Chapter Forty-One

I Hate You Not

CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

Both Jackson and Mark knew that it was Namjoon who released their pictures with Soojung to their classmates. They didn’t understand why he would do that when they all know that their school doesn’t really have a great relationship with hers, so it wouldn't be surprising that the students would be shock after seeing them. So far nobody has been pestering them about it, but they’re sure it’s the opposite with Soojung.

They have planned to ask Namjoon why he did that, so as soon the first school bell rang, indicating that the first period has finished, Jackson and Mark stood up at their classroom’s door to wait for him to arrive. Soon after, they see him approaching their classroom, looking tier than usual. His hair was a mess, his uniform was a mess and his expression was a mess.

“Holy , man. What happened to you?” Jackson asks, letting him pass inside the room instead of their initial plan of talking to him on the corridor. “Who did this to you?”

“You’re dearest friend.” Namjoon smiles sarcastically before putting his head down at his desk to rest.

“You did this?!” Surprised, Jackson looks at Mark.

“What the , man? I’ve been here with you ever since you arrived this morning. How can I do that to him?” Mark frowns, smacking his best friend on his head who just apologizes to him.

“Not him, you idiot. I meant Jung Soojung.” Namjoon mumbles, “Apparently, everybody back in Imperium Academy already saw the pictures.”

He wasn’t facing them, but they know that he was smirking by the way he said that. Mark and Jackson exchanges look. They were about to ask him why he sent the pictures to people when the teacher enters their room and asks everyone to sit down on their places.

Never has Jongin seen someone eat so angrily. Across the table from him was Soojung, munching on her fries like there was no tomorrow. She had finished her burger two minutes after they got their order and before Jongin could start his. He looks down at his burger that he has slightly bitten, and then back to her. Reluctantly, he offers it to her and she accepts it by nodding.

“I can’t believe Namjoon. I can’t believe I defended him from you. I can’t believe I trusted him. I can’t believe that I was such an idiot.” She frowns. “I hope he steps on a poop when he gets back home!”

Thankfully, there weren’t much people at McDonalds at that time of the day so she could rant without anyone complains about the noisiness. There were an elderly couple, three nurses and the rest were the workers of the restaurant. Though they did stare at them at first for being there. They wearing uniforms and it was pretty obvious that they should be at school that time. That, and they were also wearing one of the country’s most known school uniforms.

“I hate the fact that I had a lot of fun with him. What a ing .” Soojung sighs.

“It must have been relieving to beat him up, huh?” He asks her, grabbing a napkin from the tray to wipe something off from her cheeks. “Don’t eat too fast. You’ll have a stomach ache later.”

Just when she was about to answer him, she feels her phone vibrate so she puts the burger down. When she did, Jongin grabs it to take a bite and even though she saw him, she doesn’t complain and just lets him. To her surprise, it was Jackson calling her.

“What do I do?”

Jongin shrugs, but stood up to go to the bathroom anyways to give her space and let her speak to him freely. She was still debating if she better accept the call and in the end she did.

“Hello-”

“Soojung! Oh my god! How are you?” Jackson screams but then immediately changes his way of speaking by whispering, “, I just screamed again.”

“Why are you whipering?”

“Well, I excused myself to go to the bathroom but I just wanted to talk to you- Wait a minute! Shouldn’t you been in class right now?”

“It… doesn’t matter where I am.”

“Oh… Well, I just wanted to know how you are.” He says quietly. “I’m very sorry for what happened. It’s understandable if you don’t want to see us anymore, but Mark and I didn’t know that this was going to happen. Youngji as well. I wish we could have done something to prevent this from happening.”

Hearing how concerned Jackson sounded over the phone, Soojung couldn’t help but to smile and get teary eyed again. At least somebody from their school doesn’t think the same as Namjoon. Her moment was ruined however when Jongin casually passes her a sundae, making her look up to see him with his own.

How long can Soojung endure the whispers and insults everybody at school has been throwing at her?

Her answer: not long.

