An elevator runs empty inside a building turning fast to rubble. It stops on deserted floors, opening its doors to silence before continuing on its path down the line.

This elevator, it stares; a lone being watching over the termites that have made their homes beneath the floorboards. They create a dull humming that can be heard echoing down the hallways, but no longer is it wood they're leading to decay.

With blinded eyes and deaf ears they feast on the stories left behind to the world, the heartache found forgotten alongside the dust. While some souls have come to rest, others have instead become lost in the cycle of eternity, screaming out their passions to the unlistening ears of God, or Satan, or whomever.

The elevator, it stops on the first floor. Waiting for it is a young man, his eyes unfocused and searching, but finding only remnants of ghosts in the wake of his sorrows. He doesn't know how he got to the place where he stands, doesn't know how to escape.
