don’t have to" You shook your head, your hair hitting your cheeks lightly with each shake. "I should be going anyways…"

"The storm is getting a little worse, do you think you could stay for one more cup? We could talk about the book if you would like" The man’s words began to speed by as you could hear a hint of desperation lining his words.

"Y-You want to talk about the book with me?" You questioned pointing to yourself, a soft nod of his head told all as you couldn’t help but feel your heart warm slightly.

"Sure, that would be great" You nodded your head agreeing to his offer.

"What drink would you like?" The man questioned as he set his book down across the table from you.

Naming off your favorite drink, he nodded and shuffled to the front counter, ordering two more drinks, he paid for both before returning to your table with a mug in each hand.

"Here you are~" He sang with a smile pulling on his lips as he sat across from you.

"Thank you" You smiled softly looking down at the cup while your hands wrapped around the warm beverage. "Oh, here you are" You pulled out some money to cover the drink he bought you as he just waved his hand slightly.

"No thank you, this drink was on me" He blushed a little as you looked at him a little unsure.

"Are you sure?" You questioned slowly retracting your hand

"I’m sure" The man nodded while his thumb brushed over the finish on the mug. "I’m Sunggyu by the way, what is your name?"

”______” You introduced yourself as you shook his hand from across the table.

Digging right into the book, the two of you talked and laughed about your different takes on the book. With the once full mugs becoming almost empty, the two of you enjoyed each others company as the storm started to let up outside leaving a fresh blanket of snow across the city. 

"Excuse me a moment" You inquired as Sunggyu nodded his head gently, standing up from your seat you headed into the back of the cafe as Sunggyu waited a little moment before he pulled your copy of the book over towards him.

Pulling out a napkin, he wrote his name and number on it and a cute message before slipping it between your marked pages. Pushing the book back over in it’s place, he waited a few minutes before you came back out and scooped up your backpack as you slid your book back into your backpack.

"Thank you for the second drink and for talking with me Sunggyu, this has been a really fun afternoon" You told him as he stood up and pulled his coat over his shoulders.

"You are welcome, thank you for keeping me company too, I enjoyed this afternoon as well" He smiled as the two of you walked out of the cafe together, with Sunggyu holding the door for you, the snowflakes fell around you while the chilled air nipped at your warm skin.

"I hope to see you around" Sunggyu told you as he had to go the opposite way that he saw you walking.

"O-Okay… well thanks for the drink once again" You told him as he nodded with a genuine smile pulling on his lipa.

"You are very welcome, we will have to do this again sometime" Sunggyu offered

"Definitely!" You smiled excited before you waved to him and turned around as you walked in the freshly laid snow.

Sunggyu watched you walk into the distance as he smiled and slipped his hands into his pockets hoping that you would see the note inside of your book and contact him. Taking in a deep breath, he closed his eyes for a second before he opened them and watched his warm breath turn into a white cloud in front of his lips.

Later that night, all cozy and warm in your apartment, you trotted over to your couch as you lifted up your book and turned to the page that you had left off at in the cafe. Opening the pages, you had a napkin fall into your lap.

"What is this?" You questioned to yourself as you picked it up and looked over the name, number and little note, a bright smile pulled your pink lips. Noticing your broad smile, you carefully bit your lip trying to hide it as your hand held your phone wondering what you should do.

Typing in the number into a new message, you carefully worded your message to him before you sent it. Once it sent, you felt your heart race inside your chest, lifting your hand up and placing it over your heart you couldn’t help but think about the characters in the book and how the two of you might have a chance at a happily ever after.