Honestly, she didn’t even know that her patience was really short. She thought she could endure all of it until school ends, but she was wrong. In the middle of lunch, she just loses it. Even when they were eating, they still continued, and to make it worse, they drag her family and friends into it. When Chanyeol saw her standing up, he puts his hand on her shoulder to stop her on whatever she was going to do, but the girl was quick to remove it. She moves everything that was on the centre of their table so that she could stand on it.

“Okay, listen up you motherers,” She starts off, grabbing everyone’s attention. They all looked shocked, dropping their utensils and choking on their drinks, as it was their first time hearing her curse. “I’ve had enough. Enough of this bull. It’s ridiculous. You can all call me names, but don’t you mention my family or my friends. Leave my brother, my sister and my parents out from all this .”

Her friends who were sitting at the same table as her just exchanged looks. They were all surprised as well, not expecting her to do that. “S-Soojung, please calm down-”

“Shut the up, Sehun. They have to hear what I’m going to say.” She shushes him. “Yes, the rumors are true. I am a . I did go out and party with Kim Namjoon and some of his classmates. You all call me pathetic for that? Well guess what, you all are the ridiculous ones, you all and those kids. Are you really going to hate each other for a damn sport? Fight each other? Insult each other? It’s just a ing stupid game, you all have to chill!”

Strangely enough, Jongin was the only who looked very chill about Soojung calling out everyone. Usually he’s the one who gets stressed out by whatever she does, but he was just sipping his juice with a straw while his fiancé continued with her rant. Jinri nudges him to do something, but he just shrugs.

“Do you really hate them because of football, or because they are poorer than us? Aren’t you all just putting football as a reason because you can’t admit that you all have a superiority complex? That you're all jealous of them? You people can’t admit the fact that they, who can’t afford much as us, are better than us! That’s why you hate them!”

Some classmates look down. It was kind of ridiculous to hate them because of a sport.

She continues, “And why the am I being called a or a ? I’ve never touched those boys! Let alone sleep with them! And for ’s sake, I’m engaged! I’ve never slept with anyone and I’ve only made out with Jongin but that’s it- , I shouldn’t have said that.” Jongin chokes then spits out his drink at Sehun, who still has his mouth hanging because of Soojung.

“Anyways, back to the point, I regret being friends with Namjoon but it’s not because of your opinions. I still think that you all aren’t better than him either. It’s so stupid of me to actually have become to be his friend, I admit that, but it's also stupid for me to actually thought of you all as good people.”

And with that, she finishes her rant. Of course, she doesn’t stay there with her schoolmates and just exists the cafeteria, leaving them with silence and their mouths still wide open.

“So…” Jongin looks around them. “That’s the girl that I’m going to marry.”

heart.gif

“I’ve ed it up. I’ve ed everything up!” Soojung shouts as soon as she sees her friends enter the rooftop where she has been hiding. Thank God Taeyong wasn’t there because she still doesn’t want to see him around. “I didn’t really want to do that! It’s just came out because I was mad! Why didn’t you all stop me?”

“But we did!” Sehun (who has changed his shirt) and Chanyeol shouts at the same time.

“Oh honey, come here.” Jinri pulls her into a hug. “It’s alright. School’s ending soon anyways. Once graduation comes, everybody will forget about what happen.”

“Everybody will think that I’m a meanie.” She mumbles.

“Didn’t I tell you not to care about others’ opinion?” Jongin speaks up. “And besides, you are a meanie so…”

“Am I really?” Soojung looks up to ask Jinri, pouting.

“Don’t listen to him. You are not.” She pats her head.

“The headmaster won’t call me up to his office, right? Suddenly bursting out of anger isn’t really bad, right?”

“Oh, he will. Prepare yourself to be called at the end of the day.”

“Jongin! Stop teasing her!” Jinri tells him.

“Why are you always mean to me when there are people around?” Soojung dramatically asks, and turns to their friends. “He’s usually very sweet when we’re alone!”

“Trust me, we’re not really surprised.” Sehun assures her, causing both Chanyeol and Jinri to giggle.

