Chapter 1

My Life Basically

Hi. I go by Yasmine, or if you’re close to me, Yassie. I was originally born in America, but I’ve been living my life, moving till my parents found the right place to stay, Seoul, South Korea. It’s been a week, and I’m still suffering, trying to fit into society. Why? I gotten these ‘powers’ since I was born, giving me the ability to lightning, or thunder.  I packed my book bag up, and slung it over my shoulder as I dashed down the stairs, wait, I meant falling. Next thing that I knew, I was on the ground, my book bag on my head. I sigh. I was used to this, being clumsy. That’s my nature, and why everyone avoids me. They hate a person who is shy, but also clumsy and can mess up any moment. I stood up, brushing my bruised knees and slowly put my Dr. Martens on, wincing at the pain that was left from the large tumble. My mom poked her head out of the kitchen.

“You going?” She asked me, concern in her voice. I looked over at her and nodded, slipping on the other Dr. Martian on my bare foot. “You should be careful with the stairs. I told you that it was slippery.” Did I mention that I was also forgetful? I am. I tend to forget things, unless it’s homework and projects. I picked up my keys and my bag as I walked out of the door, hearing a goodbye from my mom. I walked carefully, looking around myself. I see that people were avoiding me. Again. As I walked to school, which is a good ten to fifteen minutes to walk to, I noticed that there was a bunch of screaming by the gates. I sighed once again. EXO must be there.

‘Who and what is EXO?’ A lot of people would ask, if they weren’t from this school. EXO is the most popular group in our little school. They were known for their good looks, talents and coolness to capture everyone’s heart. Thank Kami-sama that they don’t know about me. I tried to sneak my way around the screaming girls, and get into school as soon as possible. I groaned as I was squished between many girls and I felt extremely uncomfortable. As I escaped, I dusted my skirt off, and walked off, not noticing someone watching my every move.  I felt someone’s eyes on me and I looked at a male who was looking at me. His lips curved into a smile once our eyes met. the corners of his lips, turned upwards and his eyes twinkled at me. I gave a small smile back, and I watch him smile wider. How can he smile that much? I silently asked myself, looking at the male, and turning away, and entering the school building. I sighed once again as I saw that there was the complicated hallways that I still get lost in. I looked at the rows of lockers, and finally smiling as I saw my locker. 8… I turned the lock towards the little dash. 30… I ce again, sighing as the screaming got closer to the hallway. And finally 4. I smiled as the lock clicked and unlocked. I quickly pushed my lunch and grabbed my textbooks that I never bothered to even bring home due to my laziness. I pushed the books into my bag, gritting my teeth as they barely fit into it, my bag is going to burst soon, so I took a textbook out and carried it in my arms, and locking my locker. I looked behind where the screaming was occurring. I saw that same male again and he looked at me, smiling at me, and started to walk towards me. I started to panic. No. I will not let this man interfere with my life. I started to speed walk towards my homeroom, where I assumed that it would be safe. I let out a sigh of relief as I entered the room. What I didn’t expect was that the man also had the same homeroom as I did and I felt the panic rush over me as he walked towards me. I didn’t know what to do at all. He smiled once again, sitting in the chair in front of me. He looked at me and said,

“Hey.” I looked at him with surprise, expecting him to bash me with every word that he could find. I looked away, focusing on my bag, and fishing for my phone. As I pulled it out, it was snatched away from that man. “Hey~ Talk to me~” He whined out, holding my phone in his hands. I looked at him, bewildered.

“.... Can I have my phone back? I need to text my mom.” I said bluntly, trying to offend him. I don’t want to get in these types of situations to be honest. He was annoying me, and I just needed to get away. Please Kami-sama. Let me be alone…. I looked at the annoying male who looked at me. He pouted and gave my phone back to me. I grabbed it, and gave the male a little zap from my tiny fingers, smirking as he yelped, and looked at me with surprise.

“You….” He said, looking at me. I looked back at him, raising my eyebrow. He looked at me with knowing eyes. “Have the same powers as me…” He said, looking at me with an ‘I’m not joking face’. I felt my eyes widen. Really? Someone who is just like me? I asked myself, not believing this male, who is a part of the popular group. I turned and ignored him, staring outside into the sky that started to rain. My eyes flashed a lavender color as I made lightning form and thunder boomed through the sky. I looked at the bell, praying that homeroom would be over and I can leave for my first period class. As the bell rung, I dashed for the door, leaving behind the male who claimed that he had the same powers as me.
