I was staring off the space at the roof of my apartment when I felt a pair of hands on my waist. I didn’t need to turn around because I knew who it was and I was expecting him. He rested his chin on my right shoulder.

“I’ve been looking all over for you. What are you doing up here?” he ask.

I’ve never like being at high places. He out of all people knew that very well.

Words seemed to escape me. My lips wouldn’t move.

He tightened his grip.

“Al? You okay?”  He asked and spun me around.

I couldn’t look at him. I’m afraid I’ll meet his eyes and I’ll just….break down.

I looked up at the sky and took my breath.

“I’m leaving, tomorrow. I don’t know where. But I’ll be gone by dawn.”

“Wha…What? Why?” He asked and shook me in disbelief.

“Why don’t you ask yourself?” I looked at him with my best death glare. “I know what you did last Saturday night.”

He looked at me with pure shock written all over his face.

I’m sorry. I have to do this.

“What are you talking about, Alex? What the did I do?”

I took out a photo from the pocket of my jeans. I threw it at him. He picked it up and his eyes grew wide.

I turned around not facing him. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

I can’t tell you how sorry I am. I just wish I never had to do this to you.

This time. This place. The picture. The tears that are about to fall. The breakup.