“Do you want to know what he told Namjoon?” She asks them, laughing cheekily as she was reminded of what he said. Jongin immediately panics. He knows that they already know his feelings, but he still gets embarrassed when he talks about it in front of them. “He said that he’s-”

To prevent her from continuing and embarrassing him, Jongin grabs her by the waist and threatens to drop her off the railings if she doesn’t shut up. Soojung wasn’t really in the mood to die that day, so she was freaking out, screaming at his ear and clinging onto his neck, making him a lot more annoyed.

“Stop screaming in my ear!”

“I am not screaming!”

“Yes, you ing are, Jung Soojung!”

“Well no , Jongin! You’re like, about to kill me off- Oh my god! , I’m sorry. I’m sorry, okay! Please, put me down.”

“I won’t!”

“Is this what love looks like?” Chanyeol and Jinri hears Sehun asks.

“This is their way of showing their love.” Jinri answers. “Beautiful, isn’t it?”

After her rant, nobody has dared to insult Soojung when she’s around or even on her back. In fact, nobody’s talking about her, at school at least. Nobody dares to look nor talk with her as everybody has become scared of her, except for her childhood friends of course. Apart from them, everybody is avoiding having an eye contact with her.

She thought that it was a lot better than the insults, though she low-key wished that everyone would greet her happily just like before. Jongin offered to walk her to each of her classes after that. She told him not to, saying that nobody’s going to hurt her anyways. But her fiancée insisted, so in the end their schoolmates always see them together, with Jongin carrying her books.

But there was a day when Jongin (and basically, his other teammates as well) was excused by his coach to skip their classes for the whole day since their finals were coming up. Soojung had no choice but to head to their English class without him. There she sees Seulgi, being the early bird that she is, alone. However when she arrived, Seulgi got tense and didn’t know what to do.

“Don’t tell me that you’re going to act like everybody else.” Soojung says sadly when she sits at the table just behind her. “Please don’t act like I don’t exist.”

“I’m just… very surprised.” Seulgi mumbles. “I never thought you would do that. You never told me anything about… them.”

“You know, Jongin prohibited me to become friends with you at first. We both know how it turned out. Please, prove him wrong this time.”When some of their classmates started entering the classroom, she started to speak lower so they can’t hear their conversation. “Ever since I met you, I knew that you were different. I thought that, out of all the students here, you would be the one who would treat Ehra High students with less hate, since you want to be the president and all that. I thought you were the kind of person to help the less fortunate-”

With a shocked expression on her face, Seulgi suddenly turned around to her, catching her off guard. “Oh my god, you’re right. I’m going to be the president in the future. I should treat the less fortunate ones with lots of love! If not, who will vote me?” She then grabs Soojung’s shoulders, “Shall we make a charity event for the students of Ehra High?”

“Wait, what?” Blinking innocently, she had no idea what Seulgi was talking about. That wasn’t what she meant.

“If I’m not nice to them, they won’t vote for me in 20 years, right? It’s not too late for me to change my image. I have to do this.” Seulgi dramatically presses the bridge of her nose as Soojung watched her confusedly. “You’re really the best Soojung. Thank you for telling me that.”

“Uhm, you’re welcome?”

It was that time of the year again. The time when Imperium Academy’s football team work their asses two times harder than usually than before aka the day before the finals of the league. Ever since Jongin has started playing in the team, he has always played in all of them. But to him, that year’s finals were the most important one.

No, it wasn’t just because of Soojung, though she does play a huge part on that. He wants to show off in front of her so she could be very proud of him. He has always been jealous of Chanyeol who has Jinri screaming his name in every match that they have. He doesn’t want to ask that to Soojung, mainly because even if he does she wouldn’t be doing it anyways. Plus he always tells her the cheers don’t really affect him, but it would be nice to see her like that.

It wasn’t just important to him, but to Mino, Taehyun, Chanyeol and Jinwoo as well as it’s going to be their last game and it’s their last finals for their beloved school. They’re all still very surprised by how fast time passed by and it seemed just like yesterday when they were still playing with their other seniors. And now it’s their turn to pass their football boots to their juniors.

It’s weird, Jongin thought. He couldn’t help but to imagine how the things will turn out if Taeyong was still part of the team. He would be still there if only their foolishness didn’t get to them last year.

Gathered in a circle, Jinwoo gives the team his second to last motivational speech, the last one being the one that he’s going to give tomorrow at the finals just before it starts. Some of the younger players were already emotional, making the seniors feel uneasy.

“Hey, you can’t cry right now! Cry tomorrow when we win! If we don’t, we’re going to kill you all!” Taehyun warns the juniors who were sniffing. But he laughs after saying it anyways.

“Don’t mind him. He’s just kidding.” Mino whispers to them.

“Honestly, it doesn’t matter if we don’t win,” Jinwoo suddenly says, earning the attention of everyone. He usually doesn’t say as he has been the type of captain to always want to win so it surprises his teammates. “What matter the most is that we have fun together for the last time in the field tomorrow. And for us to end the game without anyone getting injured-”

“Aye, stop being so cheesy. We have to win tomorrow.” Jongin cuts him off, but he just shook his head. “We’re against Ehra, man. We have to kill it tomorrow.”

“No, seriously. Listen to me.” He orders, and everybody looks at him. “Somebody said that maybe the hate that we’re feeling towards them isn’t really hate and that maybe we’re just jealous of how talented they are, when we get foreign people to help us improve when they get no one special and yet they beat us last year.”

Jongin hears Taehyun intentionally cough as everybody knew he was talking about Soojung, but he choose to ignore him.

“And maybe it’s true. I’ll admit it. I am kind of jealous.” The captain bites his lips, “But you know what? Tomorrow we’ll show them our talents. We won’t play dirty. We won’t play rough. We’ll just have fun with the ball, with everyone. If we don’t win, it’s alright. I want everyone to forget about the rivalry with them and just play with their hearts out. It has been a pleasure to play with you all for the past nine months and I would love to end the year happily together with all of you-”

Jinwoo had to stop as someone has started to wail his eyes out. But this time, it wasn’t a junior crying but Chanyeol. Jongin was standing right next to him but couldn’t do anything to make him stop. “I’m sorry, I’m just- I just- I don’t want to stop playing football with you guys.”

“Then play for your university then.” Mino suggests.

“No, I mean with you guys.” Chanyeol sniffs, his snot coming out a little bit, causing Jongin to move a little further. “I’m sorry captain, please continue.”

“To end this, I want to remind you that even though, we the seniors, will graduate soon, that doesn’t mean that we won’t watch you from afar.” He smiles at the younger players. “This year has been pleasant. I'm very grateful that I had teammates like you kids.”

The next day, wearing the white and yellow matching t-shirts to support the team, the senior students went to Ehra High where the final was going to be played at by bus. When they arrived at the venue, they see their football team just getting down from their own bus. Jinri quickly runs over to Chanyeol to make sure he’s alright and to make him a little less nervous, but of course she doesn’t leave her best friend behind. She pulls Soojung beside her so that they could go to the boys together.

Unfortunately for Soojung, it seems like her best friends has forgotten about her as soon as she saw Chanyeol.

“Don’t forget to stretch before entering the field, okay?”

“Yes, I know. I know.”

“And don’t get hurt, I swear to God if one of those idiots even dare to touch I will-”

To make his girlfriend stop worrying, Chanyeol kisses Jinri in front of the judging eyes of his teammates and Soojung, who just rolls her eyes unlike the boys who were making teasing sounds. Jongin was the last one to get out of the bus as he slept inside and nobody woke him up. Some of the boys were already walking towards the school when he was walking out of the bus when saw his fiancé with her hands on her hips, judging their two friends.

“Oh, Soojung!” Jongin called her, causing her to turn around.

“Jongin? I thought that you were already heading inside.” She says, approaching him as he got down of the bus. “How are you feeling? Are you nervous?”

“Me? Nervous? Psh, I never get nervous.” Except for the times whenever she’s around. Yeah, never. “I mean, sure it’s my last game, but I’m not feeling nervous at all. I’m feeling ecstatic actually.”

She smiles at his confidence, “Well, that’s great. I believe you and your teammates could win the game.” Before leaving him to go with Sehun and Jinri, she pats his cheeks and wishes him good luck, though Jongin stops her from moving almost after she does that.

But he doesn’t say anything when she looks at him. Instead he squirms and wiggles his body just like a kid asking for a candy from an adult. Soojung had no absolute idea on what he meant so she had to ask what he wants.

“Did you not see Jinri and Chanyeol kissing?” He asks her.

“I'm pretty sure everybody saw them. What’s your point?”

“Are you not going to give me anything?”

“Uhm, no? Not really? Do you want anything? I don’t have any money with me right now but if you want food-”

The boy then sighs, dramatically pressing the bridge of his nose. “Oh, I don’t know, maybe a good luck kiss from my fiancé? That would be fantastic.”

Finally understanding what he meant before, Soojung chuckles. “You have to win the game first. I don’t kiss losers.”

“Alright, if that’s how you want it. I could even give you the trophy if you want.” He smirks confidently, approaching her closer. “I’m even gonna make Kim Namjoon cry today. He and his team-”

“Hey, Kim Jongin stop flirting and get your here!” Jinwoo shouts from Ehra’s entrance in front of his team, gesturing him to come.

“Okay, I’m on my way!” He shouts back as he jogged to their direction.

“Don’t get hurt, okay?!” He hears Soojung shout from behind him and it automatically makes him smile. “Good luck!”

“You little s better work extra hard. I gotta win the trophy today.” Jongin tells his teammates who gave him a look after seeing him very close with his fiancée.

When Sehun, Jinri and Soojung looked for the nearest seat available, Luhan and Junmyeon were already there, reserving a seat for the three. While Sehun and Jinri were teasing Junmyeon for coming as he never really goes to those kind of things, Soojung was annoying Luhan in her own way.

“Does Yoona unnie even know that you’re here?”

“Yes, Soojung. Now could you please stop interrogating me? You’re acting as if you’re some kind of detective.”

“Hmm, is that so?” Not contented by his answer, she pulls out her phone from her pocket. “Shall I call her then-”

“Okay, okay. She doesn’t know that I’m here. She thinks that I’m on my way to my class.” He finally admits, snatching her phone when she was listening to him. “But she doesn’t have to know right? If you do tell her, I’m going to throw this-”

“Okay, fine.” Soojung sighs, promising that she won’t tell his wife, though she probably would if she sees her. Once her phone was returned, she quickly hides it from Luhan.

“Are you two going to the after-party later? It's for the senior players.”Sehun’s head pops out between Luhan and Junmyeon.

“Probably not. I still have to go to my classes later after this.” Luhan answers, and then looks at Soojung. “Plus this kid wouldn’t let me go anyways.”

“Hey, that’s not true! It’s not that I don’t want you around! I just don’t want you to lie to Yoona unnie!”

“How about you Junmyeon hyung?”

“I can’t. I also have to attend my classes.” Junmyeon informs them, causing his younger friends to groan.

“You and Luhan oppa never hangs out with us anymore!” Jinri pouts. “I can forgive Tao and Kris, but you two literally live here in Seoul and yet we only see you two like, once a month or something.”

“These high school kids think it’s so easy to just chill and hang out when you’re in college.” Luhan shook his head as Junmyeon laughed beside him.

“Don’t worry. Summer’s coming up soon anyways. We’ll all meet a lot soon.” Junmyeon assures them. “Tao and Kris are coming back soon. I think they’ll be here when you graduate.”

The three high school students exchange looks. Finally, they will all be complete again.

Just before the game starts, the players of Imperim Academy have started to line up at Ehra High’s tunnel while they do their own game rituals. Jongin was tying his shoe when he Namjoon passes by to talk to his own teammates. He notices that he was still wearing his tracksuit, unlike his other teammates who were already wearing their own uniforms.

“Hey, Kim Namjoon.” He calls him, approaching the line that divided his school to theirs. “You’re not playing?”

Turning around, Namjoon’s happy expression from talking to his friends changed as soon as he faced his direction. “Obviously not. Apparently, I am not fit to play today.”

“Listen, mate…” Jongin whispers, glancing around them. “I know I’ve done some things, and it provoked you to do such things but Soojung’s a lovely girl, and I bet that you didn’t really do those things because you think she’s a . I’m going to apologize to you if you do too to Soojung. She was really hurt by your words-”

“Ha, what are we? Are we in elementary? I ing won’t.” Namjoon laughs, shaking his head. He then turns to where Jongin’s teammates were, mainly to Jinwoo’s direction. “What the is wrong with you all? Why are you all being so quiet, eh?”

Jinwoo just gestures Jongin to go back to their line, ignoring Namjoon’s words, making the latter pissed. Just before he starts a fight though, their coach passes by the tunnel, ordering him to come out to the bleachers already as the game was about to start.

heart.gif

When the announcer informed that the game was about to start, all eyes were at the tunnel where they players are gonna come out. Soojung spots Namjoon coming out first, but instead of going straight to the field, he sat right next to his coach together with some other players who seemed like they’re not going to play. She wondered why, but at least there won’t be anyone annoying Jongin while he’s playing.

The players of Ehra High came out first. She immediately sees Jackson and Mark who were standing right next to each other. She flashes them a quick smile and they do the same thing. At least her relationship with those two is still good after the drama that she had with their captain.

Their players followed shortly after, and the cheers that came from her schoolmates have become louder. Even her friends cheered along, with Jinri shouting the loudest. Jongin was the last in line. When he got out, he quickly searches for Soojung and when he did saw her, he throws her a wink. Soojung rolls her eyes but laughs anyways.

It came to the part when the players of each team had to shake each other’s hand. Jongin was lowkey glad that Namjoon wasn’t going to play because he sincerely doesn’t know if he would shake his hand. Probably not, but he doesn’t care anymore. His turn on shaking Jackson’s hand comes and even though he wasn’t the last one in his line, they took quite a long time to finish their handshake as they had a little conversation.

“Are we cool man?” Jackson whispers.

“If you’re cool with Soojung, then I’m cool with you.” He replies and Jackson smiles.

“I guess we’re cool then.”

heart.gif

“Hey, that was a foul!” Soojung shouts, making both of her schoolmates and the students of their rivalry school look at her in shock. Months ago when she first attended a football match between the two schools, she was very much confused on what’s happening but that day, she was the loudest. “Mark Tuan, if you touch Jongin again, I won’t treat you dumplings ever again!”

“Sorry! Just doing my job!” Mark just puts up a peace sign, bowing apologetically at Jongin who has now fallen at the grass because of him.

Back in the field, the players are still in frenzy after the foul that Mark committed to Jongin, who was still in the rolling in the grass, daydreaming about the fact that Soojung just ‘defended’ him from her friend in front of everyone. It was interrupted however by Jinwoo…

“Did you hear what Soojung said?” Jongin gushes, declining his help to stand up.

“And did you hear what I said? I said, go and take the penalty.”

Upon hearing what his captain orders, he immediately stood up. “Me? Why me? I thought Taehyun wanted to take it.”

“Yeah but,”Jinwoo looks at him, smirking. “Taehyun doesn’t have a girl around to impress, doesn’t he?”

Amazed and speechless, Sehun, Junmyeon, Jinri and Luhan just watched Soojung basically lose her and hang herself at the railings. She wasn’t like this usually and even Jinri had no idea what happened to her. Perhaps maybe it’s because she doesn’t care about her reputation anymore since everybody knows the real her now? Maybe her secrets getting exposed weren’t really bad afterall…

“So when did you become an expert on football?” Luhan asked when she sat down right next to her best friend, putting her head into her lap so she could rest.

“Last night. Sehun and I played Fifa the whole night and he thought me things.” She answers, fanning herself because of the heat. “I even beat him at our last game.”

“Aye, you didn’t have to say that. You just got lucky.” Sehun shook his disappointment and then turns his head to Luhan to whisper, “She’s far from being an expert-”

Just before she was about to defend herself, the crowd roars into an uproar, causing her and her friends to get shocked. Jinri even forgot about the fact that she was laying on her lap and went to the railings to get a better view of the scene. There she sees that the whole team has either hugging Jongin or were celebrating.

“Wait, what the happened?” She asked, confused.

“Jongin just scored a goal, but you missed it.” Junmyeon replies.

“You four did as well!” She fires back, but her friends were too happy to pay attention to her, so she turns her attention to where theirs was – back at the match. When she did, she and Jongin exchanged glances, with him winking at her again and this time, it makes her cheeks turn red, but no one notices.

heart.gif

“What did I miss?”

“Jongin scored another goal. It was magnificent.”

With a bag of popsicles that were meant for his friends, Junmyeon comes back, regretting that he has even left the match when his friends advised to buy the popsicles before on the 15-minute break. He thought that it wouldn’t take him so long, but he stand corrected.

Despite their eyes on the game, everyone still thanked him for buying them and grabbed one from the bag. Sehun had to get one for Soojung, as she was too busy shouting as if she was the coach of the team. He even had to peal the wrapper for her, and he had to stick it in .

“Thanks, Se- Oh my god, did you see that? They almost scored a goal! Damn, Taehyung is really good at this.”

“Yo, Soojung. Breathe a little, will you?” Luhan tells her, chuckling a bit. It was nice to see her getting all fired up, but the way she was acting, it seemed like she was one of the players because of her nervousness.

“How many minutes left?” Junmyeon asks Jinri who was standing next to him, eating her orange popsicle.

“Less than five minutes, I think?”

“Damn, I really did take a lot of time buying the ice creams, didn’t I?”

“I can’t believe they’re actually going to win the finals.”

“Shouldn’t you be happy, Sehun?”

“I am, but I really didn’t expect for them to win, you know? Admit it, Ehra has got some good players as well.”

“Yeah, but did you even see how Jongin played today? He’s like on fire. I wonder what has gotten into him.”

Standing awkwardly between her friends, Soojung was silently eating her popsicle while listening to their conversation. She has watched him from the start and she must say that her fiancée was extra motivated today, though she kind of knew why.

Everybody felt the tension at the very last minute when the players of Imperium Academy enter the opponent's side. They really looked like they wanted to score another goal even though it was already clear that they’re going to take home the trophy that day. And even though it seemed like it was impossible, they actually did it. With their clean teamwork, Jongin has managed to score another one, his third of the match and last goal of the season.

Soojung just had to clap her hands and scream in glee, forgetting about the popsicle that was on , only to drop on the cold ground. She didn’t even realizes it happened until Sehun scold her because of it so she turns to Jinri and blinks at her innocently so she could take a bite of hers, which she does. While munching Jinri’s popsicle, the announcer proclaims Imperium Academy as the winners and the whole crowd of Imperium Academy celebrates.

After hugging her friends, Soojung turns around after hearing someone call her name and sees Jongin jumping off the bleachers just to reach where she was. She was of course, surprised and told him to stop, but the boy was too excited to listen. He finally reaches her, but the railings were too high for him to jump over so he just stays where he was.

“I won- I mean,” He stop abruptly, changing his words. “We won. Just like how I told you.”

“I know. I watched the whole thing.” She laughs. “Congratulations, Jongin. You were incredible out there.”

Suddenly, Jongin does the same thing that he did before – squirming his body as if he wanted something. And this time, she already knows what it was.

“Not here Jongin!” She tells him, motioning at the crowd behind her. “Later.”

“Promise?”

“Promise.”

“Kim Jongin! If you don’t come down in 5 seconds, you’re not going to get a medal!” Taehyun shouts from the field as his teammates were already lining up for them to get the trophy. Jongin groans, telling him to off but he does prepare to go back but not before grinning happily at Soojung.

“I’ve already got my medal.”

author's note:

i take back what i said last chapter - this is actually the longest chapter that i've ever written. i had a lot of responses at the last one and it made me too happy, and this was the outcome. thank you for that. i never actually thought that you would comment a lot hehe. a lot of things happened in this chapter, but i don't think the next ones will be as long as this one so i'm apologizing in advance. also, will jongin ever get his kiss??? probably not. stay tune to find out ;) (lmao i really like teasing you all don't i? i hope you all have a great week! byeee <3

EDIT: I FORGOT TO SAY SOMETHING (UN)IMPORTANT. so basically, i did something for jongin back then. it's like, a solo teaser?? lmao but yeah, i didn't like in the end but i thought that maybe i should show it to you all so here it is:
